i’m listening to two hot takes currently and I clean full time for work so i’m constantly looking to listen so i decided to start from the first. i noticed on a few episodes back (currently on ep 162) she said “oh yeah i had a co-host but it didn’t work out”. who was the original co-host because i never noticed.? Is she just saying that or did she really have a fall out?

I’m honestly a huge fan of the show. I listen every week. I usually enjoy the guest hosts… including Michaela (as I was a fan of her a long time prior to THT) but lately I feel compelled to skip every episode ft. Lauren.
I’m not really sure it’s on Lauren or Morgan (as in one is more off-putting than the other) but they don’t strike me as friends. Or even friendly?
I get the impression Lauren doesn’t want to be on the show UNLESS Justin is also there. Lauren is a LOT more bubbly when Justin is on. It’s a new change I’m noticing as they’ve both been on the show less.
I always thought their ‘threesome’ was a bit weird, as Morgan would talk about their sex life & whatnot in front of Lauren, but also go in-depth about being cheated on in the past, etc. It was a confusing dynamic because they make it sound like Justin & Lauren have known each other much longer than Morgan’s been in the picture.
Lauren doesn’t seem to ramble on & on about her moral superiority when Justin is on.
When Justin isn’t on, they just… snip? at each other. Like a ton of snide, backhanded compliments back and forth.
Looking over Lauren’s socials, TBH, she strikes me as a “pick me” person. She talks soooo much about being religious, traditional relationship roles, etc. but every other pic on her IG is of her ass lol (which I really don’t care about, but it makes the verbal pandering in every episode annoying)
She also strikes me as more politically conservative than Morgan. So maybe I don’t like her much as a personality, but still.
I don’t really follow their socials heavily, so I’m not sure if I’m missing something, but I kinda wish she’d move on. Similar to Ale (tho I miss her. I really enjoyed her perspectives, they were genuinely nuanced).
EDIT: Without jumping to conclusions, it seems like Morgan is keeping her & Justin “separated” recently too. Like it’s rare for them to all be together outside of him “dropping off wine”
So I worked a lot through college and my parents helped with a fair chunk. I graduated with $30k left, in part because of my parents but a huge part was my work as well.
And I also fully understand that Morgan got a doctorate which is SUBSTANTIALLY more than undergrad.
But per google, a decent estimate of her income is $615,000 and $1.78 million. Meanwhile mine was $50,000 ish and through strict budgeting and living in a very cheap rundown house with multiple housemates I paid my 30k off in less than 2 years.
I dont say that to brag, I say that to say I am genuinely a normal young adult with a normal income, and I got rid of the debt very quickly.
So when shes making half a mil- a mil per year and hasnt paid it off yet?? And finds a way to mention it in numerous episodes??
It almost feels like she mentions it so often to try and be relatable. But (at least to me) it doesnt come off as relatable, it comes off as simply annoying. Because you're complaining about a normal person issue when you have a VERY ABOVE normal income, so it objectively should not be an issue for her. For example, if you care about your student loan debt so much, why did you buy a NICE house before paying the loans? (I havent seen a picture or anything of her house, just going off of how she described it.)
And she CAN and IS relatable on so many other levels. You can be wealthy and relatable, but trying to be relatable on financial areas feels borderline rude. Like there are people genuinely struggling and cutting corners to pay their debt. You DONT HAVE TO, and you havent paid it yet.
Idk if I'm just being petty or if other people have felt this way.
And also as a last note, I honestly do love the pod and overall I really like her. But this area really grinds my gears :)
Edit: just got to the part in the ep where she says she has 200k of student loans. That’s lower than my estimate in the comments. On the LOW END ESTIMATE she makes 500k. So what I’m really saying here is respectfully don’t you dare complain about your debt when you could pay it ALL OFF THIS YEAR and still have 300k to spend.
In her recent podcast imperfect people at around 20 min? when they are talking about labels morgan says she is autistic with adhd. I know she is not the only one doing this but I feel like people don’t understand what autism is any more.
My dad has autism. He only thinks in pictures, having no internal narrator, is a mathematics savant who has won several awards and works at an ivy league, not exaggerating almost exclusively only talks about 3 things (math, piano, politics). He does not make much eye contact, does not enjoy conversation much, he likes to sit in rooms w you in silence. He has not much sense of what is appropriate and if you try to talk to him about something emotional he does not know how so will get up in the middle of it, say “here’s bach” and start playing a piano piece. Side note, I love my dad a lot.
I like morgan a lot and I like her podcast but I have been a long time listener and from what I know about how high school went for her, and from what I can tell about her body language and conversation style there is no way she has any kind of autism even if she was trying to cover it up. People have no idea what autism actually is any more. Being awkward does not mean you have autism, it means you are awkward. I really wish she hadn’t said that because so many people listen and take cues from her.
Finding snark pages when you’re PMSing is like Christmas morning. I had to look this up because I’m listening to the newest episode of THT after taking a few months break. I’ve been a listener since almost the beginning and a Patreon subscriber last year. I spent the better part of my Patreon subscription listening to older episodes but the newest ones are getting unbearable.
I don’t know why exactly but I hate Michaela. (Hates a strong word I just avoid her episodes) and avoiding her episodes are getting harder and harder since she is fucking everywhere!! She’s so pick me and the way she speaks and her body language is giving infantilization to be frank. I can’t stand it. I haven’t even seen her episodes for a while to explain why I don’t exactly care for her but I can still hear her nasally voice echoing in my head.
And Morgan. I have a soft spot in my heart for her (along with Justin and Lauren but not her annoying ass “dad”). But I need to get off my chest how A PERSON WITH A FUCKING DOCTORATES DEGREE CAN BE SO DENSE. The two (2) posts recently on Instagram about how she didn’t know pterodactyl had a “p” in it??? Do they just give degrees to anybody nowadays? And on that subject, the way she can’t seem to spell/say/remember things the right way just pisses me off. I truly dont judge her so harshly for it, but for someone who is such a know-it-all she doesn’t know all that much. If I was publicly publishing something for the world to see forever, I would probably make sure I was pronouncing things correctly, but that’s just the perfectionist in me.
Okay that’s all, I came here to complain about Michaela but after reading other posts, I felt compelled to get my Morgan snark off my chest too.

