SGE hacks out of bounds and semi-griefs late night roulette

Quick late night Normal Raid roulette, immediately things are weird as SGE just casually walks out of the starting gate while we're still waiting on a first timer's CS. Brush it off as desync or something since nobody else comments on it, but they're already at the Fausts before we're able to move.

Minimal issues aside from multiple Diagnosis while I'm full HP. Then comes the classic clusterfuck first A5 pull; OT doesn't voke, bombs aren't cleared, bunch of deaths to people not transforming for the raidwides, and eventually die. Nothing out of the ordinary.

Second pull, full health SGE suddenly dies from nothing and their body is underneath the area with only their name visible. SCH spends their entire swiftcast trying to find them but isn't able to rez. They seem content to just let SCH solo heal until after over a minute later I speak up and coincidentally there's now no issue rezzing them.

They make their final comment right as the fight ends, only letting me get in my ???? before they leave. Also about PLD's comment, UCOB is the only content they've cleared (which tomestone shows they bought)

You got told off for griefing? Just have your mate start telling everyone you're new and maybe handicapped?? (and any other immediately refutable lies they can think of)

So I'll be honest right off the bat: Yeah, I said something I shouldn't have. My friend and I were already wound the hell up from our M9 run that could've been its own post honestly but there was no excuse to call someone a bellend and I probably had a big hand in provoking the response I got but holy moly.....

So I finished levelling my alt the other day, and I (DNC) thought I'd treat my friend (WHM) to some second chance points by running through the normal modes. To cut a long story short on the M9, we wiped on the first add phase about 3 times with this burger king crown mentor who kept yelling at everyone while hoovering up as many vuln stacks as physically possible and painting the floor with their innards. So we were a little short fused.

M10 and 11 go fine. In fact in 11 we get a bunch of the people we meet again in M12 and its just fine, the BLM and PLD die twice (and not to falling off the arena if fflogs is correct-that's relevant in a bit) but we one shot the fight.

Then we get into M12 with most of these same people, and the PLD and BLM keep jumping off during Feral Fission (where the arena breaks up into squares). The second or third time they did and other people were messing up, it led to this poor overhealing SGE getting their face kicked in by a tank buster. My friend got annoyed, started typing that their funnies were killing people, then ate a mechanic and died. This led to a wipe, but not before the PLD who had received a res tried to solo the boss for about 2 minutes. They claimed it was just some inside joke.

2nd pull comes around, Feral Fission comes up and I watch exactly what happens: the BLM stays still, but the PLD immediately walks off..again. So I call them out with the word I shouldn't have said and then the GNB just lost it and unleashed just a barrage of claims and insults at me and my friend:

They said it was the PLD's first time (it's not, the screenshots show no achievement (just me and the silent picto who shared a last name with the GNB) and a fflog recorded for the fight)

They said my friend got the TB so she griefed the pull. It wasn't her with the tb and she was upset with herself for getting baited into saying something and causing us to spend more time in the fight.

They then started to imply that he's somehow physically incapable of not walking off when presented with an arena split and we should've known that because we were in M11 with them and we are just AWFUL AWFUL people to make fun of someone's handicap??? Again, the logs show this PLD was perfectly capable of completing this fight without dying 2 and a half weeks ago... Also they said it was an inside joke like last pull and now suddenly its a handicap of some kind?? Even the DRG was like: yeah, sure.

I just stopped reading after a while, took the loot and left. But seriously, awards to this GNB, the theatrics were off the charts.

Surely a late night leveling queue won't go bad..

Hello first time posting here since i became a lurker lol
Imagine: level 83 dungeon, should be ez, haven't played it in a while but it's not a hard one. Tank is a returner, cool cool maybe it will take a little longer but no biggie. We run to the first mob pack, like normal, but oh wait I'm taking damage why is that? Turns out they didn't run with us, oh no worries we just have to go a little slower then.

But then, I'm still taking damage. Only reason why we're still not dead is the healer (huge props to them). After the first boss and where we get into the elevator, i speak up, to please manage the aggro on mobs because they kept hitting me. And everything just crumbles after.

I saw almost 0 mit used, the only time when it was used and i saw it was on the last mob pull before the last boss, after all enemies were dead, and the tank used all their mit, including invuln. So yeah. Not great. Wouldn't recommend.

