Creeptober Prompt No 8. PenPal
Cayden C. Christophers: PenPal
C.W: >!It's PenPal, there's dead kids and stalking and all that lovely stuff!<
It was so painful. My neck burned, white hot. I was in absolute agony. Despite this, through the tears and blood coming from my mouth, I was grinning, thrilled and in absolute bliss. Every shovel-full of dirt that I heard thud against this wooden tomb filled me with absolute euphoria.
It had been so, so hard to wait. It had been so, so hard to watch him from afar. It had been so God damn excruciating to not tell him that I was here, to never talk to him, to never hold him until now. For over a decade, I waited for a chance to hold him. It was worth every moment.
I did everything I could to interact and spend time with him without interfering with his life, without being stopped. I don't know what I would've done if I couldn't see him.
There's some things I feel awful for. I never wanted to hurt him. Really, I hated seeing him in pain, I only ended that witch when she tried to take him from me. The misery and sorrow I had brought upon him, every tear he shed and night he spent feeling like he was alone ruined me. Knowing that I had caused it made the fact that I couldn't comfort him so much worse. But the euphoria I had felt when he spoke to me like he loved me for the first time was almost as great as what I felt now. Now that I had taken the final person on this planet who came close to loving him as much as I do, even in death I would be closer to him than anyone else for eternity.
I know that this isn't him, not really. I couldn't do this to him. Again, I would never hurt him, but as this boy wriggles and flails desperately beneath my body, I can pretend he's him. I can pretend that, as I die, I'm cradling him in my arms.
As the ether took effect and I drifted off, I closed my eyes and let out a sigh as I wondered, maybe in another life, after this one, I could actually spend the time I'd dreamed about with him. We could be explorers. We could be adventurers. We could be friends. Even though that's only a dream, and I know that, the corners of my lips turned up, only slightly in a smile of contentment and satisfaction. A smile of bliss. A smile of love.
