Panasonic TV TX-43FX550B doesn’t stay switched on

When the TV is switched on it briefly turns on and then switches itself off. Ive stripped it down to see the back light and can see all lights briefly come on when the tv is turned on but then instantly go out. Any ideas - I’m only just learning about electronics.

Philips 58PUS8507 – vertical stripes progressed to complete black screen (backlight/sound still fine)

Hi everyone,

my 3 year old Philips 58PUS8507/12 went black.. It all started with strange vertical stripes at the top of the screen, most visible on high-contrast edges (e.g. white menu text over a movie). Unfortunately, I never took a picture of it, but this photo I found online looks very similar—even though it wasn't quite as bad in my case.

These only occurred sporadically and would disappear again after a while. Now there’s no picture at all. Ambilight, sound and backlight all work fine.

Already tried:
∙ Visual inspection of the boards
∙ Reseated all connections/ribbon cables
∙ Half/half T-Con test with no success (fault screen stays completely black)
•. Replaced T-Con

Panel failure, or is there still hope? Would really appreciate any tips or experiences with this series (58PUS85xx).

Thanks in advance!

Samsung qled tv Q60t

A Samsung tv was working just fine when suddenly it turned off and it won't turn back on(list of stuff I have tried in the end).

When the TV is connected to electricity it does turn on the red light on the bottom of the TV and it's consistently light up red except when pushing the power button with the remote or the power button on the TV itself.

At this point I think the problem is in the power supply board but I'm not sure if it's the power supply or the main board. I would appreciate any feedback. Or I could provide any extra information if needed.

Name of the parts: Mainboard: BN94-15232C Power supply board: BN4401058A L55E7-T

I have tried:

  1. disconnecting the power cable
  2. using new power cable
  3. turning it on with the button
  4. changing the batteries to the remote
  5. disconnecting every HDMI cable
  6. Holding the power button while the TV is disconnected
  7. Leaving it off for a day

Update:

  1. Check if on mainboard power cable is 12v.

1)I have tried to do that and it giving 16.4 v and some were under 6v. I checked if there was 12v going to the main board is that right?

  1. Disconnect mainboard power cable, lcd panel backlight turn on or not ?

2)disconnecting the main board and turning the TV on made the TV back lights turn on they look healthy. Note that nothing was connected except the the power board. When disconnecting the back light only and trying to turn it on nothing change so it did the same as before.

!! According to what know now and based on the tips people gave me the problem most likely is in the mainboard !!

LG LED UK6340PTF TV Blotchy. Can anyone tell me what causes this?

Hi folks, I have a 2013 (?) LG UK6340PTF TV that has recently developed these strange blotches. I did a bit of research and the closest I can find is that this is caused by the diffusers slipping; however every image I have seen shows the spots to be much sharper and more distinct than what I am seeing. I took photos of a variety of static colours because it is much more obvious behind some colours compared to others.

Can anyone confirm that this is symptomatic of moved diffusers? Or something else? I don't want to go to the hassle of opening it up just to find out it is something entirely different. I am actually hoping it is the diffusers, because that looks like a pretty straightforward fix, which means with my luck it won't be 😕

TV power supply blew up. Can it be fixed?

Hi,

My TV (Philips 43PUS6503/12) blew up with a bang while I was watching House of the Dragon season 3. There was a loud bang, some sparks, and then the TV died.

I took the back cover off and, as expected, the power supply appears to have been damaged. I've attached some pictures, and to me it looks like one of the small blue components exploded, causing the black burn mark next to it.

Can I simply replace that component, or is it likely that the root cause of the problem is somewhere else?

Thanks!

Sound temporarily cuts out on LGTV model 65UJ6300-UA

I've had this TV for at least 7 years. I've and had to repair the backlight issue a few years ago but besides that its worked fine, until recently. Out of nowhere the sound cut out and now remains silent.

I tried putting completely new speakers in it and they worked for about a day. I thought I'd solved it, then the sound went out again, so I know its not a problem with the speakers. For a moment I was able to fix this with a simple "reset AV settings" or turning the tv off and on again. Recently though, its gone completely quiet and I cant fix it, no matter what I try. At this point the TV is still completely silent, the screen works perfect though. Does anyone know how I can fix this?

Sony KD-55X85L black screen

My sisters TV had small white lines appear on their TV on the bottom part last weekend. Called support and they gave troubleshooting instructions but didn’t work on the problem. Today their TV screen faded til it went fully black, the vid is the last time it booted up with the sony logo and then fully went black again. Is there any fix for this?

TV edges bleeding? Need advice

Hi everyone, just wanting to see if anyone else has come across this issue with the Hisense U7 2025 model? I bought it as refurbished; like new from Walmart. Visually, for gaming and movies it looks great when it’s bright, but if it’s a dark movie / game or scene I see these white edges and yes, I did tweak the tv a bit to see if that was the issue and it wasn’t. I’m assuming it arrived damage, but just wanting to see if anyone else has come across something like this and if it can be fixed by a repair tech?

Anyone know if this is fixable? Philips 55pul6643/f6

Hey, I have this tv that is flickering. I have taken the back off and all the boards and ribbons look fine. Was wondering if maybe a tcon board swap would fix or if it'd need a repair that wouldn't be worth the time/money.