Edit: I did report this person, so hopefully they'll be taken care of

Mentor healer texting in NN mid fight

Red is me, green is the healer.

My problem isn’t my health as at least they did keep us alive, but they prolonged the fight by not dps’ing a lot, and it was just before reset so i was kinda in a hurry to get the bonus before said reset

WHM just returning so doesn't need to update gear... in Stone Vigil

Even better part is the viper was a mentor... who laughed when the vote dismiss failed, so we all know they also said no.

I took the 30. I don't care if we were at the second boss, I can do better things in my 30 minute lock out than watch this white mage struggle to keep people alive.

Next time I get up from my desk for 20 seconds in Alliance Roulette, I'm gonna keep it to myself

Pretty sure these DPS know each other (4 letter first name starting with A, same home world)

Chat got quiet for the rest of the raid after this lol

Hm...

For information, I had to say to the tank to AOE (it's also an AOE issue here) and they did it! Yay! But I noticed the healer doing nothing else than heal, even if the party was full hp... The funny part is this person has White Mage level 55 and Astro level 92... I'm a bit surprised.

Nothing so extravagant, but the "hm?" and "mhm" (before leaving) are quite funny...

He owns Eureka and Bozja, guys!

Note: Only /p messages are here, no system messages, so it doesn't show disconnects/reconnects, vote abandon, etc., but I did my best to make it clear when they happened. Apologies!

---

Was doing daily roulettes and got Alexandria in Level Cap. Starts off normal with the usual party greetings and some glam compliments.

https://preview.redd.it/8twu64c2a52h1.png?width=599&format=png&auto=webp&s=f201c2473d3254631b2b7cae8ab7da0c74000042

We do the first two pulls no problem, but then the elephant spawns, and I notice the tank is just eating its telegraphed AoEs. We all move to the first boss area, but the tank stays behind and eventually DCs. They come back after a few minutes but don't say anything for about five more minutes. Then... they say this.

https://preview.redd.it/6mwyd62ia52h1.png?width=621&format=png&auto=webp&s=0e9204b0891c7473249f938fc42c60cf68482d82

Literally no other context. I didn't miss a message or leave out anything. Just. That.

After the "45 sec," the tank initiates a vote abandon (which fails, because huh?). They end up "disconnecting" several more times, trying to get us to kick them, I guess, but we don't. We end up clearing the first boss with me as SMN, a BLM, and a lovely SGE who kept us alive. While we were standing around before attempting the boss, I reported the tank, and the party decided we were all full of enough spite to not give this guy what he wanted.

https://preview.redd.it/4e500tp4b52h1.png?width=621&format=png&auto=webp&s=877718585ea48394646f3fe61e77e51a2806b462

After calling me "rasict," he finally left. We got a new tank, and everything went great after that!

This guy was a full mentor, all 100s, and behaved like... that...

I'm aware I could get GM bonked for my responses to him, and I'm also aware that some people will say we should've just kicked him and moved on, but since it was a party agreement not to, I don't see a problem with how we handled it. He wanted to grief and waste our time, so we did it back.

(Also, I promise I didn't leave anything out, this entire interaction was as nonsensical and unhinged as it looks.)

You gotta choose your battles.

I believe when you see a level 96 Tank running mobs in circles then dying to a Gas Bomb AoE in normal Hatali, you shouldn't waste your time or energy trying to 'give them advice' or anything. That said, I understand the PUG's contempt for the tank's poor attitude.

The WAR was a crafter mentor duo with the LNC. The PUG was likely an alt account sprout, which may have served to trigger the WAR. I am a 'sprout' playing a free trial account and just wanted my leveling roulette done. Also controller player, so I don't type unless absolutely needed.

Tpk crazies in Windhurst.

So I go to tend my island, get my weekly tasks done and realize an hour before reset that I haven't done Windurst this week, hoping a buddy of mine would get on so we could do it together. I queue as tank thinking it'll get me in quickest. Takes a half hour.

We go in, no firsties, good, hopefully this'll be quick. The story begins on the last boss. 7 minutes until reset. Ready check. 23 say yes. Everyone's in the room. I move a few steps forward so I can see myself in the cluster and the boss aggros. I did not know he aggros from that far away but he's pulled so let's go. Behind screenshot.

