Go check out my first ever fanfiction about The Outsiders on ao3 my username is fawnsleeping.
So I’m planning a movie night next Sunday night and I just want to show off my Two-Bit cosplay before then. I had to improvise the outfit
What do y'all think happened to Cherry after everything? What's ur headcanon for where she ended up in life
I want a playlist that truly feels like you’re an Outsider! Any suggestions for songs in the comments are greatly appreciated
This is a question that popped into my head due to curiosity as I stared at my wall, contemplating life for the millionth time. I couldn't get it out of my head.
Just wonderin'.
After reading and / or watching The Outsiders, have any other only children yearned for siblings ? I absolutely loved the dynamic between the Curtis brothers, and there were many other characters who were mentioned to have siblings, like Two-Bit and Tim Shepard. Even Dally and Johnny,— who have notably distant or strained relationships with their family, share a bond that’s often referred to as “brotherly”.
As a disabled only-child who has dealt with isolation quite a bit, I absolutely started yearning for the sibling-ship which was so prominent in both the film and book. Does anyone else feel the same ?
And for people with siblings; do you relate to any of the portrayals of siblings? If both of you watched / read The Outsiders, did it change how you viewed each other?
happens usually around December and may bc of school and all that and I’ve been around for two years atp so fun! my obsession with this book/movie/musical is unlike anything ever before I’ve watched the movie 11 times read the book 3 times and listened to the musical far to many times. love Sodapop, and an a diehard PB&J shipper that’s all just wanted to post since where getting a small fandom revival
I just want to rant about a few things I have never heard talked about but are fascinating to me. They're mostly about Dally sorry in advance. If anyone wants to add their thoughts or what they find fascinating that people don't really talk about then the more the merrier.
1.when Ponyboy is confined to his little bed rest due to exhaustion and a concussion and has just suffered a slight mental breakdown due to the death of Johnny a week before Randy's just left after Darry chided him for even bringing up Johnny. Then immediately afterwards Darry says "Ponyboy Curtis put out that cigarette!... you're not going to die if you don't get a smoke. But if that bed catches on fire you will." Like valid concern and I get it but again Johnny just died in a fire and he's being like oh don't you go burning to death. Which seems a little insensitive. And again I totally get why he would say it but still also maybe I'm reading too much into it and we do love Darry.
Dallas when Ponyboy asked how he knew about the church answered "I've got a cousin who lives around here somewheres. Tipped me off it would make a tuff hideout in case of something" I know logically that no one technically lives in a vacuum. So it goes to reason he would have more than just parents. But the idea of his extended family is intriguing to me. Because we literally know almost nothing about his family except those two sentences and when he talks about how his old man doesn't give a hang about whether he's in jail, dead in a car wreck or drunk in the gutter. But in his cousin we have someone who while he may not be incredibly close to given the fact that he doesn't know where exactly he lives. He still communicates with or did and that person looked out for him in a way by offering up knowledge of a location he could go to if he were ever in trouble. And I just assumed that being who he is with his own family life probably being dismal he probably would spend as little time at home as he could and then assumed because of that he wouldn't have contact with those outside of immediate family as a result. And the fact that he immediately changed the subject does that mean he doesn't want to talk about his background or life or does that mean he's lying about the cousin even existing.
This one might be stupid because I don't know much about rodeo or Jockey culture but it's mentioned that Buck is Dally's rodeo partner and he is a jockey for some races. Are races at rodeos similar to the kind say at like the Kentucky derby. Does he wear the little jockey uniform? To me that doesn't go with his rough guy image in my head but like I don't really know anything about these things. Also the fact that it's the one thing he does honestly and does his best to win to the point he'd knock a guy's teeth out for suggesting he was the one who fixed the races kind of suggests to me that it's the one thing he has self worth in. He wants to be seen in this one thing for his talent and not just who he is the rest of the time.
And finally Dallas and his relationship with Sylvia and what I'm curious about from the little we know about it. Also I'm kind of going to compare him to Bryon from TWTTIN just to try and explain better. We know Dallas went steady with her, that they'd broken up before and gotten back together again. That the reason why they broke up was because she unfaithful and she's done it multiple times. Now in order to understand why I find this fascinating let's to compare that with Bryon. Who we know had two major interests, Angela and Cathy. There's been many girls he's dated before but those are the two major ones in his life. He was obsessed with Angela but he never really did ask her to go steady with her like he did Cathy. Because if you remember he asks Cathy if I got a ring would you go steady with me implying he didn't have one already to give to her which had gone steady with Angela he probably would already have a ring. Then when Angela went after Ponyboy he didn't take her back. So does that mean in some capacity Dallas cares for Sylvia. Even if it's not exactly love because he doesn't seem like he would be the kind to be the most forgiving person. And yet he's taken her back at some point. Is it a he's just doing it because it's what society expects type thing. I don't think so because while Two-bit mentions a Kathy he's not serious about her so even within the gang it's not necessarily a thing that has to be done to conform. And Dallas makes sure he's not conforming to societal standards. Is he doing it because while he says he doesn't bother him if his parents don't care there's still a part of him that does desire someone to care about him and getting in a relationship is his way of fulfilling those needs. Is it he doing it because he feels obsession idk.
Thoughts on any of this.
Photo is from the church scene
Also, Dally’s hair is a hc, sorry it isn’t book or movie accurate 😢
I’m so glad at how well this turned out !!!
