Why are Syrians here big fans of Turks?

I made a post about this a long time ago but I'm feeling like talking about it again. Why do Syrians from here like Turks so much ? Many even admitted experiencing racism in Turkey and a lot of mistreatment but still praise Turks and even express friendship? To me this sounds totally weird I want to understand more ur mentality and try to empathize with u. I won't relate though but I will listen and try to empathize.

A New Era in Raqqa: Industrial and Tourism Projects Discussed with the Turkish Delegation

Raqqa (SANA) – Raqqa Governor Abdulrahman Salame met with a delegation from Türkiye’s Şanlıurfa province to discuss a shared vision for partnerships in reconstruction, investment, infrastructure, and industry. The meeting reflects a new trend toward strengthening economic and service-oriented cooperation between the two sides.

During the meeting, members of the Turkish delegation stated that they were ready to provide all forms of technical and logistical support to Raqqa province, contribute to reconstruction projects, and help raise service and economic standards. The delegation emphasized the importance of establishing genuine partnerships that would revive production and service sectors across the province.

Raqqa Governor Abdulrahman Salame expressed his appreciation to the Şanlıurfa Governorate and the Republic of Türkiye for the support they have provided to the Tel Abyad region over the past seven years. Salame said that Raqqa is moving forward under a five-year development vision, with the aim of rebuilding the city, strengthening its infrastructure, and improving its economic and investment situation.

Industrial and tourism cities on the banks of the Euphrates

Governor Salame explained that the province’s future vision includes establishing an organized industrial zone over an area of 5 square kilometers, building a tourism and entertainment city covering around 1.5 square kilometers on the banks of the Euphrates River, and developing agriculture-based industrial projects.

Salame stated that through these projects, they aim to turn Raqqa into an active economic and investment hub in the region.

Inviting Turkish investors to invest in Raqqa and contribute to the city’s reconstruction, Salame emphasized that the governorate is working, in coordination with the relevant institutions, to remove obstacles facing investment projects and to provide the necessary facilities in a way that serves the interests of both peoples and both countries.

Technical expertise and service support for Raqqa

Nebi Bayram, Deputy Chairman of the Board of the Şanlıurfa Organized Industrial Zone, stated that there are 25 factories in the Şanlıurfa OIZ owned by Syrian investors, and that these investments actively contribute to industrial activity in the region. Bayram called for customs duties to be reduced in order to support commercial exchange and open new economic horizons between Syria and Türkiye.

Bayram said that the Turkish side is ready to provide the necessary technical expertise and services to support the industrial sector in Raqqa. He added that by transferring Türkiye’s experience with organized industrial zones, they aim to accelerate economic development and create new employment opportunities.

Meanwhile, Raqqa Provincial Secretary-General Shuhud Abdulaziz stated that the city of Raqqa had suffered massive destruction to its infrastructure because of the war, and that military tunnels found in some areas also pose a serious obstacle to the implementation of service projects.

Abdulaziz said that, under the governorate’s supervision, urgent, medium-term, and strategic plans have been prepared for the rehabilitation of the city and the improvement of basic services. He added that they seek to establish strategic partnerships with the Turkish side in the fields of sewage systems, waste management, water treatment facilities, and solid waste.

Real estate development projects in Raqqa

Raqqa Mayor Abdulrahman al-Hasan also said that they aim to strengthen cooperation with the Turkish side in the fields of municipal services, public services, and project management. Al-Hasan noted that the municipality has prepared a comprehensive package of projects covering infrastructure, lighting, road construction, parks, and sewage lines, and announced that these projects are expected to begin implementation in the coming days.

Al-Hasan also added that the municipality is working to develop the real estate investment sector across the city of Raqqa, with the goal of improving the urban situation and creating suitable ground for investment and reconstruction.

Strengthening social and economic ties

The delegation drew attention to the historical and social ties connecting the peoples of Syria and Türkiye, stating that there are major similarities between Raqqa and Şanlıurfa in both social and economic terms.

Praising the role played by Syrians residing in Türkiye in recent years, especially in the sectors of agriculture, trade, and industry, the delegation emphasized that Syrians have made an important contribution to Turkish society and helped revive many economic sectors.

At the end of the meeting, both sides stressed the importance of maintaining coordination and joint cooperation in the coming period. They stated that Raqqa’s reconstruction requires the unification of mutual efforts and the sharing of experience. The parties expressed that this step would launch a new era of development, economic stability, and services in the region, while also strengthening investment and partnership opportunities between the Syrian and Turkish sides.

The Turkish delegation that carried out the visit included AK Party Şanlıurfa MP Abdurrahim Dusak, district mayors from Şanlıurfa, representatives of chambers and exchanges from the industrial, commercial, agricultural, tradesmen, and craftsmen sectors, the Deputy Director of the Şanlıurfa Organized Industrial Zone, the District Governor of Akçakale, the Mayor of Akçakale, as well as many Turkish businesspeople and AK Party representatives.

The visit took place at a time when Raqqa province is focused on opening the doors to regional cooperation in order to revive its service and economic sectors and accelerate the recovery and reconstruction process in the region.

I need information about settling in Syria

Salam aleykoum,

I would like to have some information about Syria. I am currently planning to possibly come and settle there for a year before next year.

I am Arab but I am a French speaker and I would like to reconnect with the Arab world and especially with the language. I have traveled a lot in different Arab countries and a friend who had studied before the revolution in Aleppo recommends that I study classical Arabic there.

I've already lived in Lebanon for a while, and the current situation there, the cost of living, and the recommendations I've received make me consider Syria instead.

I therefore have several questions: Is it feasible?

Are there still language learning centers or Arabic language schools for foreigners in Syria?

What would be the monthly cost of living in Syria, particularly in a large city like Aleppo or Damascus, with a reasonable lifestyle for a married couple ?

Is it easy to find furnished accommodation in Syria?

Do you have any recommendations for centers to learn in? And for cities to immerse oneself in Syrian culture?
