hey everyone! figured i’d share our little project here for anyone into the raleigh/local nc music scene :)
i help run Crowdshutter — a new local music press/media page covering shows around the area through live photography + blog coverage. we’re mostly just a bunch of music lovers trying to support local bands and document the scene as it grows.
a lot of the shows we shoot are honestly just for the love of it — we’ll often come out and cover gigs for free in exchange for getting into the show and being able to support the artists. (our photographer also always loves if you give her a band sticker 😂)

Hey all,
Looking to put together a new post punk project in the Raleigh / Durham area
Think along the lines of:
The Chameleons, The Sound, Snake Corps, Sad Lovers and Giants etc. (Bass forward, Atmospheric Synths, Chorusey guitars)
I want to lean into mood, melody, and atmosphere.
What I’m looking for "hopefully"
-Most importantly, a vocalist (ideally someone comfortable being a frontman and helping shape lyrics/melody)
-Guitar, bass, and/or keys interested in writing collaboratively
-Drummer (eventually for live setup, but programming/home recording is fine at first)
Important:
-Ability to write and share ideas remotely in between practice.
-More interested in songwriting and building material than casual jamming. Familiarity with post-punk, goth, shoegaze, or atmospheric alt is a plus (not required if you “get” the vibe)
I can play keys, bass, guitar. Wherever the best fit ends up being.
Let me know your instrument(s) or preferred role, or share any recordings you may have that might fit.
I've played locally at COB, Pour House, Kings, Neptune etc. (Synths).

Are there venues that have concerts or dance clubs for sounds similar to 90s 00s alternative, dream pop, dance with darker synths? Looking for a queer scene that has patrons in their thirties and forties. The music itself can be modern but have a similar style.
Our band is about to lose our current practice space. what do people generally do for space in the Trianglue? when I lived in Los Angeles, bands would rent buildings in industrial areas, but that doesn’t seem to be a thing here. Any suggestions appreciated. Thanks!
