In this day and age, all over the internet, we have seen an increase in the number of scams and their sophistication. We want to remind members of the r/SunPower community to be vigilant.

SunPower’s bankruptcy has increased the burden on all of us. Many of us purchased a SunPower system because while we wanted solar, we did not have the time and/or desire to become a solar expert. As a result of the bankruptcy, we no longer have a trusted partner to turn to when we need help and support. Unfortunately, the need for help and support and the uncertainty surrounding it have increased the opportunities to be scammed by promises of help and support.

To make r/SunPower community safer, we have:

1. Prohibited businesses from posting advertisements for goods and services on r/SunPower (rule #1).
2. Discouraged businesses from replying to requests for help with “I can help, dm me”. This is exactly what a scammer would do. Instead, we encourage businesses to put more effort into their responses. To demonstrate a professional understanding of the problem and a plan to resolve it. A potential customer on Reddit doesn’t need to be told how to reach out. They want to know:
   1. Are you a legitimate business?
   2. Do you understand their issue?
   3. Are you capable of resolving it?
3. Encourage businesses to build out their Reddit profiles. To help potential customers get a better sense of who they are potentially working with while looking at their Reddit profile. We encourage businesses to do more than just fill out their Reddit profile description. Businesses should have pinned posts with relevant information about their business, detailed contact information, goods and services offered, service areas, issues they have resolved, success stories, referrals, etc.
4. Encourage the r/SunPower community to continue to post issues they are having with their SunPower systems. Also post a follow-up with their success story.  Include how the problem was resolved, which business resolved the problem, and their experience with the business.

Hello Reddit SunPower Community,

My (paid by cash) SunPower system consists of a Hub+ (PVS6), Two SunVault Batteries, and 30+ Panels.

I noticed that the lights on my SunPower Batteries were cycling through a F.72 fault multiple times each day, and one of these cycles happens almost every day at around 5:30 PM Pacific.

Recorded a video a few days back and here is what I noticed:

05:20 PM: System operating as normal with my home being powered by Panels and the Batteries.

05:21 PM: Only two lights on both SunVault outer displays were on - the internet connectivity and grid connectivity. Opened up the main SunVault cabinet and notice an F.72 Error on the inside screen, AC1 LED was off, AC2 LED was blinking green, and Error LED was solid red.

05:37 PM: The inside display changed to OFF, all lights went blank, blinked on, went blank again, and the system then began to power on. I could hear an audible click from the two SunVault batteries.

05:39 PM: The system returned to normal with only the AC2 LED now a steady Green.

Reached out and received two different opinions from people familiar with SunPower systems – they both logged in remotely to review my system. One suggested that the system was working normally and that I should not make any changes (something about the power cycles being attributed to trickle-charging of the batteries). The other suggested that there seemed to be issues with the system communicating with SunStrong servers (given that this happens almost every evening at about 5:30 PM) and that perhaps I should consider blocking the system from communicating with the SunStrong servers.

Has anyone encountered behavior like this from their SunPower system? I sure could use the collective guidance from this community to help identifying the underlying cause and a possible solution.
