Top 5 stock market APIs I use every day

Hey guys,

I’ve tested a ton of data feeds. Here is the exact stack of stock market APIs I keep integrated every day for data ingestion, charting, and strategy sweeps.

1. Live Streaming & Order Book: Polygon

You all probably know this one, but it's honestly the smoothest WebSocket API out there for raw, low-latency price action. I use it to stream real-time ticks so my execution engine never gets caught off guard by a sudden price flash.

2. Fundamentals & Historical: Financialmodelingprep

An absolute must-have for pulling clean, deep fundamental data. It lets me sweep income statements, balance sheets, and historical ratios via simple REST endpoints without having to manually scrape SEC filings.

3. Data Enrichment & Analytics: Sentimentick

I use this API to inject critical data right into the middle of my pipeline. It scans news and social feeds to spit out quantitative sentiment scores, and it also handles technical analysis directly. It really helps filter down the tickers and find healthy candidates for swing-trade signals.

4. Global Coverage & End-of-Day: eodhd

Great for when you need to expand your bots outside of just the US markets. Their API gives you access to a massive library of international stocks, ETFs, and historical splits with excellent uptime and straightforward documentation.

5. Backtesting & Free Tier: Alphavantage

Essential for the early stages of building a new strategy. Their API is incredibly reliable for pulling standard technical indicators and historical daily bars, and their free tier makes it perfect for sandbox environments and local testing.

Hope it helps the new developers and traders out there! Let me know if you have any questions or what your API stack looks like.

IBM’s 25% crash just exposed a brutal truth about the AI boom 📉

IBM just had its worst day since 1987, dropping 25% over a minor revenue miss. The CEO literally put out a letter saying they "faltered" because clients abruptly paused software upgrades to panic-buy data center hardware and memory before prices spike.

Here is the actual lesson for investors: Tech budgets are a zero-sum game.

Everyone thought AI would lift all tech stocks together. It’s doing the exact opposite. Corporate budgets aren't infinite. If a company drops millions extra on physical servers and memory to build AI pipelines, that cash gets directly cannibalized from their legacy software and SaaS renewals.

Take a hard look at your portfolio. If you are holding traditional enterprise software stocks relying on steady contract renewals to hit earnings, they are sitting ducks right now. The AI gold rush is real, but right now, the hardware bottleneck is starving the rest of the ecosystem.

If your portfolio makes your heart race, you’re gambling. How I switched to a 360° investing mindset.

Hey everyone,

If you’re currently staring at charts at 2:00 AM, chasing losses, or dumping money into high-risk garbage hoping for a quick 10x to fix your finances, I’ve been there.

Here is how I finally broke the cycle, stopped treating the market like a casino, and actually rewired my brain.

First step: Accepting that real investing is boring as hell

Gambling is loud, fast, and highly emotional. When I started out, I was completely addicted to the dopamine. I was buying zero-day options, chasing whatever meme stock was trending, and constantly trying to perfectly time the market.

But real, successful investing is actually incredibly dull. If your portfolio is making your heart race every single day, you aren't investing. You're playing roulette.

Here is the framework I use now before putting a single dollar into any stock:

  • Delete the casino apps: I uninstalled the shady, high-leverage trading apps that are literally designed to look and feel like video games. If the UI has confetti, get off it.
  • The Three-Angle Rule (No more buying on whims): If I buy an individual stock now, it can't be because of a single hype post. I force myself to check three things first:
    • The Fundamentals: I look at the actual numbers. Does the company make real money? Do they have a healthy balance sheet, positive cash flow, and manageable debt?
    • The Technicals: I check the charts to make sure I'm not catching a falling knife. I use basic indicators like the 200-day moving average and RSI to see if a stock is completely overbought or oversold.
    • The Sentiment & News: I look at what the media and analysts are saying, but I also monitor social media buzz. If the retail hype is completely disconnected from the actual business reality, I walk away.
  • Patience (Stop treating the market like a vending machine): In gambling, if you don't get a payout in five minutes, you get pissed off and chase a new high. Investing doesn't work that way.
    • The 24-Hour Rule: Once my research says "buy," I force myself to wait a full day before actually making the trade. This completely kills the urge to FOMO into green candles.
    • Letting it play out: I buy with the intention of holding for months, if not years. I don't panic-sell because of one bad red week, and I don't panic-buy because of a sudden green spike.

Shifting your mindset isn't about giving up on making money. It's about realizing that the slow way is actually the fastest way.

When you gamble, the house always wins eventually. When you actually do your research and let time do the heavy lifting, you become the house. Stop looking for a quick jackpot and start building something that lasts.
