How to bring workshop items to missions?

Just returned to this game after being away about a year and a half. Before we left, my wife and I had all kinds of problems and bugs losing workshop items when bringing them to and from missions, some due to user error and some just plain disappearing bugs.

We now have a small collection of workshop items we've acquired in our new playthrough on an open world Olympus game, and we're starting to do New Missions off of the main menu, bypassing our open world. We're on a hosted dedicated server.

We've started doing a couple of the missions, just finished Homestead for some Ren, and now we are going to go deeper into the tree from more Ren and exotics. So far, we haven't brought any of our workshop items with us on missions, just started completely from scratch. But we want to bring them. Before we do, can someone please let me know if things are more stable now in terms of workshop items coming in and out of missions? Here's my understanding of the steps we need to take, please correct me if I'm wrong:

  1. Travel to our dropship and go back to space.

  2. From Character select, choose New, then Missions, then Olympus, then set up our load out with the workshop items we want to bring.

  3. Start the mission. Complete the mission.

  4. When leaving the mission be sure to transfer our workshop items to the dropship cargo so that they go back to space.

  5. Leave the mission prospect.

When we next want to play our open world prospect, we then have to set up the loadout from our space-based inventory and that should leave us in the open world, with the mission done, our rewards in "the bank", and our workshop items back with us on the open world.

Please let me know if this is correct or if I'm doing something wrong. Thanks!

Question regarding respawning resources and persistent world?

I've recently returned to this game after last playing in January 2025. When I left I understood that resources did not re-spawn (absent a Thumper, etc.), but in my new playthrough I can't help noticing that small trees are growing all over my property and turning into bigger trees? Also, my wife swears that rocks she has cleared or put holes in have re-filled or respawned.

Is this new behavior or just our imagination? Is this a way for the devs to deal with the delta data issue, by respawning and removing the deltas?

Second question: can I assume that time stops on my hosted dedicated private server when both of us are logged out and the server is in "Lobby mode"? Or does the world actively persist without us?

Base help

Hey everyone! I’m brand new to Icarus—literally started playing last night.
I wanted to build a solid first base that I could use for crafting, storage, and eventually expand from, so I actually asked ChatGPT to help design a blueprint. 😂
The idea is a 2-story stone house with wood floors, open crafting area downstairs, bedroom/storage upstairs, and room to expand later.
Does this look like a good starter base, or are there things you experienced players would change? I’m especially curious about:
Is this size practical for early/mid game?
Am I wasting resources by going this big this early?
Any must-have rooms or layouts I should add?
Any beginner mistakes I should avoid?
I’m still learning the game, so I’d appreciate any advice or tips. Thanks!

Preparing Geometry Please wait ...

and wait ...

and wait ...

and wait ...

and wait ...

As I sit here, it's been going for 8 minutes now. Powerful, pristine rig with deliriously fast fiber, and no other issues with any other game. But for some reason, I spend a great deal of time waiting for this dialog to go away and let me enter the game.

What is causing this? How can I fix this? I'd appreciate any ideas or suggestions. Thanks.

Off line mode for HD2

I love this game. Over 350 hours played and though I take breaks, I have a soft spot for this game but I do think it should be accessible from off line. It should be possible to play this game even if the servers go down. Idc if I gotta pay an additional amount to have permanent access or whatever but as a console player, I envy the PC folks who have the mod that allows for them to play off line.

How to start COMPLETELY fresh?

My wife and I have decided to come back to this game after last playing it in January 2025. We want to start fresh, with nothing saved, nothing accumulated. We will start on Olympus and work our way up to a high enough level to enter Dangerous Horizons once we've re-familiarized ourselves with the game mechanics. The problem is that, for some reason, my wife's new Level 0 character has no resources except for 304 basic credits (or whatever they are called) but I have thousands, including thousands of exotics and red exotics from prior playthroughs.

I don't know why I retained mine and she lost hers, we only ever play together, but in any case, it's important to me that I lose ALL of this. Before anyone suggests that I just ignore what I have and not use it, please note that that will not work, it will drive me NUTZ. So please indulge me, how do I delete everything and start fresh? If I have to edit .ini files, so be it. I'd rather use an organic method if possible, but the goal remains to erase all previous data and start fresh.

Thanks for any suggestions. We're jazzed about re-starting this!

EDIT: Got it done and we are on a new playthrough!

Good time to return to game?

Steam reports that my wife and I last played this in January 2025. We recall it quite fondly, although I do remember having significant sluggishness as my base grew in size.

Since then I see another expansion has been released, Dangerous Horizons. We are considering coming back, but we would typically start fresh new characters. Can DH be played from a fresh start or is it a high level expansion? Is it worth getting? What's the best path through the game to get to it, just play the base game and then go to the DH map? We'd rather not repeat content we've already done, but we've played Styx and Prometheus already so I'm not sure there's any other path there.

We appreciate any insights or suggestions. Thanks!

Armor Set Collection.

All of the Armor Sets I've currently crafted (or brought down from the Workshop) on my Elysium Prospect.
