Ball Bounces and hits Pitcher in Chest
I have over 1500 hours playing this game and I have never seen a ball bounce and hit a pitcher. It knocked the pitcher out of the game.
My heart was in my mouth

SMB4 - COMPLETE MLB 26 ROSTER
Hello everyone. I've put something crazy like 300 hours into editing 2026 MLB Rosters for SMB4 & would like to share it with the community. I can not take credit for the majority of team logo's as they were from a file I either downloaded here or mvpmods.. but it basically had team logo's and just throwback uniforms - they did an incredible job. That was the starting point, took over from there.
Complete edit of every team w each players Looks, Abilities & Traits. The limited 22 man rosters are comprised of the franchise's best players (Active, IR & some prospects on the verge of call up.) Current, alternate, throwback, and many city connect uniforms. Home Stadium sounds, Snake rattles in Arizona, Tiger roars in Detroit, ect.
Not a perfect science, but in addition to hard stats I used a combination of - AI, Statcast & The Show 26 player ratings to reference along the way. Many factor's taken into account; recent gold glove winners, errors committed, highest/lowest velo arms, pickoff rate, injury risks, extreme lefty/righty splits, elite trait for highly regarded pitch's.. all the way down to accusations of sign stealing. (altuve, correa & the astros steal signs, along with bregman. it's funny hearing bangs on the garbage can when these guys are up.) Basically anything I could dig up, I tried to incorporate.
Things to note: I used sliders in place of sweepers, 2seamers in place of sinkers, and forkballs in place of splitters - as they are the most similar pitch types offered in the game. Also, this is intended to be used with DH on. Outside of Ohtani very few pitchers hit decently. Next, in most cases I opted to use players most distinct hairstyles, even if not current. For example, PCA's blue hair, Vlady's dreads, Bichette's mullet, ect. I feel it adds more personality to the arcade style of this game. In that same vein, gave each team's star players/feared hitters the slightly more dramatic animations approaching the plate. Latin players come out to Spanish music, many other small details.
Undoubtedly there will be things that pop up in need of adjustment, it is inevitable. I am constantly making tweaks as players get hot or cool off - but that will always be the case. Eventually, I plan on working on a Legends League / All Time rosters for every team. If there is enough interest, I may release that project when the time comes, and possibly an update to this save at some point. Would love to hear your feedback!
Hope you enjoy it, have fun.
- Chris

Just Like Old Times
Even though Hank Aaron didn't break Sadaharu Oh's world home run record of 868, thanks to the opportunity to start a new franchise, Hank is back and determined to break the world home run record before hanging up his cleats. Hank finished his first career attempt with 853 home runs. With a strong start to his second attempt, he has picked up where he left off, occasionally blasting home runs over 500 feet.
Feeling the bias toward power pitching
I am now playing in 70s Ego, around 73-75.
Here my pitching is constantly getting punished. It seems like the CPU can basically zero in on exact pitching spots with power swing level in the 90's regardless of where the pitch lands. This has resulted in lots of high scoring games and a lot of fatigue.
One thing I noticed is that as soon as I utilize power pitching, the CPU have no clue how to deal with it. It doesn't matter how accurate the pitches are, good, decent, wild, they keep fouling and striking out. I could be throwing a change up on wild pitch straight down the plate and the batters have harder time dealing with it than a 100mph fastball in the corner of the plate.
This makes it feel like the game forces me to use power pitching, not by directing me to mastering the power pitching but simply by making the batters dumber against power pitches. Is this how the game was designed or is it just me?
Kinda losing interest at this point. Anything below 70 I would be crushing too badly. Anything above 70 becomes a crazy scoring fest where I am constantly giving up 10 runs.
SMB4 - Year 12 of Franchise. Where to go next?
Hi everyone. I've been playing this franchise over the last few summers.
My current surplus is 6.9 Million dollars with a training fund amount of 230K per game. 30 game season. I play casually at 50-55 ego.
My main question is the following:
Do I blow things up after this season to increase training funds?
I'm trying to get a younger squad and already dismissed Buck Swiner , Hurley Bender, Rob Glover, and Huck Enduck last season to get younger.
My only overpay right now is my 19 year old SP Emilline Bozack at 15.7 million. She's valued at 13 but will be an S tier pitcher in a few seasons.
Any thoughts and recommendations are appreciated. Happy gaming!
Edit 1: Why I care about development funds - I've had Cairo for example and Pepe for almost the whole playthrough. Rob Glover was on pace to be a lifer but let him go at 33 due to some bad random development events. 11.5 million was too much to pay.
Buck is back to make comp level 3.
Umm.... So after 2,000+ hours, this is the first 500 ft bomb I've seen (cpu vs cpu for my Youtube series) 🔥🔥
Nice work - I've created all-time teams (franchise best players) with current and retro threads, and some city connect. I've done it all in the native PS4 application, assuming there's no conversion utility for Macs to perform any of this work on a PC :-) If I can be educated on a way to share...
reddit.comThe best defensive player I've ever seen
This guy is just incredible defensively. He has the most range you could ask for and a crazy strong arm. The clutch trait makes him superhuman late in close games. He can dive halfway to first base. He robs singles up the middle every game.
When you have a shortstop this good, you can align your defense to guard the lines and if your pitchers keep the ball down, nothing is getting through the infield.
I've nicknamed him "The Colonel" because he's the leader of the defense and his last name is Sanders. Have you ever seen a better defensive player in franchise mode?
Is Franchise Mode overwhelming?
Hello! So I got SMB 4 about a year ago. I love it. I completed one season. I am very close to completing my second season.
Next I either want to do a third season or try franchise mode.
My only question is, is franchise mode overwhelming?
I love regular season mode because all I have to do is set my lineup and play. I can handle if it’s very minimal things to do. But I don’t want it to be like a the show franchise when I have to do 50 million things lol I like the simplicity of season. Should I stick to season for my next season, or should I give franchise a try? I just really don’t want to be bothered by having to do other things other than just set my lineup and play
Newest Super Mega Baseball?
I used to play SMB when it was just metal Head all the time, can't tell you how many championships I won, and seasons I completed. I haven't touched my Xbox in a while, but I came across this post on here about Super Mega Baseball 4 by EA Sports. Is that the newest version of this BB game? How does it compare to when Metal Head was doing on their own? What's the going price for this game on the Xbox?
MLB All Century Or Anniversary Team ?
NFL in 2019 and NBA in 2021/2022 both came out with top 100 and 75 greatest players list
MLB has yet to do that beyond 1999 all century team. 30 greatest from 1900-1999 selected by voting
Should baseball make an updated ( 2000-2026) one and who should be on it ?
My fastest pitch ever, what is the fastest pitch you've thrown in game?
It's just been a while since I've tried power pitching, and still improving my pitching skills even after 600+ hrs of playing. I know my ERA is bad in that, but I swear my pitching has becoming better, and for the first time in my franchise, I have a pitcher on my team in the top 10. Currently mid-season right now with batting ego 90 and 82 pitching.
Pitcher challenge
This game needs a pitcher challenge feature.
Do batter abilities and traits influence AI batting behavior?
It's obvious that abilities can change how the AI acts. The simplest example would be base runners:
A runner on first w/ 99 speed and level 3 Stealer is going to be more likely to attempt a steal than a runner w/ 25 speed and Bad Jumps.
OK, so how do contact and power affect AI batters? Is the AI smart enough to "know" if it has a trait like First Pitch Slayer and therefore more likely to swing on the first pitch?
What do you think?
