Badly need advice where to celebrate my birthday.

Hi! I badly need some advice because I only have a few days left to prepare.
I just want to celebrate my birthday somewhere special.
My first choice was Taiwan, but since our travel date is only a few days away, airfare for two is already around ₱28,000–₱29,000. I’m also not sure how much we’ll spend once we’re there, but I’m estimating our total budget (including airfare) would be around ₱50,000–₱60,000.

I searched for other countries, and the cheapest option I found is Macau. Round-trip airfare for two to Macau is around ₱24,000. I’m estimating our expenses there, including a side trip to Hong Kong, would be around ₱25,000–₱35,000, so the total would still be around ₱50,000–₱60,000.

Since I’m running out of time, I also considered traveling locally. But honestly, I was shocked! Flights for two to Siargao are already around ₱50,000, and El Nido is about the same. Even taking 2GO by sea would cost around ₱16,000 for two, and the travel time is much longer. At that point, it almost feels like it’s more worth it to travel abroad.

Should I just push through with the Macau + Hong Kong trip? What would you recommend? If you have a sample itinerary, I’d really appreciate it.
We’re not really the type who enjoys visiting temples, shrines, or places just for photos. We prefer activities, unique experiences, good food, and also having time to relax. So we’d probably skip most sightseeing spots that are mainly for taking pictures.

Do you think it’s still possible to do Macau + Hong Kong, including Disneyland, with a total budget of ₱50,000–₱60,000 for two (including airfare)? Or would that be too tight? I’d also love to hear any budget-friendly tips because I’d rather not spend the full ₱60,000 if possible.
Thank you so much! Please help! I still haven’t planned or prepared anything because this trip is very last-minute. 😭

P.S. We’ve already been to Vietnam, Indonesia, Boracay, Cebu, and Bohol, so we’re hoping to visit somewhere different this time.

Planning To DIY CEBU tour

Hi! We want to experience the Moalboal + Badian tour and the Oslob whale watching, but we have a few questions.
We will arrive in Cebu at **12:00 AM**, so we plan to find a place to stay first before heading to Moalboal the following morning.

**Moalboal**

  1. What time should we arrive? Can we just walk in to avail of the **Sardine Run, turtle, and coral snorkeling**activities?
  2. Can we also walk in and join a **canyoneering tour in Badian** afterward?

After that, we plan to stay overnight in Oslob for the next day's whale watching.

**Oslob Whale Watching**

  1. What time should we arrive? Do we need to make a reservation, or can we just walk in?
    **Sumilon Island**
  2. Can we also just walk in and hire a boat to go to Sumilon Island?

Thank you!

Airbnb or hotel recos in Ho Chi Minh, Vietnam pls! 🥹

We’ll be staying in HCMC for 6 nights and would love to hear your recommendations. We’re currently considering Taibo House 021/022 but we’re still a bit unsure. 😭

If you’ve stayed in HCMC before, where did you stay? Any Airbnbs or hotels you’d recommend (or avoid)? Thank you🙏

Budget for first time south east asia

Hello all,

This is my first reddit post (M25, netherlands). After a tumultueous 10 years, i decided to treat myself to a trip to south east asia for 11 weeks. I'll be visiting thailand, vietnam, laos and cambodia. I am a huge overthinker and i'm anxious about the budget. I'd be very grateful for some perspective and experiences money wise. My travel style is like that: private accomodation every night (doesn't need to be luxurous, just clean), i like to visit most places solo (not big on organized tours), and food wise i'm okay with street food, 7/11, or the occasional western restaurant. Budget wise, i imagined 2000 euros per month, or 500 per week. For my 11 weeks, that translates to roughly 5500 total. My international flight is already taken care of. Will take some regional flights where it makes sense. I'd be very thankful for your experiences and insight!

EDIT: All numbers are in euros. In dollars roughly 600 dollars per week.

Solo trip in Manila

I'll be in Manila for 5 nights and 6 days. What safe solo activities would you recommend for a woman traveling alone? I've already visited the National Museum of the Philippines, so you can cross that off the list.

I'd also appreciate recommendations for places that are easy to get to and generally considered safe for solo female travelers. Thanks in advance!
