I just finished the mermaid mask now what 🥲😭 I need more 😭😭😭
My sister (Missinginthesnow) made this c:
Played the game together and had a lot of fun, Symmetry is our favorite!
I really really enjoyed Mermaid Mask, I remember playing Tangle Tower all the way back in 2021. can’t believe I finished this game in 5 days and now have to wait 5 years just for the other one. I‘m not complaining but WOW time sure does fly. Anyways I like Gripp.
When I first played the demo, I initially thought that was just how all darker skinned characters would be betrayed in the game. However, Zephyr and Seafoam both have a natural skin tone (thats maybe a slight purplish red)
>!It’s also not due to the touch of the mermaid, as he’s soon to be this hue before the voyage, and Godrick isn’t purple.!<
My personal head cannon is that he’s just biracial from a parent of white skin and one of darker skin.
here's a few I'd think would be neat to see:
How did Gripp move so fast??
He went from the bilge with Mariana, then to the control room two floors above him to tilt the ship, then back to the bilge to get the key to the captain's quarters, then book it to the captain's quarters again two floors above, retrieve the mask, pull up the bell, and then began chanting, before heading back down to the engine room to be there for Sinthia with the compass?? And no one spotted him??
I’ve only played through the game once, so I apologize if they did give a specific answer, but from what I can recall, they didn’t. And I prefer it that way.
The game kind of compares mortuga to the killer, >!Gripp.!< It’s mainly the “lying” aspect that they seem so frustrated by at the end of the game. They, themselves, are a liar in similar ways to get a specific goal. The obsessiveness they both have with different versions of “her.” There are comparisons to be made, at least to an extent.
I like the insinuation that Mortuga was maybe going to use the mask himself, even if we’ll never truly know. Speaking to the mermaid is treated as a force we really shouldn’t be messing with, and our lack of knowledge can be okay. The idea that, in the end, even the victim himself decided to mess with powers outside our understanding, especially for possibly ‘selfish’ reasons related to Felicia, is very interesting to me!! Either that or he just wanted to hide it lol
Yes, I know her apparent fate by the end of the Mermaid Mask, but still, what are the chances that Felicia Stonetop is connected in some way to both of the victims of the last two cases.
One of them was her daughter Freya, in which she has an unknown relationship with
The other is her close friend Magnus (who in my opinion had only a one-sided love towards her, I don't think it was mutual. Could be wrong though)
They both also dreamed/had nightmares of the same red and black thing before they died.
Part of me wonders if the next victim will somehow be Damian dusk, even if he is apparently dead already by tangle tower, just to really screw her over. I'm curious if I'm looking too deep into it, or if she was somehow cursed by the mermaid ever since she talked to her. That might explain the shared nightmares the two victims had, maybe she was cursed for everyone close to her to meet an unfortunate fate.
I realize it probably doesn't make that much sense, but I'm just having fun theorizing about this series. There's so many cool secrets and references in the background going on, and I can find myself smiling when I put some pieces together that the characters don't say out loud.
It does make me almost a little sad that they've chosen a model where you don't actually need to play the previous games, as much as it's better for newcomers, just because it means we won't really ever get much elaboration on the previous victims and so on besides a wink and a knowing nod so nobody gets spoiled or feels lost.
