Transit

Hi! Just moved to the neighbourhood, headed back in office this week. Just wondering if anyone has suggestions for the either most direct or fastest route from here to Yonge and Eglinton?

Thanks in advance!

PSA: Dogs must be leashed...within town too

Those who reside around Millard and/or Baker Hill Blvd may be familiar with a short, maintained trail that passes behind the condo, Hampton Place. At around 10am this morning while walking along the section of trail behind the condo, an unleashed dog accompanied by a woman charged at me unprovoked. The dog did not heed her repeated calls as it ran towards me. On its first pass, the dog bit through my pant leg, ripping it. Then tried to circle me and charged again. I had to yell 'Stop!' several times and clap loudly in the dog's face for it to pause. At no point did the owner rush to stop the dog. She told the dog to sit several times and it did not respond to the command while I kept my eye on it. When she finally sauntered up to the dog and was scolding it, the dog finally sat and was making an indignant face. That face where they point their noses upward, narrow their eyes and turn their head away from their owner as the owner speaks.

Public spaces are for all individuals and requires everyone's participation to maintain a safe space for all. **This is a reminder that your dog must always be leashed in public spaces.** While you may think you understand your dog and believe it to be obedient and well-disciplined, it is still an animal and it may respond in an unpredictable manner at any time. I cannot blame the dog, but I can blame the owner.

Thankfully, the dog's teeth did not break skin. My pants were just loose enough on the legs to spare me. I have lived in Stouffville for 15+ years, this is not my first foray with strangers' dogs lunging, jumping, biting, or scratching me within the town or on the trails in the conservation areas. My sincerest apologies to the residents of the condo to whom I may have disrupted this morning with my yelling.

Leash your dogs.

Tesla Home Charger Install

Hi, looking for electrician recommendations from local Stouffvillians who have had a Tesla Level 2 charger (or 240V outlet) installed in their garage, including running a new line from the breaker.

Thanks in advance!

Skinny Orange and White Cat

Walking home down Stouffville Main Street, and I saw a very skinny orange and white cat, looked no more than a few years old, and no collar. It was crossing the road at night, just slightly east of the Optometrist on Main near 9th line.

For all I know, the kitty has a home, but it seemed more like a stray, maybe lost cat.

Mechanic in the area

Just wondering if you could recommend a mechanic in the area that could do a check and issue a report on my new used car. I have a suspicion that a small section has been repainted (eg some small rough spots and I’m no expert, and I also see small spots of paint on the gas gasket). Carfax etc all clean.

Roundabouts are sooooooooo hard for some people

The instant karma was when he slammed on the brakes, locked up his front wheels, and slammed hard into the curb. 😏

Stouffville road deconstruction

Is it just me or are the contractors redoing Stouffville road incompetent?

They keep leaving ridiculously large bumps at every intersection.

Lines look they got painted by a 2 year old.

Don't get me started on their people safety. These guys are literally running around the road and setting road blocks with pylons with no traffic knowledge. No wonder one of their workers got hit.

Pylons are shit show too...half of them were blowing around the road today.

The improved repaved finished upstream road is also bumpy as shit.

Capitalizing on businesses closing

Does anyone else get the ick from the young man in Stouffville bulletin that always writes these long winded posts, lamenting on his own experiences as a student, to sell his tutoring business?

Today, I saw him post about how he’s so sad to see all these businesses closing in town, so therefore, he’s advertising his new idea of after school care!

I don’t know. He’s always seemed disingenuous to me and that post really just annoyed me.

Another take out/restaurant gone

First it was Aras, then Santosh and now Datta. All changed within the last 2 to 3 years. Stouffville businesses are struggling lately. Hopefully this one sticks, the Scarborough location is good.
