6.27 ct Czochralski lab-created periwinkle sapphire in my "Traverse" square cushion design. This was a commissioned cut so it's not for sale.

3 shades of Czochralski corundum!

The wonders of pulled-sapphire, all rough from Gems of Science: on the left is Red Ruby, middle is Blue Sapphire and the right is Titanium Sapphire.

I went with classic designs for two on the left: a princess cut for the ruby, and a square cushion with rounded girdle for the blue sapphire. The Ti-sapphire is cut in an original elongated hex design. I think the square cushion is my favorite: we don't often see classic designs done with precision in synthetics. I love the soft corners, and the way the design emphasizes the rich blue of the material without complicated reflection patterns and too-much brilliance!

Tourmaline or Synthetic Green Spinel

It's a swedish 1974 gold ring 18k stamped CESON, the tripple swedish corona and a G with corona.

Weighs 5.17gr but i don't know what gem is this, need your opinions.

Who has your favourite blue lab sapphires?

I’m on the hunt for a few nice blue lab sapphires. Preferably Czochralski method with a nice cut and polish, but not too much of a fantasy cut, a more traditional cut would be better. Like rectangular and oval shapes.

Who are your favourite vendors?

Sakura pink sapphires check

Finally found a seller that has pink-pink sapphires rather than purple/magenta. The stone on top is really stealing my heart but I admittedly can't tell if they're well cut so I could use other people's opinions. These are 9*11mm if size matters!

Every facet of this gemstone was carefully cut and polished by my own hands with precision, patience, and passion. Turning a rough crystal into a brilliant masterpiece is an art that reflects dedication and craftsmanship. #ruby #tourmaline #rings #gems #top

What makes cubic zirconia opaque?

Hi, I’ve recently been more into appreciating cubic zironia as the amazing gemstone it is. I was wondering what dopant/ingredient makes some types of cz opaque, or even milky.

I have a turquoise cz bracelet I wear because the hardness is just more practical for day to day life. The chemistry geek part of me has been wondering what makes the cz that opaque color (and partly wants to confirm this concept is real and not just colored resin). thank you for your expertise and answers in advance !!

Labgrown emeralds recommendations?

Hi! I'm looking for a pendant with a labgrown emeralds in 18k gold. Does anyone has good recs of places in the US or ships to the US that might work? I saw JellyLab but I dont feel comfortable with an ig only business.

Preferably would love to hear from people who had bought them! Thank you so much!

Chinese lab alexandrite?

Hello, I have been lurking gem subreddits for a while and I finally decided to post. My great grandfather was a jewelry maker and I inherited a lot of the jewelry he made because I share my great grandmother’s name… but not her taste, she loved pearls and I would prefer anything else.

My favorite gemstone is alexandrite and I would love to replace some rings and earrings. I’m looking for Chinese or Russian lab alexandrite sellers, I looked at the mega thread but all sellers are in countries out of my range and I could not find the trusted Chinese sellers list, I appreciate any recommendation as I only want the gems, I’m not picky about the cuts. If I missed something I apologize, I tried searching the topic but I could not find links.

Thank you

Coloured lab Diamond good cut big company vs lab sapphire precision cut from small cutter?

I’m wanting to make myself a pinky ring. I’m learning jewellery making and casting my own stuff etc. I want a coloured pear approx 2.5-3ct. Budget is under US$700. Stone only.

Here’s my question. Do you think it’s better value to get a lab diamond from a place like aurelinne where the cut will be what it is from places like that?

OR

Get a lab sapphire from someone who cares like Jeff Davies and son or Pacific lights?

I asked because I’m new to a lot of this but I’m also HARD on my hands just daily and don’t want to destroy the stone. I want to ware it daily but not while jewellery making obvs.

Would love any thoughts. Thank you!

Looking to buy/design - deep dark blue topaz or sapphire ring

Hopefully requests to hear what the various vendors on here have available are ok in the sub? I didn't note a rule against.

Anyway, a friend has an absolutely lovely *deep* blue sapphire-i-think ring, maybe emeraldish or at least oblong, with a narrow halo. I would love to get something similar for my wife for our upcoming anniversay.

I was going the usual online browsing, as well as contacting my local jeweler, when I came across this sub - seems like you are a lovely group of people, and if there's a match I would love to support.

I can't give you a ton of additional specs than that, it's probably a Know-it-when-you-see it type of thing. It's a bit of a tight year, so budget is probably around $2k usd, give or take, but ideally take :-)

Thank for any consideration!

My 2nd purchase from House Of Sylas - 33 ct Czochralski lab sapphire, House Of Sylas custom cushion cut.

Eric did a fantastic job with this!😀 💙

I got a bit of a surprise when I saw it's 33 ct - I thought it was going to be 26 ct (26 ct is the biggest size you can select when placing a custom order on the website).

Although custom orders are estimated to take 6 weeks, this one only took 4!

Still would've been worth the wait if it had taken 6 weeks though. 😄

My photographs (taken in daylight) really don't do it justice!
