I am eligible for year 2 entry, but I accidentally chose year 1 when submitting my application. and recently got the offer for placement. I contacted them via email, I don't know when they will reply to my email. Will I be able to change my entry year?
Hi, I’m a Singapore polytechnic graduate currently about to serve National Service (NS), and I’m interested in applying to XJTLU for a business-related course in the future.
I emailed the admissions team and they mentioned that Singapore polytechnic applications are considered on a case-by-case basis. My GPA is around 2.6+, so I understand I’m probably more of a borderline applicant.
My main concern is regarding NS timing. Since Singaporean males have to serve around 2 years of mandatory NS, I was wondering if anyone here has experience applying to XJTLU while still serving NS, especially for a later intake (e.g. applying earlier for 2028 intake while still in service).
Did the university allow early applications / deferred admission due to NS obligations? Or did you have to wait until closer to ORD before applying?
Would also appreciate hearing from any Singapore poly students who managed to get into XJTLU with similar backgrounds. Thanks!
I already have a group for board games/ split screen co-op games but it's hard to arrange sessions since people are busy all the time, so I've been thinking about either expansion or creating a new group just for dedicated gamers.
I play on PS5 (main) and PC, have hundreds of games in my library, and I'm down to try new things. Feel free to leave a comment or DM if you are interested!
So I’m moving from Fuzhou to Suzhou! I’m just wondering what to expect in every sense lol. For example how international is it? What is the nightlife like? Any local football teams? Any insights would be valuable.
Hi everyone!
I'm a French student 23M moving to Suzhou (SIP) this June for a 5-month research internship at XJTLU.
As I'll be arriving soon, I’d love to connect with current students, other interns, or expats already living in the area. I'm down to hang out, grab a drink, explore the city, or even do some sports!
Also, if anyone has tips regarding life on campus or could add me to some local WeChat groups (for foreigners or locals), that would be amazing.
Don't hesitate to DM me! Looking forward to meeting some of you soon.
You know Suzhou for the canals, the classical gardens, and the crowds at Pingjiang Road. But that’s not the Suzhou I wake up to.
My Suzhou is the 5 a.m. tea scent floating from a hidden lao chafang (老茶坊) behind a residential alley — no signs, no tourists, just retirees playing chess and a pot of biluochun grown 20km away.
It’s the tiny mian guan (面馆) tucked under a wisteria-covered bridge in a village you’ve never heard of, where the noodle broth has been simmering for 30 years and the uncle still calls you “little friend.”
It’s a forgotten stone path along the Grand Canal where locals dry pickled vegetables on bamboo racks, and if you listen closely, you can still hear the old towboat chants.
These are the places no vlog shows. The Suzhou that only locals breathe.
And that’s exactly why I do what I do.
I offer local-guided experiences in Suzhou, Shanghai, and nearby cities — not the scripted tours, but real immersion:
- Walk into neighborhood eateries where menus are spoken, not written.
- Navigate business meetings with cultural nuance and real-time English interpretation.
- Discover workshop alleys where artisans still carve jade by hand.
- Or simply have someone who knows when the fengwei (风味) is authentic or just for show.
Whether you’re a traveler tired of postcard-Suzhou, or a professional needing English-local bridge for negotiations, site visits, or cultural mediation — let’s talk.
Not a guidebook. A local lens.
— Born here. Raised here. Still discovering.
Comment down here or DM me an interest!
Does anyone in Suzhou have dentist recommendations? I’m going to Suzhou in a few weeks and I want to go to the dentist while I’m there since I don’t have dental insurance in America and frankly I don’t want to pay hundreds of dollars for a checkup. Is it possible to have a dentists checkup without insurance as a foreigner in China? Around how much does it cost?
Play regularly in SIP Suzhou Olympic Sports Center or a place near XJTLU on Sunday afternoon. Both beginners and intermediate players welcomed.
Hi everyone! I recently received a fully funded scholarship for a Master’s program at Suzhou University of Science and Technology and wanted to know if anyone here is currently studying there or has studied there before.
I’m from Pakistan and will most likely be coming to Suzhou in September.
I’d really appreciate any feedback about:
student life
accommodation
halal food availability
international student environment
professors/teaching quality
overall experience living in Suzhou
