Writing this as a heads up to everyone.
They don’t care about cheating at SLC.
Just recently completed Computer Systems Technician program. And the amount of blatant cheating astounded me. Straight up asking people for answers, copying off each other on practicals, texting on phones to people not in the room for help.
And people did and do get caught, there just isn’t any consequence. Had an instructor tell me they had reported a particular student 6 times for cheating and the school refused to do anything about it.
In fact come our final semester the instructor who did the most to combat the cheating by having his laptop record at the front of the room and you having to stand in front of it with your ID card at the end of the test. This instructor was unable to get a classroom for his classes, so everything was done remotely where he had no ability to combat the cheating at all. All our other classes were tested in person.
Maybe it improves but I doubt it.
Dean Barbareau is a prime example of people failing upwards.
Hello new friends,
I will be attending SLC this Fall as a new student.
I’m debating on the parking pass, but am not opposed to saving a few bucks and a few extra kilometres of fuel.
I will be commuting from Amherstview and I was wondering if anyone has any experience with travelling to a Transit Hub like the Kingston Centre, Gardiners Centre or Cataraqui Mall and then bussing the rest of the way?
I imagine the area around the college would be safer than public areas for my vehicle and if I’m just begging for it to get broken into by parking off site please let me know that.
Long ramble short, does anyone have any tips on how to save money on parking while utilizing KT?
Thank you and see you this September
not sure how it works from now to the beginning of classes but is this the schedule? or is it like the possible options, is class really that frequent i kind of thought it would be once or twice a week for each course haha….
One class is full. I selected the other time slot but it states there's a time conflict with my other classes. Any idea how to change the time of the other classes I'm now enrolled in?
Hi everyone!
There’s definitely not a lot of information on what it is like living here which is surprising because our school is pretty full!!
If you have any questions abt how it is like living here lmk! Or u can message me! Even if it’s silly I’m here to answer :)
(dorm life, fees, questions, lists, social life, ANYTHING!)
I just finished enrollment with the rest of my courses, which thankfully went smoothly, but when i try to choose from my breadth electives (really gunning for the LART 3DG intro to philosophy over here), it says the course has not been scheduled. Does this just mean I should wait until it gets scheduled naturally or should I be sending out an email to get my interest across? The other breadth elective choices are all similarly unscheduled, save for one of the Sociology courses, oddly enough, which leads me to think it'll be a waiting game for anything to be scheduled if anything.
If I do have to email someone please lmk the address below! There's such minimal information online about who to contact, which is unfortunate.
For those whos programs are self register; have any of your gen ed courses been scheduled/available to add to your shopping cart yet?
I spoke to student services when my shopping cart first opened; and they said that they are slowly being scheduled, but my enrolment begins tomorrow at 9am and none of my elective options are showing as available! Is this typical? I was hoping to see ahead of time what would work with my classes, as every class except one only has one time slot available, so im working with a super rigid schedule! I wouldnt want to enroll in all my classes only to find out my top pick elective is scheduled at a time that would conflict with my only class that has another option available!
Additionally, im pretty disappointed with the electives available for 1st year BPSYC students; does anyone know if these options change throughout the program? I was hoping to take an indigenous culture or history focused course at some point, which ive heard others take, but isnt an option for me i guess!
