Found an absolute holy grail: 14.1" 4:3 T61 with the classic IBM badge!

Scored this pristine 14.1 T61 non-widescreen. It still holds the tri-color IBM logo on the lid and palmrest.

Intel graphics on board, so no dreaded nVidia bumpgate failure to worry about! 🤭

Currently giving it the classic enthusiast treatment.

Cloned the WinXP install from HDD to an Intel SSD 545s

I've added 4 GB RAM (Yes I know the 32 bit OS limit)

Middleton's BIOS flash on the deck for SATA II better speeds already applied.

Hunting down a Core 2 Duo T9300 and thinking about an SXGA+ panel but it's even more rare!

Can this model really not use an eGPU?

So I've had this ThinkPad for a while now (specs below) and I use it very regularly for graphic-intensive activities so I've been in the market for an eGPU, specifically an AMD Radeon RX 6600 since it goes nicely with the other integrated hardware. Now, I've asked Google Gemini about this and it said that due to my specific cable configurations it was deemed impossible but I don't fully believe that. Is there any way I can possibly achieve a workaround with still maintaining my portability?

Specs:

Processor AMD Ryzen 7 PRO 5850U with Radeon Graphics (1.90 GHz)

Installed RAM 32.0 GB (27.8 GB usable)

Graphics card AMD Radeon PRO Graphics (4 GB)

Pen and touch Touch support with 10 touch points

T14 Gen 2 - Possible tweaks suggestions? (Will change flair if needed)

Recently got myself T14 Gen 2

Originaly I planned to get like T480, or something bit more ... in need of upgrade?

Eventually I found pretty nice deal for T14 in good state and pretty packed up already, the only issue is that Im currently struggling to find any reason to ''work on it'' when it come to tweaks and stuff, which was pretyy much reason I wanted to get a Thinkpad in a first place, so Im coming to you with a request for suggestions and possibilities to tweak on this baby

Currently packed with :

AMD Ryzen 7 Pro 5850U

32GB RAM (Planning on getting that 48 soon)

500GB SSD (Yup will upgrade that if its needed aswell)

Display : N140HCR-GL2 (Deets here : https://www.eechain.com/detail/n140hcr-gl2.html )

Batery will be replaced aswell currently sitting on like 17% damage

Im running Win11 so far, but I guess I might just switch to Linux when I feel like learning it eventually

What else do you suggest to look into/tinker with ?

So far Im going to open it up in couple days to repaste and clean it thoroughly

Im down to try tinkering with Undervolting / Overclocking memories and CPU since it came with both propably undervolted/underclocked, by my information it has been bought through some refurbish service shop, so my best guess is that they did that in order to I guess prevent throtling or power management.

When it comes to Thinkpads and laptop tinkering overall Im complete amateur, so in case you have some suggestions that could be bit trickier, dont worry with sounding like youre talking to a neanderthal

Thank you very much for any useful answers, hopefully I wont have to reup this because of the flair, but this one seems right

Thinkpad t440p cooling mod?

İt seen a little weird but its working. İ7 4712mq cpu

As an engineer mindset if it is work, dont touch it.

I added 2nd cooper heatpipe and some copper

The result is unbeliveable,

İdle : before 50-55C after 40-45C

Ts bench : before 75-80 after 60-65

System Requirement Help

Hi all,

I have a new ThinkPad T14s Gen 5 Intel sitting unopened that I got free from work last year and am wondering if this will play WoW Forever. My plan is to see if I enjoy it during the beta before investing in a new gaming laptop. I am open to purchasing an external graphics card if needed and welcome recommendations.

Thanks in advance.
