Hi!

I wanted to take a moment to introduce myself.

My name is UngroundGinger (Grace) and I’m a Midwestern-er. I have been a follower under Earl for quite some time. I am a certified cat lady (and dog person, my husband and I just adopted our second great pyrenes, Rex, in May) and I have a lot of degrees that don’t do much in this economy. I have a day job working at an interpreting agency (I do speak Spanish, but I am not an interpreter, just help run the business). I also am a board member for another non-profit based in the KS/MO area, but here we will stick to Earl & the Catsbah.

Cats are life. When folks read that, they may think I’m just obsessed with cats. In reality, I mean cats have kept me alive. Through anxiety, ADHD, medical problems and adolescence, my cats have always been by my side. They heal the soul in way I don’t think science can describe (yet).

I guess that’s enough about me. I also wanted to let everyone know Stephen and I have narrowed our two current needs for funding right now: the Zeffy page and the Chewy gift cards need. Right now, Zeffy will help fund a few quotes for construction in the pods. We received a generous quote of about $1k to furniture the entire wall of one pod. This is an incredible connection and a great price. For fear of suturing all of the wonderful people replying and helping us out, I think cross-posting, sharing, and sending the Earl’s story and these posts would do wonders (we recently found out that the non-profit sub is not there to support non-profits, which sucked a little). Whatever movement the cats make, we can triple with help from everyone here and across the cat-universe.

Some wonderful kitties to end the weekend (and start the work week)!

Here is a video showing off the solar, propane generator, (old) battery, and moving into the kitten container!

That is where the AC, the new ceiling fans, and the kittens are, of course.

Even with 5 days plus of over 100° heat index, the AC worked at 90% and kittens stayed cool! The extra fans definitely helped keep the cool air moving when the AC had to work hard.

I'm here helping out during the sabbatical of the Catsbah overlord...I apologize for the delay but I will be posting as much as much as possible.

I'll also be posting updates to the camp and everything we could use help with.

I've officially hit my breaking point. Thank you all for helping me hit my prime day goals, but even with that win I am still bitter and angry all the time. I've lost my ability to see the light in anything.

Maybe after I am done filing for bankruptcy, losing my house, dealing with family court, and attempting to manage all the damage the above is doing to my health, I'll be able to start engaging people again.

Until then, I'll just be trying to deal with the consequences of being a decent person in a world designed to cater to the worst.

In the meantime, /undergroundginger will have access to my camera and will be giving periodical updates. Please extend her the same courtesy you give me.

The boys are getting into it. I had to call an end to round 1 before someone got hurt.

That was one hell of a storm yesterday. I had to detour to get here because another tornado touched down near me. Earlier in the week, one touched down pretty much at the end of the nearest road and went directly away from me. Yesterday, one touched down about a mile north, also headed away from me.

I am one luck SOB. And people question why I want to set up a camp in the middle of the desert where there is no water. gestures to all the water around him

I am a few hundred dollars short of being able to start my open loop power system. I just about have enough for the inverter, and that one battery has twice the power of my current expensive closed loop system. The Jackery works great for mobility and covering initial needs, but additional batteries get expensive quickly. With the open system, I can use any battery.

There are wells on the property, so now I just need to get a pump system to fill the tank and a propane tank to heat the water, I'll tell you wh-aat.

We bought 800 more watts of charging power, a water tank, tankless water heater, outdoor utility sink, RV style roof access ladder, and a water cooler/heater icemaker combo(that one is for me).

I still need some gift cards to get some battery storage to soak up all the fleeting hours of sunshine between the ever more frequent storms. Please help if you can.