Griefer Tank #1 is immediately throwing shade. Few things. That was the first boss I'd pulled all run, since I stopped after each boss to look at loot.

Then Griefer Tank #2 huddles near me during the tankbuster and runs right onto me at the last moment with the buster. Griefer #1 asks if he can try to kill me next along with a picto.

Then suspiciously we fail the tower mechanic a minute before reset. Griefer Tank #1 refuses to believe multiple people who tell him he's tweaking over the firstie thing while threatening ME with GM jail for *checks notes* accidentally pulling after a 23 of 24 ready check.

For added comedy a guy who's died like 10x each attempt starts freaking out at Alxaal and Prische for their battle commentary.

Tower mechanic comes again. I soak one the first time around while Griefer Tank #2 sits by one. I watch him. Near the end of the cast he runs out, trying to wipe us again. I pop my 40% mit and go in, saving the group but dying in the process. Apparently me dying is the funniest thing ever to some people.

Boss dies. Griefer A tries to claim he saw an achievement pop. Multiple people tell him he's full of it.

Genuine curiosity over the differences of Mentor mindsets

Just looking for some opinions on a short exchange had in a Mentor roulette (myself in Orange, other Mentor in Blue).

I'm aware of the general disdain held towards Mentors. I wear the crown because I genuinely like giving newer players reasons to enjoy the game. I think a friendly community and other helpful players does more in that regard than any new content can when it comes to retaining players.

I'm not asking for a "who's right, who's wrong" here, since both can be correct in their own way. I guess I'm just wondering where most people land on the scale when it comes to landing an EX duty in Mentor roulette.

I personally have no problems performing well enough to clear them, but not everyone is me. It's likely that the people queueing in DF for an EX aren't prepared for the sharp increase in difficulty from something like a Hard mode trial or a Dungeon. I know that when I see an EX pop up, it's going to be a challenge. Not to perform the mechanics, but to try and form some level of understanding for the individuals who may have no idea what they signed up for.

On the other hand, I agree that the job of a Mentor is to mentor. It's to teach. It's to introduce new concepts and reinforce existing ones in players who may need it.

All that being said, most EX duties I've run into in Mentor roulette have been ARR and can usually be brute forced to completion with enough repetition, but I always thought the "uh-oh, an EX trial" sentiment was widely shared amongst people running Mentor roulette.

Thoughts?

Wont be surprised if I end up here

Im sorry this is my first post but I just had to do something to work through this. Just did a mentor roulette... got queued for a EX, why am I not surprised?

Random tank sprout starts saying a bunch of shit while eating mechs. I was already tired. I didnt want to be there. So I just went, screw it! If he wants to be the protag so badly, let him do it. And just stopped aggroing the boss altogether.

But that tank and what I assume was his friend healer started talking shit on me. Like sorry I dont remember content that is probably older than you guys, at least I didnt use DF for an EX trials just to drag mentors into it.

I know, I know. I was in the wrong in this situation. And even in my exhausted state I should've been playing for real and not just mindlessly doing my rotation, but I just think that we could've been civil about it instead of just throwing insults at each other...

Like, if anything, they shouldn't be using duty finder for EXes anyways...

Well that's a one way to say "hello"...

Waiting for PF to fill and this tank greeted us with this...😭 ok dawg..

u/whiaer — 5 days ago

Never in my 10 years of playing this game have I ever had an interaction quite like this one lmao

So I made a pf for storms crown and a whm joined seemed chill at first then this happened😂

Blue is me green is the whm

u/CodeVeinEnjoyerO_o — 4 days ago

What are the odds?

Green: me

Red: DPS from duty 1, DPS from duty 2

Blue: tank

Just prior to queuing for some daily roulettes, I'd been thinking of my late grandmother. First I queue up for High Level as an adventurer in need (healer) and encounter a DPS that shares her first name. 'Cool coincidence', I think. Next up is leveling.

My ping isn't great, so I'm often the last one to load into a duty. I catch a glimpse at the party list before we're off. Oh hey, it's the same DPS as earlier! Oh- nevermind, they're from a different server and their last name has a slight spelling deviation.
Both players were very nice. Did I manifest this? Is Grandma haunting my PC? Is this just a crazy coincidence? Who knows. Regardless, love you Grandma!
