Stealth…

I am the ripe age of 38 and have (until recently) avoided rollercoasters like the plague.
Summoned up the courage and have been (slowly) going on them.

I love:
Smiler
Wicker Man
Galactica
Nemesis Inferno and Reborn

Enjoy:
Swarm - not a fan of the drop 😅
Walking dead - not that exciting but it’s still fun
Saw: the drop 😱

Hate:
Thirteen - it’s the airtime. Makes me want to puke. Not liking this ride made me wimp out of getting on Nemesis as I was scared the sensations would be the same…

I’m going to give Colossus a go today- haven’t managed it yet as it keeps being closed 😆
I need to try Stealth but the drop is scary.
Can someone give me an idea if I may like it or hate it?
We are 14 minutes from Thorpe. Colossus and Saw are the first on our list 🥳

First Time Visit ✅

About a week or 2 ago I made a post asking about Thorpe Park before my trip, so I just wanted to follow up now that I’ve actually been.

I went this past Monday for the first time visiting from out of the country. My home park is Busch Gardens Tampa, so I was interested to see how Thorpe compared.

It definitely felt like we picked the perfect day to go!

My biggest compliment is how operations were insanely good all day — multiple trains running on every coaster and dispatches were fast.

Completely different vibe from some local US parks where you feel like you’re waiting forever between trains, or they only run 1 train on slower days.

Most rides were 5-10 minute waits. Besides Hyperia which was about 20min.

We ended up doing:

Stealth x3
Hyperia x3
SAW x2
The Swarm x2
Nemesis Inferno x2
Colossus
plus a couple of their flat rides (which are a good variety, and are quite fun!)
We skipped the water rides because of the cool weather.

A day at Thorpe Park is great when the waits are low because the park is so compact. You can get from one side to the other in like 5–10 minutes max, so the whole day became; ride → short walk → next ride almost immediately

Compared to BGT, the coasters are definitely much shorter overall, but the operations and compact layout made the day feel nonstop. BGT has longer “journey” style rides, while Thorpe feels more like constant adrenaline hits back-to-back and then an abrupt end.

Also:
Hyperia absolutely is great, but man is that ride is too short. Very intense and the airtime is amazing, but it ends so quick. I wish it was about 20-30 seconds longer, and then I’d have it up there with Gwazi and Velocicoaster.
Stealth’s launch is ridiculous every single time
SAW was way more fun than I expected

Overall:
A very successful day and first time visit. A great park that is not as immersive as some big US parks, but they do have great theme areas. Thorpe Park is great with a wide variety of coasters and rides. I definitely plan to go back the next time I visit the UK!

Saw - The ride

I visited Thorpe park over the weekend on Saturday and Sunday, and had an interesting experience riding saw. On Saturday saw was notably smooth, to the point I thought it was the smoothest of the day, but it was pretty painful for my hips and groin area for some reason? On Sunday it was horribly rough - like headache inducing - but I didn’t have issues with the restraints, does anyone else relate?

Nemesis Inferno

Just wondering - does nemesis inferno make anyone else severely dizzy and nauseous?? None of the other coasters have the same effect on me as Nemesis seems to.

Solo day today

I went to Thorpe park alone for the first time today.

I was meant to go with my partner but they had to work last minute.

I was very hesitant to go in the morning but around 11 am I just pushed myself in the car and headed there.

I had such a nice day! It was so calmn and chill. I just plodded along at my own pace.

Met a really nice and friendly group of people on surge as well which was pleasant.

Was such a quiet day too. Went on everything about 4 times. Got to experience a lot of the front of rides too as I was in no rush and just qued that bit longer.

I would definitely do it again. Maybe bring a book next time if I'm there from open to close. Have a cheeky beer maybe.

If you have ever considered it I really recommend doing it.

First trip in over 7 years. Boy, am I impressed

I know those who go frequently may disagree, but I just got back from a 2 day visit after 7 years, and I am beyond impressed. I don't just mean the obvious new addition since then in Hyperia, which was stunning - but the park overall.

I was unsure what to expect - 7 years ago, I wasn't massively impressed with operations, condition of the park overall, etc. But I really wanted to try out Hyperia, and my partner now loves theme parks and had never been, so it seemed a no-brainer to get the hotel plus the Annual Pass deal back in January.

So our stay in the Cabins finally rolled round (basic, but I think the value for money was fantastic personally), and we spent Monday and today in the park. Sure, it was the beginning of the week, so it was bound to be quiet, but I'm amazed at operations :

Two trains on everything that had two trains.

Barely any downtime, and whatever was down, came up quickly.

Fastest dispatch times I've ever seen. I timed Hyperia at 22 seconds from unload to leaving the station.

Virtually no graffiti.

Friendly staff (in the main).

The place looked and felt taken care of.

Working effects!

Honestly, after my 3 visits to Alton Towers this year so far - I'd rather travel the extra 3 hours and visit Thorpe Park. Whatever Thorpe Park are doing, Merlin need to spread it around.

And if you're staff on here - thank you for an amazing couple of days!

Last week of August.

Dutchie here, I got a trip planned to London for the last week of August (arrive 25th, leave 31st) and I was thinking of going to Thorpe Park but I have no clue on how busy it's gonna be with the holiday and schools maybe reopening. Can someone tell me if it will be packed or will I dodge the crowds?

Question about wind

This is the wind speed at Thorpe Park tomorrow, I’m not sure if that’s too windy as the gust speed is about the maximum the rides can operate in. Although I’m not sure if rides can operate in gusty wind but not consistently fast wind. Anyone have any idea?

What is this?

Looks like it’s for fright nights, surely too early for that?

I just wanted to say how amazing the staff were today!

None were particularly helpful, but that doesn't really matter, they were all making sure you had a great time, I had multiple members of staff telling me to 'have a lovely day' and they were all smiling, and clearly having some sort of fun, and it made my day! Thanks guys!!! And they were operating the rides as if their life depended on them getting a train out before the next one arrived!!

Trip to Thorpe Park

Hey guys!

Im planning to go to Thorpe Park on the 18th June and am wondering how busy the park will be. I go to Thorpe Park many times during the season but I avoid summer as it can be packed. Any advice from anyone? Thanks.

Im also asking for any advice if the park were to be packed for that day.
