Pain is unbearable; advice?

I used to be able to handle my tattoo removal pain. Each tattoo takes about 30 seconds. I use 5% lidocaine cream before and take 600mg ibuprofen. But, this last time, it was so unbearably horrible I started hysterically crying. I am coming off an SSRI so I'm convinced that's why. Does anyone have any pain tolerance tips? I literally could not handle it the pain was so bad. My doctor won't prescribe me anything other than 800mg ibuprofen. Please help!! Thank you

Feeling like nothing is happening

So I have had 3 picosure sessions to the middle and one on the sides, I know the process is very slow and the tattoo is very new in the middle, started removing 2 months after getting it because the artist made it completly different what I wanted... I just want it to be gone and feel like I can't wear clothes I want or feel feminine at all and it's ruining my life.

In 2 weeks I have 4th session, I have sessions every 8 weeks. My laser doc said next time she will hit with stonger laser volume as well.

I just feel like this process is never ending

Tattoo removal recommendations (not removery)

I am looking to get a black and grey tattoo removed that is fairly new. I have scheduled consults with omni Lux med spa (cutera enlighten laser), Oklahoma plastic surgeons (picoway laser), longevity (picoway laser), and mariposa aesthetics (cutera enlighten). Does anyone have experience with tattoo removal at these locations in okc? Suggest others?

I have had tattoo removal with removery in the past and was not the biggest fan nor the biggest hater. Since I've already experienced their process, I am looking for information on other locations.

Tattoo removal clinic pushing for every week. Need opinions

Same as heading. I have a small tattoo on the side of my hand (20 years old minimum fading)
Booked in at a clinic last Monday - all good but pushed heavy on a package. Relented and Bought package of 8 since that’s what I’ll likely need.

Asked to book in 8 weeks later and she said no they do it every two weeks and I don’t need to wait that long and waiting 6 + weeks isn’t necessary.

Bit of a red flag 🚩 but anyway I said ok let me see. Turns out she had me booked in one week later and even though I still have slight scabbing and blisters.

Is this because of the pico laser that is every two weeks (or in their case one or are they at it?) I was heavily upsold (I know that’s not right word ) even during treatment they were promoting other products and services? I had to say no 3 Separate ways

plateauing - advice?

for context:

- I’ve had probably 16+ treatments

- picoway for most of them, but I tried a q-switched laser twice at a new clinic. recently went to another clinic and had test patches on the saturated red parts which reacted strongly

- was a dense coverup, and quite scarred (I believe there was scarring before, but I blistered pretty bad in the beginning, esp the red so I think this caused more scarring)

- been at this since like 2019; had around 5-6 treatments in 2019, took a break during Covid, and since then have been spacing sessions out 4-6+ months apart

- would like to look into fractional laser but having a hard time finding a place that offers both. I believe the scarring is making it so the laser can’t penetrate/the ink can’t escape but idk

any advice + insight very appreciated!!

to be fair, it was extremely dense and black before so this is definitely progress, but I feel like i stopped seeing progress around the session 12. the last couple particularly look as if nothing happened.

6 sessions in 1 year

Going to do one more session this week, then wait a few months, then cover it up with a beautiful peony flower ❤️✨

Here's an update for my removal - about 1 year of progress

This was a prison-style tattoo that was almost 30 years old.

In case anyone wants an idea of how much I've spent: I paid $706 for 6 treatments.

It was $226 for a 3-pack with Spectra laser (Groupon deal).

$480 for a 3-pack with PicoPlus laser (Black Friday deal - 20% off).

The tech who has been treating me told me (when I was asking about the Black Friday deal) that if it wasn't gone by the 2nd 3 pack, she'd keep treatment going until it's gone. I don't have a ton of faith that they'll stand by this since it wasn't in writing, but if they do it, great!

Worth it to keep going?