Glitch,SAMSUNG Model : UE50RU7172U Type No. : UE50RU7172

TV picture keeps glitching on every source — could it be an internal connection?
Hi everyone,
I’ve been having a strange problem with my TV for about two weeks. The picture keeps glitching/distorting, while the audio works completely normally.
The problem happens on every source I’ve tried, including:
Netflix
YouTube
regular TV channels
So it doesn’t seem to be related to a specific app, HDMI device, or input.
The TV is about 7 years old and is wall-mounted on a movable/swivel wall mount.
I’ve already checked the power cable. I unplugged it, plugged it back in, and inspected the cable, and it seems to be completely fine.
Interestingly, sometimes the TV would turn itself off and restart, and after restarting the picture would work better for a while. However, since about two days ago the problem has become significantly worse.
Could this be caused by a loose internal cable or connector, or does this sound more like a failing component such as the T-Con board, main board, or the panel itself?
Is there anything I can safely check before taking the TV apart?
Thanks!

Tv turns on and shuts off immediately

LG C1 OLED55C1PUB won’t power on — relay clicks but no picture. Any ideas?
I have an LG C1 55” OLED, model OLED55C1PUB, manufactured 03/2022. It stopped working a few months ago and I’m trying to figure out which component has failed before I start ordering replacement boards.
Symptoms:
TV has a red standby light.
When I press power, the red light flashes.
I hear a distinct relay click from the white power-supply board.
The TV then does nothing.
OLED panel never lights up or flashes.
No picture or normal startup.
I’ve tried unplugging it, letting it sit, and doing a power reset.
I’ve disconnected external HDMI/USB devices.
I’ve opened the TV and checked/reseated the accessible connections.
Nothing on the power supply or main board looks obviously burned, swollen, cracked, or damaged.
The relay click is definitely coming from the PSU.
The power board visually looks clean, and the relays/components appear physically secure. The main board also looks clean.
I’m currently trying to determine whether this is most likely the power-supply board, main board, or a panel/panel-electronics failure. I’d rather diagnose it properly instead of throwing replacement boards at it.
Has anyone had this exact failure on an OLED55C1PUB/C1? If so, what ended up being the culprit? Are there any known failure points or safe isolation/diagnostic tests that can distinguish a bad PSU from a bad main board or OLED panel?
I can post detailed pictures of both boards and the connectors if that helps.

Sony TV has sound but no picture – worth fixing? Service repair recommendations?

Hey everyone!
Our TV (Sony KDL-50W829B) just stopped working properly. There's audio, but the screen is completely black.
I used AI to troubleshoot it a bit and did the flashlight test on the screen, but couldn't see any faint image or menu in the background at all. Based on that, it seems like it's not just a dead backlight, but likely a faulty T-Con board or mainboard.
Do you think it's worth taking a 2014 model in for repair, or is it better to just cut my losses and look for a new one?
If you think it's fixable for a reasonable price, any reliable repair shop recommendations would be appreciated!
Thanks!

—Update:
EDIT / UPDATE:
I tested the TV with a different power adapter, and the screen actually turned on! So the original power brick was definitely part of the issue.
However, the screen now just shows static / analog noise ("snow"). When I press the HOME / MENU button, the TV's internal menu doesn't show up over the static at all (though audio is still fine).
So it looks like:
-The panel and backlight are alive and functional (no dead glass/LEDs).
-But since the menu won't render over the static, it seems like a T-Con board, video chip/mainboard, or internal ribbon cable issue.
Given that the panel itself works, does this sound like an easy/cheap fix (like a T-Con swap or cable reseat)?

TV’s bezel on the corner came slightly undone either during transport or during installation. How to make sure no debris get in the crevice and make matters worse? Samsung QN70F

Got a slightly frustrating issue with a new TV. I do not want to risk putting it back into place as it does not seem to impact the actual image. However, I am concerned debris may get in the now slightly exposed internals. What would be the best idea to cover the slight gap? Is there a specific electrical tape I should buy for the sensitivity of a tv screen? Thank you for any help.

Television turning off

For the last few months the Sony television in our family room turns off after two hours. I use a fire cube on HDMI 3 most of the time. I have reset all of the settings on the TV making sure no timers or eco settings are turned on. I have turned off Bravia sync (HDMI-CEC). I’ve checked all of the settings on my SmartThings hub, home assistant and Apple hub. The weird thing is that the KD-69X690E television does not show on any of these platforms even though it’s directly plugged into a switch connected to my router. I even unplugged it and connected it to WiFi. I cannot think of anything else to try. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Panel or PSU issue?

7-8 year old Samsung ue49mu6400u.

Starts flickering as soon as the mains power switch is turned on, before I've even turned the TV on.

Power light flickers off and on too.

Hisense 75A6NV TV has a glitched out stripe

Won this TV in a raffle a few months back, and the screen suddenly started doing this out of nowhere. It boots up normal, but after a couple minutes, this strip of the screen freaks out. A local repair place says that it could be either a defect of the screen (not fixable, no replacement part exists), or the ribbon cable to the screen (fixable), but either way it would cost me 80 bucks just to find out. That's a lot of money to drop on a TV that might be bound for the dumpster, so I was hoping someone here might have a better indication of the state of things. Is it definitively cooked, or should I roll the dice with the repair shop?
