youtu.beA true survivor: The biggest, most battle-scarred Giant Pacific Octopus I've ever encountered scuba diving. [OC]
We were 43 minutes into our dive and on our way back to shore when I saw a large arm with suckers swing out and over the kelp.
A few nights ago I was able to film perhaps the largest giant Pacific octopus I've ever found out in the open. I was fortunate enough to spend about 30 minutes with it as it calmly made its way along the reef.
This octopus is a true survivor. I think it only had 1 or 2 complete arms as most had been bitten off into stumps. It had scars all over its body, missing suckers, and clear injuries to its arms.
This octopus has seen some things, that is for sure. Such an amazing encounter.

Shark Photo I took freediving a few miles off the coast of O'ahu
From an album of 200 pictures during this dive, this one is my absolute favorite. The way the shark is dead center in the frame, fins equidistant from the borders, and the pure symmetry of this apex predator just gets me stoked. Hope you enjoy!

Photo I took that makes me wanna strangle myself.
We were very lucky to witness this scene: a shark swimming below a school of barracudas. Just as the shark aligned perfectly with the fish, which would've created some epic photos, what did I do? My dumbass decided it was time to tweak camera settings and bang I fucking missed it. I'm surprised I survived natural selection because holy cow I have the IQ of a worm.
Edit: I do agree this is a cool photo. I'm just saying I wish I could see the comp I had in mind with my own eyes 😅

youtu.be🔥 This Octopus Couldn't Resist Exploring My Camera [OC]
I stumbled across this juvenile giant Pacific octopus yesterday on a solo dive in 96 feet of water. It was just hanging out on a ledge. I filmed it for a few minutes and then curiosity got the better of it and it had to explore my camera. I've been having some good octo luck lately!

Skeleton shrimp are tough! This one got whacked in the cranium by a giant snotball, but grabbed it and started picking delicious tidbits from it. Nikon Z8 Nauticam USA SMC-2 Backscatter Underwater Video & Photo MW-4300
Story: Year 1972. You're a scientist sent on a mission under the ice shelf in Antarctica to reach and explore the bottom. You are sealed in a tiny submarine on your own, with your assistant on the line. There are no portholes, so you have to navigate using your terminal.
Level generation, music, sfx - everything in this game is procedural and written in typescript without any game engine. Only built-in browser APIs are used for audio and graphics. There are no textures, meshes, sprites, samples, the only assets are voice-over audios. Without them the game weighs only 188KB. I'm honestly surprised that it was possible with code only and with ASCII rendering.
The game is a part of vibejam and I have to say this wouldn't have been possible in such a short time without AI. I've been making games without AI for 7 years, and such speeds are insane to me, it's finally just a pure creative process, with practically nothing between me and implementing my ideas. A year ago something like this would have been a huge pain, now there were no substantial problems during the process.
It's only 10–15 minutes of playtime and is meant to be a one-time experience. There are three different endings.
If you want to play, it's free (I highly recommend playing it on PC with headphones):