How have both Morgan and Miles both completely failed to say “that man is raping her and this is sexual assault”? I actually rewound to the part of the story where the OP writes “He doesn’t stop when I tell him I don’t like something”. Oh so you’re removing consent for that sexual act, he’s heard that and chosen to continue to do it both in the moment and/or during future sexual encounters? That’s rape. That’s sexual assault. And that’s what needed to be said as soon as the story had finished. Hell, it should have even been shouted out by either one of them as soon as that quote by OP was read out.
Even when reading out the comments for that story, I really struggle to believe a top comment wouldn’t have been focused on or at least mentioned that part.
The rebuttal may be that Morgan and Miles tried their best to say it gently or discuss it from a perspective of “giving OP’s partner the benefit of the doubt”. But I don’t see why you would ever need the “other side of the story” when it’s so clear she’s being assaulted and doesn’t even realise it herself.
If you want to keep your show light and funny, that’s absolutely fine, do that!! The sacrifice there, then, is that you don’t talk about incredibly sensitive and serious topics. Because the only way to address the serious harm that people do to others is by calling it exactly what it is. No censoring, no dancing around saying things directly. No time spent thinking of excuses as to why this might be happening, as if there is any kind of acceptable excuse for this behaviour.
I have never been this mad before while listening to this podcast. Recently, I’ve actually been wondering if my feelings towards Morgan as a host are valid (or is it unconscious misogyny? I’ll save that one for another day), so this failure has really disappointed me.
I’ve seen her do this before but my recent example is how in the Joshua Taylor Basset video she claims “billionaires and trillionaires, what do you need it for?” (Which I agree w that stance and even include millionaires) but the absurd part is that she literally has an AMAZON PRIME AD in her video!!!!! Really rubs me the wrong way and tells me she’s surface level asf.

I'm trying to sleep. The podcast used to make me sleep but lately there's been so much screaming. Can't even use it as my sleep pod anymore😩 I only ever listen to a ⅓ of the first story because I fall asleep. I need something that's long (30+ min), interesting enough to distract my thoughts, the storkes are sometimes interesting, but boring enough to fall asleep to, not keep me up. It worked really well for a while but the screaming makes me wake up so now I need recommendations for other podcasts to fall asleep to (please🙏 I'm a desperate insomniac)
