A Texas-based white supremacist group staged what appeared to be its largest public demonstration to date over the Fourth of July weekend, marching through Washington, D.C., in a brief, coordinated display before dispersing before noon Saturday.

The Houston Chronicle editorial board has a piece calling for better transparency when it comes to tracking how much water data centers use, but also rejecting efforts to block their construction. Here's a key quote:

>As state Rep. Cody Harris (R-Palestine) noted during the hearing, the attorney general’s office could, at minimum, legally compel every data center to respond to the water development board survey. 

>Last we checked, however, Paxton was on vacation in Iceland with his latest paramour while he continues to settle a divorce filed by his wife “on biblical grounds.” 

>Paxton has no problem investigating Lululemon for putting plastic in yoga pants or threatening children's toothpaste manufacturers for not making it super-duper clear that you should only use a pea-sized dollop of bubblegum-flavored gel. But when it comes to enforcing regulations passed by his fellow Texas Republicans, well, apparently Reykjavík is more appealing this time of year. 

>Other politicians are taking the concerns more seriously. 

>Sid Miller, the outgoing agriculture commissioner, recently called for a statewide moratorium on data centers. He has been joined in that call by Clayton Tucker, the Democrat vying to fill his seat. That’s overreach, even if it is politically popular.

Bit of a rant here:

When I moved back to Texas, I had moved to Williamson County. I’ve since moved to Travis County and got what seemed like a harmless text saying it looked like I haven’t registered to vote at my address yet. It said to text YES so that they would send me a new voter registration application.

I went ahead and replied yes to get a new voter registration application and was sent a piece of mail saying “Send Left-Wing Liberals the Message - We’re Keeping Texas Red”. It is pretty appalling (but not surprising) that the Secretary of State & Republican Voter Engagement PAC would allow this. I know they don’t like us “liberals” but it’s bullshit that this is allowed.

I think I’ll go to their office this week to voice my concern. Seems like this should be illegal.

What is up with Dan Patrick and Greg Abbott thinking weed is so so so bad, they argues that he wants to keep the public safe and that it destroys families, but you can literally say the same thing for alcohol, if not worse, I've geniuenly been waiting for years, when is it most probable it becomes legal?

Republicans are running on hate this year. Abuse of power is on trend.

"The Senate is ignoring the will of the people."

Congressman Keith Self has made that argument.

Now he's proposing that Texans no longer directly elect their own U.S. senators.

If senators aren't listening to voters, is taking voters out of the process the answer?

I came here to vent about the ever growing chasm between reality and the focus of our state leadership. I’m an 8th gen Texan, and my accent just returned while sharing with my husband another example of how this state wastes money and time. In this instance it’s Abbot’s denial of permits for painted crosswalks. I’m so dang tired of our governor and his gang dwelling in such juvenile behavior while I’m spending my days doing meaningful work like attempting to raise functional, potentially employable children, working 10 hour days in corporate American, and squeezing in laundry and food. Have I seen any of these crosswalks? Has anyone who is claiming to be against the crosswalks seen them? I haven’t because of said focus on meaningful activities. The latter- of course they haven’t. It’s middle school performative politics over at the capital and Abbott is the Vice Principal. They are treading on all of us. We need another Ann Richards around here and a legislature that passes bills, but instead we are paying them to party during the leg.

We do not need another term for anyone connected to this administration. In the meantime, thank you for your attention to this matter.
