e-bikes :(

I'm honestly getting tired of seeing speeding e-bikes with no regard for pedestrians, traffic, or their own safety. Every day it seems like someone is flying through crosswalks, sidewalks, or intersections as if the rules don't apply.

I know not everyone rides this way, but the ones who do are making our streets feel less safe for everyone (who wants to jog in peace and come home with unbroken limbs). I really hope we start taking education, accountability, and road safety more seriously before a preventable tragedy happens.

Public access to dock at Britannia beach for 30 min?

I have a small boat and looking to see if I can dock for 30 min while I get some icecream, I can’t find anywhere if it is a public dock?

Any help would be amazing 🥹

Squamish, do you have a hydrangea in your yard?

Edit: Thank you SO much everyone! ❤️ We are taken care of!!

Weird ask for the lovely people of Squamish. I'm wondering if there is anyone in the area that has a blue hydrangea that I could cut a few stalks of tomorrow morning (July 4).

My partner and I are eloping here and I haven't been able to find any for sale at the local florists.

Love, visiting dirtbags. 💙

Barking and potential abusive dog situation on 4th avenue.

EDIT: If you have any information about this situation, please contact the BC SPCA Animal Helpline at 1-855-622-7722 to share your concerns or provide any relevant details. A united effort could be the key to saving these dogs from their miserable lives. (You will likely need to leave a message).

I'm looking for advice on what legal or practical options are left at this point.

We live Downtown (4th ave) and one property has a dog that barks almost constantly at literally everything. It's throughout the day and often well into the night, regularly keeping us awake. This has been going on for a long time. Anyone that lives on or near 4th avenue is probably aware of this dog.

There are also several other dogs at the property that seem to be kept inside all the time. We constantly hear them whining and scratching at the door, which makes us concerned that, at the very least, they're being neglected.

- We've called bylaw numerous times. They told us they're very familiar with this property and have issued the owners multiple fines. They don't deal with neglect or abuse, only noise in this case.

- Bylaw asked us to complete a "bark log." It seemed a little absurd given how many complaints they already receive about this address, but we filled it out anyway.

- We've contacted the BC SPCA, but as far as we can tell, nothing has changed. I'm sure they have their hands full, but it was a few weeks ago now that we called and reported.

- We've contacted the RCMP, who told us their hands are tied and there's little they can do.

We also tried speaking with the owners directly in the hope of resolving things respectfully. Unfortunately, they became very aggressive. They also appeared extremely paranoid, and it seemed like there may be underlying mental health issues, so we don't feel comfortable approaching them again.

Another concern is that the barking dog is extremely aggressive and when we walk past the property, it lunges, growls, and barks aggressively. It's damn right scary. We're genuinely worried that if it were ever to break its leash, the fence doesn't look like it would contain it.

At this point we're frustrated because multiple agencies seem aware of the situation, yet nothing changes. The fines don't appear to have any effect, and the dogs continue to bark constantly and appear to be living in poor conditions.

Has anyone dealt with something similar in BC? Is there any legal avenue left to pursue, or are we simply stuck waiting until something more serious happens?

How long are vehicles with out of country license plates allowed to park on the street (insurance-wise)?

I'm genuinely curious about this because a few years back I was given a fine because my BC insurance ran out and my car was parked along the road (I naively didn't realize this was an issue, I know now). That said, I was surprised how quick I got ticketed - I think the car was uninsured for like a couple of days max.

I've noticed a camper with a tarp over it with California plates is parked along the same road hasn't moved since January. I would assume that at some point its no longer insured?

TBC: I'm not about to call anyone to report it - I'm curious how this works.

History of Paradise Valley/Midnight way

Any one know how the neighbourhood around Midnight Way came to be? It seems like a sort of random (albeit beautiful) place for a community. Curious if there’s any connection to the campground or Chekamus centre?

Seen this creep outside of under one roof. Talking with the less fortunate. Then seen him take a vulnerable individual into the bush to get his 🐔 cleaned

Public mobile sentiment

Can anyone provide their overall happiness with public mobile coverage here in town? I'm using virgin and the coverage seems to have really gone downhill.

How hard would it be to find work as a pediatrician in Squamish?

Hello community, for context I am a pediatrician from Mexico in the path for certification and licensure in Canada because 'who doesn't want to live in paradise?'. My husband works in IT, and we have a 15yo kid who is studying 10th grade this year. We are planning on arriving in BC by summer 2027, and my husband (an avid mountain biker) and me (hiker and potter) are head over heels with your community (I admit it, I have been following your feed and doing research on my own). I understand that there is a hospital in Squamish, plenty of kids, and not a lot of pediatricians. Problem is, I cannot find a single job posting for my profession there. I am a really stubborn person and when I have a dream I chase it, but I want a reality check. Is there really a chance to become your neighbor? It all comes down to the real need of a pediatrician in there. I have been told to look in bigger cities, but we had our lifetime share of big cities, so we are hanging on to the dream. Thank you for your time! Happy Canada day to you all

Any updates on Daniel Reoch / Marshall Iwaasa case?

I just rewatched the Barely Sociable episode on the Pemberton Incident.

I'm curious if anyone knows if there have been any updates/new information on this case? Are there any local theories on the matter? If you do not wish to post publicly, feel free to PM.

I knew one of the two men from school. This case is so odd it keeps me up at night.

World Cup

Does anyone know why the District of Squamish has not made any effort to show any Canada World Cup games on the downtown park? Also no Canada Day festivities? Where is the patriotism? Sure they did a woke festival with yoga but FFS do something for us Canadians No firework, parade, or bbq. Shame on them.

Is there anywhere in Squamish that cuts kids hair for less than 30 bucks?

I’ve been doing myself but the results are sub optimal. I feel like 40 bucks (tip included) for a haircut is gouging but then again I’m known to be cheap.
