Got her lat year as a string of pearls, but I think otherwise?
Repotted this year, she’s growing something new…slowly but surely. I thought I’d lost her last year, but probably just overwatered.
I have this big beautiful string of hearts. I took it out of the cache pot to water it today and discovered what looks like mold growing out of the drainage holes. I live in zone 9b-10a (southern California), it’s in a bedroom and sits in front of a south window that has plantation shutters so lots of filtered light, and the ceiling fan is on 24/7, I do not have a humidifier in the room but it sits in a cluster of plants on the shelf. The nursery pot does not sit directly on the bottom of the cache pot, the rim of the nursery pot sits on the rim of the cache pot so it suspends it and there’s about an inch or more of space between the bottom of the nursery pot and the bottom of the cache pot. There’s also a hole in the bottom of the cache pot. I thought there was plenty of air circulation for it, so I’m not sure why there would be mold growing out of the bottom of the pot. The plant seems to be very healthy and is growing beautifully.
Has anyone had this problem before? Any ideas on why it would be growing mold? What should I do now? The options I’ve come up with are :
Any other suggestions?
Is this normal and is there anything to make them all the same size? They were on the windowsill of sn east facing window and got so much longer and new growth since i bought it but the pearls themselves arent growing😭 any ideas would be appreciated! Thanks Edit: im just watering it right now its not usually in water loll
This string of pearls I got is in ROUGH shape. I’m newish to the world of plants but have learned a decent amount and want to try to save this beauty as best as I can.
I clipped some strands off it to to try to propagate. But I would appreciate and recommendations/advice/thoughts/prayers to help save the mother plant. She is sooo long but clearly struggling. Please help!
This string of dolphins was hiding behind the hanging pothos at my local Walmart, for only $15! Can’t wait to give her some TLC and watch her thrive 🤩
I’m officially obsessed with treasure hunting now 🕵🏻♂️
My string of turtles was previously hanging in an east facing window and struggling. The leaves would fall off when I touched it and the stems got really thin. I almost threw it out when I moved, but I decided to bring it along. It’s now sitting far from a southeast facing window and I started watering it with aquarium water and it is thriving! Glad I didn’t give up on it.
Hi all! Thanks in advance for any help:)
I’ve had this string if hearts for a few years now, maybe 4? She is such a little thriver, every summer grows luscious Rapunzel locks and produces flowers. But I am at the point where I don’t know if I should repot her? I want to make her thicker but I’m running out of soil in the pot and it has loads of large (proportionally to pot) tubers so wondering if I should give her more room!
Truthfully I haven’t researched thoroughly so please be gentle! I love her very much and she is my pride and joy with how much she grows 💖
Potentially rescued these from my mother’s house where they have gone without adequate light and watering for a good while now as you can see. What I’m wondering is could these beauties ultimately be saved if I were to trim away the dead ends and propagate with cuttings of as much of the plump/alive dolphins and pearls (which I know they’re few and far between lol) and then take cuttings of the new growth in a few weeks, propagate, repeat etc?
I have 0 experience with SOD, but once upon a time I had a similar looking SOP that I miraculously rose from the dead over the course of about a year with this method, so I feel there may be soooome hope? Let me know any other tips or tricks if any- and if none, if I should just toss ‘em 😪
I’m trying to propagate some string of pearls in soil that I got from a friend and they look like they’re shriveling up, how often should I water it, if at all? Its in a 4inch terracotta pot with a grow light
I purchased and propagated some string plants a while back and they have been growing well. However, my string of pearls is growing long leaves that resemble a string of tears. At first, I thought that they were the "baby leaves" and will slowly become round. Now, I am not sure anymore since there's so many of them! Is this just a string of pearls? But as you can see, the guys in the soil that I planted are all pearls!! I'm so confused!!
pearls on top dried up I think due to insufficient sunlight. I have now moved it to the window. do I need to propagate the long green strings or can it recover on its own? despite the top pearls drying up the rest of the strings have continued to grow longer.
My bf got me my first SOP🥰 is this a perfect spot for her? This is as bright it will get throughout the day.
Hi! I have this little string of turtle and was wondering if I need to repot it into a slightly bigger pot?
Hey y’all this is my first string of bananas (?) I have owned this plant for almost a year now and it has probably grown almost 2 feet in that year… I have to water it once per week now as the soil gets SO DRY and the bananas start to shrivel. Is it time to repot this plant? If so please share any tips. This is one of my favorite plants and I want to keep it as healthy & happy as possible! Also any care tips would be greatly appreciated as well!!! Thank you!💚
My string of tears looked so happy that I thought I’d try a variegated string of pearls😅 fingers crossed I don’t kill her!
