Tips for a new player

I'm going to be starting The First Berserker Khazan tommorow and was looking for just general advice especially when it comes to difficulty settings. For context I've played and beaten all the souls games with my favorite being Sekiro and Bloodborne and my favorite souls-like is Lies of P.

So I'm obviously not adverse to a challenge but some have said this is the most difficult game they have ever played. Is that just hyperbole? I'm planning to play on Normal setting to get a proper experience. What would you veterans recommend?

Ozma is officially a pain in my butt

I'm not going to say he's the hardest boss I've fought, but he's up there.

I've been banging my head against him for 2 days, 6-7 hours total. I am finally starting to constistenly get him to his second phase but usually with only 2-3 heals and a prayer.

Just wanted to share my frustation.

I'm running a spear build. I first fought him wearing the Crushed Dreams Armor, then I tried Faded Memories...now I'm using the Golden Armor and it's been the best for him. the rear attack damage and the moonlight awakening skill both are good for damage and continuing to chain it but also for getting the hell out of the way too.

Anyway, I'm going back in. Wish me luck

Every bossfight in this game seems so peak

I just beat this boss on Expert in my first playthrough and man… I’m genuinely amazed.
Once the combat system finally clicks, it’s pure crack.

I finished Sekiro and Lies of P before this, but honestly, when it comes to combat, this game might beat both of them overall. If you embrace the ultra-light armor playstyle, the fun you get out of that massive stamina pool is absolutely undeniable.

Why Khazan resonated with me more than Elden Ring

ER does a lot of things really well, don’t get me wrong. I love the game, but I just personally enjoyed Khazan more and here’s why:

For starters, the combat is way more fast paced and has many cool combos you can do instead of the norm slow paced combat in a lot of soulslikes and soulsbournes. Even with ER’s huge build variety, it still didn’t feel as enjoyable as Khazan.

ER is definitely the greatest open world I have ever played. Every corner has something for you: mini bosses, loot, lore items, secret items, secret dungeons. It definitely warrants me to explore a lot more than in Khazan. Even though Khazan is technically not open world, the exploration in it is decent, but not as good as ER.

Main bosses in both games were really good in terms of design and movesets. I enjoyed them in Khazan more though.

My favourite bosses in Khazan: Maluca, Viper
My favourite bosses in ER: Maliketh, Festival Radahn

I hated the dragon fight in Khazan though (Hismar), the camera angles became super annoying.

In ER, I hated the Godskin Duo. I summoned my Mimic Tear to jump them like they owed me money.

Story or plot wise, I would give it to Khazan because it was more straightforward than ER, but I also enjoyed how Elden Ring told the story through its items and side characters. Sure, it’s cool that you put the pieces of the story together yourself, but I personally prefer a more straightforward experience.

And sure, there are others that imo are better than ER like Sekiro and Lies of P, but I wanted to focus on Khazan mainly because I believe it is underrated , unlike ER which is slightly the opposite.

Starting first playthrough of this game and I'm excited.

I just beat Lies of P and I've had my eye on FBK for a while now. I finally bought it last night and I'm pretty excited to begin playing it. Are there any tips I should know before starting?

Beginner Difficulty Question

My little brother really wants to play The First Berserker: Khazan after seeing a video of it on YouTube, but he’s far too inexperienced with games to enjoy it without getting mad and possibly giving up. Is the beginner difficulty friendly enough for an 8-year-old boy who isn’t very good at video games?

I hate skalpel so much

I genuinely despise this stupid fucking boss. I hate that stupid fucking coffin, I fucking HATE shields in this game in general, and I especially hate that stupid fucking "I'm gonna attack you super fucking fast across the map because of plague lmao get fucked" attack.

This stupid fucking boss is easily on the same level as bringkus for me, fuck this guy. I'd rather fight a reskinned Trokka, at least I'd be having fun doing the fight.

First play through looking for an average build

I don’t like making games too easy by picking an inconspicuous weapon that happens to be a moveset buster. Like how the kusarigama in Nioh 1 makes the game quite a bit easier cause the range trivializes a lot of the boss moves. Are there any like that I should avoid or are all weapons pretty standard.

Looking for Dual Wield build advice.

Hey guys I just unlocked the final area of the game and i’ve been using the Beastslayers set up until now. However I heard the Bloodthirsty Fiend set is the best in the game for duel wield and i’ve been looking to swap but it weighs too much to keep my stamina under 60%.

Should I:

A - Stick with Beastslayers’s for now and maybe use Bloodthirsty Fiend if I ever decide to play NG+

B - Just use it despite the Agility loss (how much of a difference does it really make)

C - Change the weapons scaling to B+ strength scaling and C willpower scaling then respec (will losing some of my stamina recovery rate stat be worth it or ruin the build)

Thx for the help!

I can’t use dragon slayer follow-up, does anyone know why?

Im pressing exactly what the skill tree saying; Hold R2 > R2 but the second heavy is not registering? What am I doing wrong?

Late boss fight. Holy crap.

Glaze fest incoming....

OK, I haven't yet fought >!Ozma!<, and my feelings may change when I get to him, but I just finished fighting >!Reese!<and I can not recall the last time I experienced such an incredible boss fight since Isshin, who I know is frequently held up as a gold standard for boss fights, and rightfully so.

Honestly, the music, the moveset, the visuals. Even Elden Ring has only given me anything close to this experience maybe once or twice, and that game is like quadruple the size. Just bums me the hell out that this dev team won't be doing any more. The combat in this game alone needs to be yelled about from the rooftops to all other ARPG game devs. Unbelievably good.

That's all.

Golden Armor vs Crushed Dream

So I was looking for like the best armor and stuff for a spear build and everything I found online was the golden armor. And I rocked it for a little while until I came across the crush dreams armor and I think it's pretty badass as well. Both of them have a unique ability but I don't know I think the the crush dreams wins out for me.

What do you all think? And if you have another armor altogether that you'd like to suggest please let me know.
