New Ship Update!
Exciting news! We've begun modeling every single Belfast worker's house from 1911. Obviously we can't properly model Titanic until we know what the guy who installed C-Deck's plumbing had for breakfast.
Other progress:
- Modeling the farms that supplied Titanic's food
- Recreating the forests the Grand Staircase's wood came from
- Modeling the sheep responsible for the carpets
- Full recreation of Southampton's 1912 sewer system
- Modeling every passenger's childhood home
- Simulating historically accurate North Atlantic plankton
- Remaking Belfast because one brick looked suspiciously modern
Unfortunately this means the ship itself has been delayed another 6 years.
We hope to begin modeling Titanic shortly after completing the British Isles.
Do the devs have a plan B for the game?
I'm actually more optimistic lately that the game will eventually be finished and we will see a fully modelled Titanic (albeit not in the near future).
My greater concern is continuity amongst the dev team... Is there a plan B if one (or all) of the current team find themselves unable to work on the project future? Is there a plan for the research and modeling to be shared with other researchers if (heaven forbid) the current team stops working?
Parks Stephenson
So it appears Parks Stephenson is "retiring" from Titanic research and apparently posted a pic on facebook burning 30 years worth of research notes. Any one know what this is about and does it have anything to do with recent THG drama?
Update: apparently it was a "social experiment" and he just burned 30 years worth of pay stubs and credit card statements https://www.facebook.com/share/p/1ETjeNJfW6/
Parks Stephenson bamboozled us.
He tricked us all. Turns out IT wasn't actually his titanic papers, but he got us all.
New Alpha Video/ Trailer
Very Soothing music throughout, my wife thought I was listening to Spirited Away. lol Looking forward to the model shop!
CQD to SOS: A Titanic Story - Edinburgh Fringe
Is anyone going to this? its on all this week. I'm going Friday.
Edinburgh Rep / Erstwhile Media
It's 12:15AM, April 15th, 1912. Titanic has hit an iceberg. In approximately two hours, over 2,000 people will be in the freezing water of the Atlantic Ocean, with survival counted in minutes. Their lives depend on three men – Titanic radio operators Jack Phillips and Harold Bride, and Carpathia radio operator Harold Cottam – and the radio set that broke the day before. Fate has placed Phillips, Bride and Cottam, three working men doing a job, at the centre of one of the biggest peace-time tragedies of the twentieth century.
This project is dependent on one person, isn’t it?
I was very saddened to hear about the loss of Kyle’s neighbor due to the bad weather. However, that got me to think what would happen to the project if, god forbid, something happened to Kyle, or if he decided he had had enough one day and decided he has had enough of Titanic and wants to quit?
Is there anyone else trained who could or would take over the project? Or is it pretty much entirely dependent on one person?
Actual Good Updates in the T:H&G Livestream.
I was pleasantly surprised by today’s T:H&G livestream regarding the alpha. Actual updates surrounding the ship’s hull. Massive improvements coming to the UI. And they want to release a roadmap for work regarding the hull of the Titanic.
They’ve actually started work on the interior of the ship. They’ve begun modeling the cabins and lining them up with the frames.
