stupid question about 'credits'

ive never used splice and dont know where else to ask this, so here i am. so i found a sample pack i like and want to buy. it has like 1000+ samples in it. it appears that credits are 1:1 for samples, so does this mean that i need 1000+ credits to download this one sample pack fully? being a subscription service, it looks like i need to pay $20/mo for 200 credits...

so does this then mean i need to subscribe and then wait like five months building up enough credits to get this one sample pack? this seems really weird and doesnt make sense to me- to the point where i feel like im misunderstanding something about this whole system.

is there no way to just buy a sample pack? i realize that i dont need _all_ 1000 samples _right now_ i guess, but this still seems kinda whack. assuming i did want every sample from this single pack, that also means that in the five or whatever months it would take me to save up the credits for it, i couldnt really do anything else with my subscription in the meantime.

is this actually how this all works, or am i missing something?

CC01/CC11 Not Responding in Reaper

Hi everyone, I made the subscription with Splice Instruments a month ago and everything worked fine. This night I re-opened a project I was working on and I found out that all the CC lanes that I drew had no correspondence in the faders of the Splice UI. I tried changing them but nothing worked. I also started a fresh project and drew some curves on CC 01 and CC 11 with Emotional Cello Patch and it didn't work. I loaded another plugin on the same track and the faders were responsive, so I think that's a Splice issue.

Has anyone had the same issue? Thank you! If you need further infos or screenshot, I can provide them

Splice will delete 1,343 credits I paid for if I cancel, and the 28-day rule isn't even in their Terms of Use

I've used Splice since around 2019 and currently have 1,343 unused credits that I paid for.

I haven't been making much music lately, so I contacted support about canceling and possibly getting a refund. They told me they can refund a maximum of six months.

Then I found out what happens to my credits.

If I cancel, ALL 1,343 credits expire after 28 days. If I resubscribe after that, they're permanently gone and I start back at zero.

I understand requiring an active subscription to actually USE credits. What I don't understand is permanently deleting credits I already paid for because I stopped paying them monthly.

I escalated this to a senior support member. They confirmed they cannot refund more than six months and cannot prevent my remaining credits from expiring. They also admitted the six-month refund limit is just an internal support authorization limit.

So I checked Splice's policies.

The 28-day expiration rule is mentioned in their Help Center and plan FAQ, but I searched their current Terms of Use and could not find that forfeiture rule stated there. Their Terms discuss credits and cancellation, but not that your entire paid credit balance gets wiped after 28 days.

Splice also literally sells additional credits for money, so we're not talking about meaningless reward points.

Their options are basically: keep paying, burn through 1,343 credits, pause for two months and then start paying again, or cancel and lose what you paid for.

I've been giving this company money for roughly seven years.

How is "keep paying us or we'll eventually erase your paid credit balance" considered an acceptable policy?

Made this for myself, thought some of you might find it useful too

Hey r/lofihiphop (mods gave me the okay to share this here)

I’m TJ aka lowkeylime (look me up), a sample-lovin lofi guy and dad from Chicago. I'm sure I'm not the only one here that dreads promoting my songs.

That's why I created TrackVis, a simple web app that turns a song + an image or vid into an engaging promo visual/video for social.

It’s free to try right now, and I’m looking for some honest feedback from other artists.

I'm also wanted to give the lofi subreddit 50 free credits. Use code: lofihiphop after selecting the "buy exports" button.

About the app:

🎬 No video editing skills needed. No timeline, no keyframes
🎨 Add film grain, VHS, glitch, and other GPU effects
🎵 Reacts to your music with waveforms + effects
⚡ Saves time with saved templates
đź”’ Private by default. Your media stays in your browser
🤖 No AI involved — not in the app, not in the code

I built it because promo is one of my least favorite parts of making music, and I wanted something faster than opening a full video editor every time I released a song. I've learned its VERY diverse in what you can create with it too.

If you try it, I’d seriously appreciate any feedback via the Feedback button in the app (the good, the bad, what’s confusing, what’s missing, bugs).

Thanks so much. Appreciate y’all.

If I stop paying for splice, do I keep my downloaded premium presets.

Based on what i've seen, u keep the samples, but do U keep the actual instrument presets?

IS ANYBODY ELSE HAVING TROUBLE GETTING WHAT YOU WANT OUT OF THE SEARCH FEATURE ON SPLICE?

I mostly use splice for one shot drum sounds and percussion loops that I chop up myself.

In the past it's always been easy for me to search up what I want based on genre & the type of sound I'm looking for.

EXAMPLE: Searching up "Hip-Hop Boomy kick drum" would typically yield the kind of sounds I'm looking for...or it would AT LEAST give me kick drums.

Recently I've run into the problem where I'm looking up prompts such as "Sub Impact Crash," "Tribal Toms," "Shakers" and it will give me synth loops, vocal samples and other random stuff in my search results?

It doesn't even matter if I select the tags to narrow it down. I will select "drums," "crashes," "one-shots," etc. and yet the application is still pulling up loops, synths, and other sounds that have nothing to do with what I'm searching for.

Does anybody know if this is just a bug with the application as it tries to implement new AI features? Does anybody know how I can fix this easily?

I would appreciate any and all advice on this matter đź’•

I applied to work at splice and made a song out of splice samples and their KIT ai vocal editor (i'd be working with), is that cheesy or awesome?

Just applied for a position at splice and wanted to stand out in some way. It was for a PM position managing their newly acquired KIT AI vocal workstation. I decided to make a song using splice samples and KIT to showcase in my cover letter, to cut through the noise... Now I'm wondering, was that cheesy or awesome?

Here's the track for reference:

How in the world do you use something like Splice or Spitfire?

All I have is Ableton. I can open Splice, but then like, what do I DO with it? Is there a way to have the sounds I'm making show up in Ableton? I've watched every goddamn How To on this subject and I'm concerned that I have brain damage because they all basically just say "Oh yeah so what you'll want to do is just turn it on and there it should be". What am I not doing here? I just want to create some decent choir vocals but apparently Kontakt is the only thing you can use and its way out of my price range. Apparently there's a free version but the website just crashes anytime I try to use it.

Thoughts? I'm completely lost.
