Hi everyone! I want to share my first—well, actually, my third—paint job ever. I have a habit of collecting whatever appeals to me, even if I don't actually play the tabletop game, and the T'au Empire is exactly the kind of thing I like!

I want to build a diorama featuring at least one model from every unit type. I decided to start with something simpler—a unit that, it seems to me, doesn't see much tabletop play. That way, I could get some practice and figure out the right way to hold the brush. I’m really happy with the results, although, to be honest, the eyes turned out a bit "messy" for my liking.

I’m trying to headcannon and kitbash a salvaged mech unit, probably use 30k solar aux, but whatever. I’ve painted this guy in the 2 colours I like, hit it with streaking grime, removed an amount I thought looks cool, and added some typhus corrosion here and there. Ignore any bright white spots, just spots I accidentally hit and are waiting to be grimed.

I really like it so far, but it feels really flat? Do I need a pop of colour, or maybe a little gore? Not sure where to go with this, any advice is welcome!

Edit to add: maybe some osl around the plasma coils?

I kitbashed these kroot using some spare Tau/imperium parts and I'm really happy with how they turned out. From a model standpoint, I feel like Tau players have been spoiled this edition. It's insane we got a whole kroot range refresh, new vespid, new stealth suits, and a new kick ass new epic hero. While I wouldn't mind getting more kroot in the next edition, my main wish is that we get a new model for commander Longstrike (my beloved). He was the first epic hero character I ever ran and I was really sad to see him be removed this edition. I'd love to hear what other people are hoping for.