Hi everyone! I’ve recently started my tattoo removal journey and already seen good results from the first session! 💕

However, when I went in for my second session the tech said she was already at the max strength she could use for my skin tone, and since any further sessions would just be at the same strength, implied that this second session should be my last….

It’s my understanding that laser sessions are supposed to increase in strength for each session. If I’m already at the max I can do, is it still worth it to keep going or have my ink particles gotten as shattered as small as they are ever going to be?? 😅

want to get this removed (or parts of it)

i recently got this tattoo (the all black tattoo was already there, the colorful stuff is new) and am looking into getting it removed once it's fully healed :/ i dont like how any of the colors turned out and i dislike the placement of a lot of it especially the green spikes at the bottom. i definitely dont want to cheap out on lower quality removal but i also dont have crazy money to spend so im not sure how to navigate this. ive read a lot of differing opinions on the removal of color especially red. would greatly appreciate any advice, im also getting a removery consultation soon

Blast over vs. more laser sessions

I’m in the process of tattoo removal and reached out to an artist in my area (I live in Brooklyn) about a possible cover up. I’m really happy with my progress after two sessions of laser removal and the artist suggested a blast over vs cover up because of the size of the tattoo. Should I continue with laser removal so I can get a proper cover up or does a blast over make sense? He suggested a patch work of a few different tattoos to get the results I’m looking for. Any advice is welcome! P.s be nice, I know this tattoo is ugly lol

3.5 years & 13 sessions

I’ve had 13 sessions over 3.5 years and the 2nd photo is where I currently am at. The first 1.5 years I went every 6 ish weeks but now I go every 5-6 months and get Pico sure. It seems like there is no end to this thing! While it’s faded a lot, I feel like the black will never be gone. I welcome opinions from those who have had a successful full removal from a very black and bold piece like mine…will it ever be 100% gone?

Edited to add: the black tribal in the center area was actually a coverup tattoo (was previously black underneath already) so it’s technically two tattoos. The black tribal on the ends were not a coverup so I assume maybe that’s why it’s fading there faster..

$5500-$6500

I was just quoted $5500-$6500 to surgically remove this tattoo in Phoenix. This is crazy right?! I’ve been doing laser for a year (6 treatments). I’m looking to just get it surgically removed at this point bc I have 2 other tattoos I’ve been lasering for over 5 years and they still aren’t gone. Im tired of wearing long sleeves at work.

3 sessions worth, pretty good!

my tattoos are quite dark and are so clean (cause my tattoo artist is a boss) just had a change of heart and this is only
3 sessions in, my hands are fading better than the ones i’m removing on my arms (obviously) but other than massaging and drinking water i want to know if there’s anything i can do
to speed up the profess

Severe anxiety and regret. Worth Removing?

Hi guys. I got this tattoo 3 weeks ago and while I do love the design I have many regrets on placement and flow. I was initially super happy with the placement but ever since I have gotten it I cannot stop looking at the weird twists and turns. Every time I look at it I go into a spiral about my regrets. It has been affecting my personal life as well as my ability to do my job at work. I have even gone to the doctor to work on my anxiety. I know it will take a long time if I do decide to remove this, but I’d like to know the optics on whether or not this would be a good idea/ if it will remove well.

has shading already gotten lighter?

before my first session & after like a few hours. is the shading already lighter? or is this gonna go back after a few more hours/days? i‘m also aware this is in slightly different lighting but it does look really a lot lighter now.

Tattoo removal - update. 6 sessions over 5 years

*Update* I’ve only had one session between the bottom left and bottom right picture. Unsure on laser type. I think I have some hypopigmentation or scarring ie when they hit some of the lines with laser, there is no frosting or pain. So I think I will likely have some ghost tattoo ongoing but very happy with the cost vs time that have gone into this. I have another session planned next month and will give it another 12-18 months again.

Black out / neg space removal.

Starting removal on this sleeve, only leaving the flower at the bottom and the hand. I've had 2 sessions so far, but it has to be broken into 4. Will post progress when I do one full pass on the arm.
