Here i got what i lovingly call a "superstock" Thinkpad T500

Its got 8gigs of ram

An SSD

And is running on NixOS

Its honestly been a blast to play with, it can play older games nicely (c&c, age of empires, old VNs). And surfin' the web is a breeze. I mainly use it to burn and rip CDs/DVDs since im working on a media server (both me and my stepdad were both always obsessed with physical media so i got hella choices).

Turns out, im on a trip with my lenovo thinkpad e14 gen7. I forgot the charger, but since its usb-c, I figured any cellphone charger with PD would work.

I used a 20W charger, AND LOOK AT THIS: [see image]

So, turns out, it can detect the exact energy input and display it as a warning.

I searched through the whole city, and found a Motorola 68W charger. Turns out, even while specs ensure atleast 45 watts of power, it can only provide 24W (according to bios warning). Now. Ive asked chatgpt for help to research about possible consecuences of using this to charge it while powered off, We've figured out it should be safe. What do yall think? ¿Is it safe as a temporal alternative to charge the device while powered off? ¿Would there be any consequences? Tomorrow ill talk to support.

It’s been a week since I gave my Dell Inspiron 15 5100 (10th Gen i3) to my mom and bought this ThinkPad T440p (4th Gen i7) for myself, and I’m absolutely loving it. It’s also my first time using Linux; I chose CachyOS for no particular reason—it was just the first one that popped up in the search bar, so I installed the ISO. Of course, I then watched about 40 hours of tutorials just to grasp the basics, and it’s been smooth sailing ever since.

The keyboard is very comfortable, as is the touchpad; the screen is adequate for my needs, it fits in my backpack, and it’s built like a tank (I’ve dropped it twice already and it’s still alive, haha).

As for Linux, I love the customization freedom—I even changed the app launcher icon; I’ve really made it my own. I recently discovered the concept of "ricing" and plan to learn a lot more and dive deeper into it. The system is lightweight and ran my favorite games—Minecraft and Stardew Valley—natively without any issues.

I’m still getting used to open-source apps, but I’m enjoying them—especially Obsidian, which I’ve switched to instead of Notion. The only problem is my video editing software, CapCut; there’s no Linux version, and it’s going to take me a long time to adapt to Kdenlive.

In the future, I plan to get a laptop with a dedicated graphics card to run DaVinci Resolve, but until then, I’ll keep upgrading this machine and pushing it to the limit 😋

So basically I have this dell latitude e6410 with an i7 620m and 8gb ram but whenever I research about this laptop I see that nobody cares about this laptop and the community for this laptop just doesn't exist while the ThinkPad T410 has such an alive community it makes me jealous now don't get me wrong the dell latitude is amazing it's repairability is quite nice you just remove one screw and the entire back comes off the i7 620m is crazy good for something that came out in 2010 I just wish it was popular like it's competitor
