use of AI for thesis

So i’m working on my final thesis and I’ve used ai for some parts. I never did copy paste, I’ve mostly used it as a support to help me with the chapters in english (since it’s not my mother tongue) and to better organise my work. I’m getting very anxious for the plagiarism/ai check that my university does, is anyone ever been accused of using ai and faced serious consequences? like not being able to graduate in time or having to rewrite the whole thing?

I know I shouldn’t have use it in the first place, I have no excuse for that. I’m just trying to imagine the worst case scenario and see what I can do.

Correct hypotheses?

I'm writing a master's thesis in psychology - I'm doing an experimental research on stress connected with short form videos and ways of coping with it.

The experiment goes as follows:

The subject is presented with three short form videos in a way that simulates scrolling.

Aftrer that, there are 4 groups:

one gets a possibility to skip the videos if they becone stressed,

second - watches the whole thing and a calm, nice video after that,

the 3rd group is posed with some sentences that help with cognitive reappraisal,

the 4th is control group.

I'm using MiniCope to see if the preferred coping mechanism has any say in how effective the assigned coping is - for example, if person A presents with preferred coping as avoidance in MiniCope, if presented with tha avoidance (Skipping) group, will it work better than on people with different preferred coping?

I'm trying to pose some hypotheses but I don't want them to be directional - just "will the preferred coping strategy influence how well the assigned strategy works"?

What would the correct hypotheses be? Please help, I have already given my professor some ideas and she's not satisfied:')

I am terrified of ruining my thesis

I am at the very end now of my integrated master’s (4 year course as combined with a 3 year undergrad). I was more consistent in effort than I have ever been and, for once in my life, I am looking at submitting a few days before the deadline rather than a minute before. The problem is I have no idea how to use this time wisely or if I’ll accidentally ruin my progress by tearing it apart too much before submission. I would really appreciate your input.

I know it‘s common to feel like your writing (10,000 words) isn’t great, but I am getting increasingly anxious about it. Everyone else is still intensely writing and editing which I did a couple of weeks ago and now I feel like I’m missing something. I have printed it out, read it through for grammar and structure, made the figures show what I think is good to know (then again, I am not sure how to make it embellished).

I think a core fear is my paper is bioinformatics and evolution not molecular biology (which has all the fancy figures and complex molecular level pathways). My field has barely anything on my protein. I am primarily making inferences based on evolutionary groups and why I saw the pattern that I did (based on known differences in those species, but it doesn’t feel as technical and is mainly me forming arguments). I want to strengthen my arguments somehow, but there isn’t the literature nor words spare! I have cut words down for weeks now and it really feels fragile for editing now 😞

[Academic] Help my sister finish her masters thesis by responding to this questionnaire

Good afternoon everyone,

My sister is currently undertaking her Master’s dissertation in Marketing at the Faculty of Economics of the University of Coimbra (Portugal) and would greatly appreciate the support of the community in completing an essential stage of her research.

The purpose of this anonymous questionnaire is to analyse the extent to which social media marketing activities influence consumer behaviour, particularly with regard to purchase intention and brand loyalty.

In an age where we are constantly exposed to advertising across multiple platforms, this topic is both highly relevant and particularly significant in today’s society.

Should you be willing to participate, you would be making a valuable contribution towards helping a student successfully complete her degree. It is somewhat ironic how challenging it can be to share academic research of this nature online, and I believe that posting it here may provide meaningful support to her work.

Thank you very much for your time and support!

What’s one AI tool that genuinely helped your research process?

My qualifications: Currently exploring academic research workflows and AI tools for thesis work.

Not talking about hype tools — genuinely useful ones for:

  • thesis writing
  • citations
  • research organization
  • productivity
  • paraphrasing
  • academic workflow

Would love recommendations from other researchers and PhD scholars.

Writing a dissertation about something that traumatized me

I’m writing my dissertation about the effects of the COVID vaccine, but I had a period of paralysis after taking it, and the whole experience became a pretty deep trauma for me. I’m physically better now, but emotionally it still affects me a lot.

Part of me wanted to write about this topic because I thought maybe I could turn something painful into something meaningful, or at least regain some sense of control over what happened. But every time I sit down to work on it, I feel overwhelmed, anxious, or emotionally stuck. It’s hard to separate the academic side from the personal experience.

What makes it worse is that I’m already pretty late with the dissertation, and I feel embarrassed to even talk to my supervisor about it. I keep avoiding the conversation because I’m ashamed of how behind I am and because I don’t know how much of the real reason I should explain.

Has anyone else had to work academically on a topic that was personally traumatic for them? How did you handle it without completely burning out emotionally?

Stuck in research

I have been stuck for a while. I'm trying to make things, read papers, try methods. But I always reach a dead-end, like I do not know what to do and what I can develop with my research. It's been a cycle.

But the thing is. I already presented my research proposal to my professor and now should be on the process of building my thesis but.. I'm still stuck.

I do not want to cram my thesis.

Just any advice on how to overcome this. I tried stepping away, taking a break but I feel like I am wasting more time. I also feel like I am losing motivation.

I'm lost with my thesis

I fully procrastinated my thesis process. I have a topic and did some preliminary literature research (that I didn't really know how to approach). My supervisor wasn't a lot of help and burned out, so recently I got a new supervisor. I'm doing qualitative research on the opportunities and constraints of value sensitive design methods in early stages of de jure standardisation to include underrepresented stakeholders.

In three weeks, I need to hand in my draft thesis with the data analysis completed. I've done 3 interviews with 3 more lined up early next week and one the week after. My supervisor told me I need at least 10. I am not confident in my current literature research so I have to put more work in that.

I'm thinking of faking an interview with AI. How do I approach this most efficiently? AI can be useful but I need to grasp the matter first before using AI I feel..

Who can give me advice on how to go about this?

Hi guys;

I am so desperate to the point I will ask for this in here to get some help.

I’m currently a master’s student in linguistics conducting a research study for my thesis. I’m currently collecting data for my research, and I would really appreciate your participation. ( if you are from USA / KSA/ EGYPT/ JORDAN please reach out)

The process is quite simple:
• First, you will need to take an English proficiency test whenever you are free and available. The test may take a little time to complete.
• Participants who meet the required English level (B1+, B2, or higher) will then receive a short text to read and record themselves reading aloud.
• Once recorded, the audio should be sent back to me for analysis purposes only.

Your participation would be extremely valuable and greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance for your time and help!
