Bmms

Are we allowed to decorate for boobies? I always thought we were especially considering stores are posted in the buzz with decorations all over the store but apparently our regional manager doesn’t want us to? Which is insane considering our store specifically makes so much in donations every time. We have themes and I bought a bunch of decorations for it just to be told we aren’t allowed to decorate, so please let me know what the actual rules are lmao.
Also comment how your store is decorating if you are :)

Sales associate position

Hello! There’s a stand alone (not in a mall)
Location opening near me soon and I was wondering what the starting pay is like. I’ve seen online that it’s 11 sesh. Also curious about promotions? Is there annual promotions? Do you have to push like emails
Or credit cards? And is it even worth it?? I currently work at five below so I have some retail experience. It sounds kinda fun but idk.

Feeling overworked and underpaid.. shocker haha

Point and laugh everyone. Perhaps I’m exaggerating, but as a part time associate, I’ve noticed something about my experience that’s been a little different from what I’ve seen compared to others in my area.

I was hired in July— ..July 31st to be exact. Since then, I have been completely worked like a dog. It’s my first job in general, and even though I knew what was coming, I have my doubts that my experience is less than ordinary?

For my first two weeks, I had been scheduled for at least 40 hours. With one hour specifically in overtime since my store needed extra help during closing. I had picked up another shift my second week as well because one of my managers had asked me if I could since half the team had called off. I’m the only associate at this store that has full availability, so I knew this was going to happen sooner than later. However, with that in mind, I was paid roughly 600 something dollars. After doing my calculations and such I suppose that is normal considering taxes and all, but I’ve noticed that even during my first two weeks.. I’ve worked more than all my other associates. REMINDER, I’m only part time.

This pay period however, I will be having worked for 51-53 hours. From what others have told me, this isn’t normal. As a part time associate, I should only be really scheduled nothing above 30-35 hours. So, what’s the deal? Am I wrong to be upset? Not to mention, yesterday, I was marking down so many shirts for clearance, and whilst I did that, my two managers (it was only us three yesterday in the store) were doing nothing but talking shit about the other associates and managers behind the cash register. It’s just a lot to pile onto me, and I’m unhappy with my situation. Please give any advice on if I am over exaggerating, or what I should do. Thanks guys!

Returning

So I bought a baseball hat from Spencer’s for $19.98, but I ended up exchanging it twice:
- a different baseball hat for the original price (exchanged 1st time)
- another baseball hat for the same $19.98 (+ $7.01 extra, exchanged 2nd time)

I wasn’t really satisfied with it (wouldn’t match well with my outfits), so I want to return it.

Here’s the thing, however: I used the same card for the original transaction (the $19.98 purchase) and the 2nd exchange (the $7.01 transaction), so I was wondering if it was possible to get the full $26.99 back onto the same card, or will the $19.98 go onto a gift card and the remaining $7.01 to the card? I have the original receipt for the 2nd exchange from the 1st one.

Why is the music so bad lately?

It doesn't really feel like a Spencer's vibe. Like a month or 2 ago i was hearing a lot more metal and emo music but now it's bad covers and 2010s clap stomp hey :(

Should I not bother?

I've been wanting to get a job at Spencer's but basically everyone I've asked and everywhere online says they won't hire you if you don't know someone unless it's for the holidays or spirit, is this true or is there a chance I could get the job?

Party hosts…what was your first week like?

Hey everyone! I was hired back a couple weeks ago and I was wondering if other people had similar situations or not. My manager had pretty much adored me during my interview and told me she knew that I “knew how to get business done”. This is my first retail job however (in general, my first ACTUAL job), so I’m a little whiplashed from everything.

When I was hired, I was working almost every single day, mostly 6-8 hour shifts. I rarely had days off. I was consistently being called in to help because the other associates called off certain days, and I already had an hour of overtime just in my first three or four days. I was working multiple closing shifts, and now with pay on Friday— I’m sureeee this check is gonna hit. I can’t remember how many hours I worked, but it surely was above 40.

Now..I see that I’m scheduled for mostly 4 hour shifts haha. I was working more hours than half the store, if not more than half during my first two weeks.

Do you remember what your first week was like? Share your horror stories!

Spencer's Crappy 'Special' Return Policy! Online➡️In Store😠

Venting...

I always shop in store at Spencer's at the mall. This was the first time I bought something online.

The product did not fit and also appeared to have some quality issues.

I printed out the return slip and brought it to my nearest Spencer's store. Associate then told me that unfortunately they cannot process the return, because the item in question is NOT a Spencer's branded item or item that they sell in store, therefore they DO NOT have a SKU for it to even try and return it. The associate acknowledge that they are aware that it did come from Spencers Online, but again they cannot return these types of products that they don't carry; also acknowledged that this isn't the first time something like this happened 🤷‍♂️

There is NO such wordage anywhere onsite regarding this 'special' circumstance and it even gave me the option on the return slip to go to any store.

I have now spent ~$20 to ship this damn thing back (that was the lowest and slowest shipping option) because I'm on the west coast and the stupid return office is in Ohio...just perfect! The product also only cost $45, so this is a waste of time and money. If I could somehow use the product then I wouldn't return it, but I can't, and I'm not going to try and sell it to someone when I know it has quality/function issues...doubt anyone would buy it anyway.

So frustrating!!!!! 😤

Vintage style store in Dulles

Wow compared to my usual it certainly was very different. Not huge on the register being in the side of the store and it just felt very cluttered, was bright though. Also yes, they do have working green neon in the back of the store (I glanced at it I didn’t walk back to that area), it’s awesome

Working at Spencer’s as an older person

I’m 37 and looking for a second part-time job something that would be easy. I’ve done a retail before I was thinking about working at Spencer‘s. I still shop there every now and then would it be weird or awkward if someone my age works there, especially since mostly young people don’t work there
