Chance me for Econ(BS) & Political Science (BA) :)

Hey guys just wanted to know if you guys think my chances for TAMU is because my freshman year I pretty much sat in the class and didn’t do anything but i definitely improved throughout HS

I have a ≈3.5UW/ ≈4.0+W GPA (we use 100 scale)
So 90UW/ 96W. And I’m ranked 301/761 at a very competitive high school in South Texas. (All AP classes except for electives that we had to take or as freshman & sophomores when we weren’t able to take ap courses and everybody had honors course) 4 on AP lang, APUSH, & 3 on AP psych. 400 or so community hours, NHS, NEHS,Rho Khappa. Internships with two Commissioners/ Lawyers in my city as well as working with my dad who’s a real estate broker. 1200SAT 650 English, 550 Math. Also wanted to include in my school we get 10 extra points for passing ap tests so I’m projected to go up to approx. 250 245 ish as my rank in September.

In my application I applied as first choice Econ BS and second choice political science BA so I just wanted to know what you guys think my chances are going into admissions :) thanks guys god bless!

Is it worth taking more APs during Senior Year for college apps.

Hello, I have a few questions. Any help is greatly appreciated.

  1. Currently I am taking AP Calculus BC, Study Hall, AP Literature, AP Research, Cybersecurity (non-AP), AP Chemistry, AP Gov/Econ. I'm planning on applying to TAMU and UT Austin for Electrical Engineering. I am trying to figure out if I should drop AP Research for another study hall, or drop cybersecurity for another study hall, or both for 2 more study halls if it doesn't really affect course rigor that much. I'm thinking of more study halls so that I could focus more on Calc and Chem and have a less stressful year where I could focus more on ECs and college apps themselves.

  2. Does class rank after the first semester of senior year matter. example: I'm top 10% rn in my class, however after the first semester of senior year I am no longer in the top 10%.

Thank you,

applied test optional and my SAT scores were already in AIS?

I applied test-optional because I got a 1200 on my SAT (I’m retaking it in September), and my SAT scores were already in AIS. Is it possible to remove them? Or am I just stuck with it?

16 v.s 17 AP classes in High School

Hello, I am a rising senior. I have taken 10 AP classes across my freshman, sophomore, and junior years, but I am deciding whether to take 6 or 7 AP classes my senior year. I am considering whether to take AP Biology or drop it. I am a finance major applying to Mays, so biology doesn't really have anything to do with my major. The problem, though, is that my GPA (~3.7) is somewhat low compared to my peers who have 4.0s, and I am in the top 25%. I don't think it'll be too big of a workload, and I am not particularly against taking it or totally uninterested. My high school is decently competitive and offers 33 AP courses, so I was wondering whether taking AP Biology would somewhat meaningfully boost my application to Mays because I know I need every advantage I can get, even by a small bit, or if I'm just overthinking this and it doesn't matter at all whether I drop it or not? I do kind of want the best possible application, though.

No SAT going into Mays

I’m in a kind of weird spot right now. I’m currently a senior that wants to apply to Mays. I am an instate student, Here are my stats:

GPA: 7/421 (top 2%)

Unweighted: 3.91

Weighted: 4.33

ACT: 30

Classes during freshmen were mostly honors. Afterwards, all my classes were either dual credit, on-ramps, or APs.

Leadership:

SkillsUSA Chapter officer for 3 years

SkillsUSA District officer for 1 year

SLT. (Essentially, the position does community wide tours and services to the public)

Awards:

SkillsUSA Nationals 2nd Place in Restaurant service in both 2025 and 2026.

BPA Economic Research State Champion

DECA State Qualifier

some other district awards that I might put. idk, the above mentioned are the important ones.

So, I honestly don’t know if I should just shoot my shot or wait for the August SAT. I can probably get a 1350+ on it. (my psat was 1420) However, I don’t know if it’ll take too long. Rolling admissions scare me, and Mays has low slots. What should I do? does the act have similar weight to the sat?

Top 7% but low SAT score - how much does it hurt for engineering?

Hii! I’m planning to submit my application for Fall 2027. I’m an in-state and currently in the top 10% of my class, but my SAT score isn’t that high.

Does having a sat score around 1300 hurt my chances a lot for engineering? My math score would be around 760 or high, but my reading&writing score is really bad because English isn’t my first language.

Thank you! I’d really appreciate any advice.

Is it possible to transfer from UT CAP to Mays?

Ive looked at the mays requirements, and they said that 30 hours or more and i need to take 4 additional classes, for UT CAP i need 30 hours, another is that I have CLEP credit for Calc I and macro/micro, so is it even possible to transfer at this point? The reason im doing this is that econ at UT got so much more harder, that i cant even think about going there, wanted to see if mays is still on the table

Honest question

I’m applying to Texas A&M and I’m worried about something I wrote in my application vs. my resume.
In my application, I wrote that I took some off periods periods because I wanted to use that time to seek a part time job and pursue an assistant Vet Certification.

I have also been volunteering at an animal sanctuary since February. I wasn’t able to find a part time job, so I’m now starting to use my free periods to just volunteer at a place.

My resume says that I “managed the dog area during off periods” along with my other volunteer responsibilities.

I’m worried that an admissions reader could see this as contradictory because my application says I took the free periods to seek a job, while my resume says I volunteer during those periods.

Would you consider this an actual discrepancy/misrepresentation, or does it simply look like my plans changed after I couldn’t find a job? Would you contact admissions about it, or leave the application alone?

I have no clue to be honest but please let me know because I already submitted everything.
