Hello everyone!

I am completely new to reddit, so bear with me here. However, I am far from new to Tycho. I am well aware of this subreddit's self-promotion rules, as I have been following along the page for a while without an account, but I'd like to quickly say a bit about myself. My name is Miles, I am 18, and I work independently as artist name "Gavia." I have been creating music for four years now in southeast Wisconsin heavily, heavily inspired by Tycho, however, I have recently invested forth thousands of dollars into a Les Paul, Yamaha, a Martin, etc. - I am going all in. I am currently in my first year of college, but I am well aware that my music is ready to stretch beyond a schooling horizon - I have had terrible luck finding my listeners in our age of technology and legacy listeners. I am currently in the works of some incredible things that are super-inspired by Tycho, who I have been listening to my entire life - who has been in the background of my earliest childhood moments and holds an incredibly special place in my upbringing. I do have previous releases you can check out if you wish, but they'll really only be a taste of what my future releases have to offer. And with that, November 13th is the release date of my single "Ascent," which I have supplied a video of me playing. I got inspiration for this song after ascending Mt. Elbert in Colorado - and I felt the acoustic-synth pairing perfectly represented the feeling of the landscape. I have got a lot more on the way, however, and being pressured by school and trying to figure out life, I am putting a huge amount of effort in my new music to truly show my capabilities. If you care to follow along, I am on any social platform and any streaming service, and the pre-save for this piece just came out! I can't put in a link for that, but it's in the bios of my Instagram and TikTok. Again, I understand the rules of this sub-reddit, and I will continue being active as I can - I have really been enjoying watching awesome show clips!

FORM Arcosanti Festival

I am so stoked right now, and kind of stunned.

Until yesterday I thought I wasn't going to get to go with tickets costing $1000+. Then I happened to look, and it turns out there are a lot of people selling a lot lower. I scored one that was decent priced. Still kind of ouch at $275, but when I saw there were TWO Tycho sets... Ok, ok, we're getting our money's worth. Since it is practically in my backyard ( in AZ 30-40 min is close! Like that's the closest Tycho has ever been to me, so you can see why I was a bummed out earlier at not getting to go) I can just go home and then come back next day, no need to spend on lodging. -> I don't want to car camp.

Then I found out there are actually THREE Tycho DJ sets, ommmggggg whuuuuttt?! Good thing he loves his job, they puttin' him to WORK. :) I might not be able to get into the last one because it's a Pool Party and I heard the pool can have a really long line/wait. The Envelope set ends only an hour before the pool set starts. In that case I hope I can lurk awkwardly by the entrance and hear the set ( Update: a person who had gone before says I'll be able to hear the music, but it'll be hot. Will bring umbrella). I don't intend to get in the pool, I lobster really easily. Also, I can't swim.

I'm really looking forward to the Envelope experience. I attended the online one a few years back and it was pretty cool. I reeeeaalllyyy hope Scott plays the Forge Dub from the Burning Man set, because I want to crawl inside that song. I know it sounds weird, but I don't know how else to describe the feeling. It's probably the most immersive Big Wall of Sound Tycho song I've heard, like so much Big Wall of Sound all the time, no stinginess. I literally cried when I first heard it.

So yeah, now I need to figure out where I put my clear festival bag that I just tidied away. I'm so happy because I've wanted to catch a DJ set for some time.

Interestingly, the person who sold their early bird ticket to me was selling because their friend backed out last minute. Their friend had been going to see Tycho.

Celebrating 10 years of Epoch : Fun Facts and Fanart

Hey all. Yesterday, Epoch officially turned 10. Here are some fun Epoch facts:
-Glider: Homage to a vintage sci-fi movie included in the music video
-Horizon: Though not released as a single before the album, artwork was made for it as a single release featuring a blue circle against a black background over a grey trapezoid with a red line on the... (you guessed it), Horizon!
-Slack: Said by Scott to be the most technically challenging song they wrote for that album. The Q&A he said this on was on reddit I believe, perhaps for the 10 year anniversary re-issue of the vinyl earlier this year. (Also IMO the album's underdog)
-Receiver: Debuted first at the Wonder Ballroom in Portland, OR back in May of 2026, along Division and an early demo of Epoch. Second Tycho song ever made to have the word "Receive" in it.
-Epoch: Debuted at the Wonder Ballroom as well, the first version played featured more dance - oriented sections in it, lacking the long, droning arpeggiated synth bass that is otherwise featured halfway through the studio version. (Also, not a fact, but listen to Sensual Seduction by Snoop Dogg and TRY telling me there isn't some similarity there!)
-Division: The last of the songs debuted in Portland. Originally called "Atoms" as a reference to the band *Atoms of Peace* who commonly used the 7/8 time signature in their music.
-Source: Clips of this song first surfaced on their facebook page the summer prior to the album's surprise release. Zac was shown strumming a longer version of the riff heard at 2:13.
-Local: Said in one, if not more Q&A's to be one of Scott's favorite songs of Tycho of all time. First time it was played live was in Japan.
-Rings: The nebulous title was once explained by Scott indirectly through another Q&A, where he mentioned the names of songs come about somewhat randomly. Certain phrases come to mind and stick for a while until they are used as song titles. Also the 3rd song on the album to use the same 7/8 time signature and drum patterns.
-Continuum: One of Scott's other favorite songs of all time. Made by accident when trying to make the wavelength on what I believe was the Korg Minilogue a certain shape. The shortest Tycho song released in almost ten years prior to it.
-Field: First played on a Facebook livestream to celebrate the end of the album's production process. Count was present with Scott, sharing a wine bottle in front of a candle in the studio. This is also known as one of Tycho's 'Sad Cowboy Song(s)'. Yeehaw.

This was their first of two albums to be Grammy nominated, and the *second* longest live-band, studio release to date.

Personally, the anticipation and release of this record as well as it *itself* played a pivotal role in my adolescense. Very few of my close friends would be unable to recall me talking about or playing this record, whistling it, etc. Though I honestly have always hoped that there would be less, what I might call, *negative space..?* in the music in this record, I feel the minimalist approach pairs perfectly with the artwork, and the otherwise melancholy tones serve as a cornerstone in Tycho's overall sonic 'bridge', *if you will*. 🎴