Like what kind of characters, the murder, the location... or even the logo and name, or some sequences? I have a few ideas: a bankrupt mining company, headed by a pointer. Dead for some unknown reason. It will take place in a snowy Mountain. There would be a map divided into 3 distinct parts which could be reached via a station with its chairlifts on rails, like those found in ski areas I also imagine that a blizzard prevents us from using the stations to get to the mining building (which would be in the middle of the mountain, at the second station). I also had some ideas for characters... but I also imagined a figurine in crystal similar to the painting of Freya. I would also like timed puzzles in the action scenes. >!Something I felt was missing when we had to chase the culprits at the end of Mermaid's Tongue. !< I also imagine a reference to the fact that they traded ores and metals with the Gripp's Emperium. I also imagine that at the end of the investigation, a character will follow us through several rooms before the final revelation. but also. a post-credits scene where we find ourselves in the grimoire's office with perhaps the arrival of the little girl or a former character (or a suspect in this investigation).>! (I think it would also be interesting to discover who sent the beetles to Professor Pointer) !<
As much as I loved The Mermaid Mask, it really became apparent to me playing through it how little we actually know about Grimoire and Sally even after multiple games in the series. There’s so much dialogue from them and they’re both funny characters but having now played three of these games I genuinely don’t know if I could tell you more about them other than “Grimoire’s goofy, Sally‘s deadpan.” I suppose the focus is on the casts of suspects and making them all unique personalities and how these family trees intersect with each other but I do think it’s a missed opportunity to not be building up our two protagonists and their relationship over these games. I’m hoping a future case could maybe involve something personal to them so we can flesh them out a little.
Idea I had while replaying the games again, starting with the Flash one, is that apart from the early flash one being so "easy" compared to the others, with so few clues and few puzzles, is that the Secret of the Swamp has the Little Girl and makes references to the fairground.
With the updated artstyle and gameplay, it might not be too difficult to kinda just .... remake the game. Like update it, add more puzzles, make it less obvious who the killer is. Maybe even change the killer entirely. But it has the idea of someone has been framed and the red herring arguement. I like the idea of Ricky and Charles being this kind of Frenemies who are friends but argue all the time, as Charles lashes out with his frustrations but Ricky understands it.
I know we're likely to not get anymore Grimoire games, especially moving onwards, but you could certainly hint to something more. Arccording to the wiki, The Secret of the Swamp even has Sally being the cousin of Jerry from this fairground, who has since gotten married and were on their honeymoon, and would be running the fairground together, with a statue of Grimoire and Gary shaking hands, apparantly.
So moving onwards, we could have a "tease" game, which references this event, and as it's been several years from Secret of the Swamp to Tangle Tower, with more likely between Tangle Tower and Mermaids Mask, you could have it be that the Fairground was maybe a test by someone to test Grimoire, knowing how they would be needed in the future.
I cannot for the life of me seem to trigger the suspicion for Gripp. I have all 48 clues, I've talked about all clues with all people, I've removed the wrap from Cornelius Cane, I've solved a suspicion for everyone else aside from Grip, but I can't figure out what I might be missing to get his suspicion dialogie to trigger! Anyone got any ideas?
Now first the only charaters with confirmed ages
Magnus Mortuga:39
Sinthia Seafoam:18
Symmetry Silkmoth:18
Everyone else is a guess with some level of explanations on why
Dirk Dansom:27 he calls both Symmetry and Sinthia kids so I assume hes mid to late twenties fairly young but old enough to call Sinthia and Symmetry kids
J.D Wirman: 31 he grew up around the town and knew of Magnus but never met him so I thought they'd be of similar age but Magnus is older
Madam Tadpole: 35 kind of age where you could have lived several life's with several identities and explored several careers and I thought she'd be close to Magnus in terms of age
Mariana Moon: 51 honestly for the same reasons as Madam Tadpole just thought she'd be older
Dr.Zepher: 42 I thought he'd be of similar age to Magnus but I felt like hes older then Magnus due to his Wisdom
Godrik Gripp: 36 I felt like he'd be close in age to Magnus but younger due to his longing to adventure but also be old enough to feel like life was passing him by in his shop and wasting away in his shop
edit:Changed Marianas age because I realize yeah she definitely seems pretty old not sure why I thought otherwise
The door that leads to the aft deck you have to remove the curtain before inspecting the door. However, you have the option to move back the curtain. So my question is does moving back the curtain do anything? Whenever I leave the room I always move back the curtain but no interaction changes and no mention of the curtain throughout the game.
