Tyla’s rendition of Tink’s ‘Treat Me Like Somebody’
An R&B classic! 🎧
An R&B classic! 🎧
For those that don’t know, Tyla is set to perform at the opening ceremony for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
I'm just gonna say it, I didn't like water at all when it first came out. The lyrics were repetitive, the beat sounded like a fork scratching on a plate, it was overall not a really pleasant song to listen to imo
Moving on the chanel, i liked it. It wasn't anything revolutionary, but it was a good bop to jam to on winter break
Ik she has more songs obviously, but these are just the two must popular ones
Oh and I'm a new fan so any more recs?
I almost feel like I’m crazy. As someone who saw everything unfold in real time, I just can’t help but feel bad for them both. From the second that interview hit the internet, people were clowning Tyla for just standing there and people were antagonizing Rihanna. They were saying she was mad at Tyla for flirting with ASAP. Droves of people were asking Tyla why she just stood there awkwardly and parroted that Rihanna must not like her. I can understand why Tyla made her video (to clear the narrative) and also recognize that the safer outcome may have been silence. But I feel anyone that actually follows her should know she meant well but there’s been so much projection of malice where it’s not there into her words, and the blogs misconstruing it was the nail in the coffin. I’ve never seen so much misinformation, xenophobia and racism (especially towards her South Asian heritage??? What’s with that). And obviously her fans, even if it’s in defense of her, have also taken it too far by coming for Rihanna’s body. It’s just an all around unfortunate situation that highlights how toxic media culture is nowadays and how it’s the fans that make the drama.
So I'm sure y'all are aware of the story already. Rihanna is a huge superstar and with that comes a lot of scrutiny and lots of hate. I have also been following Tyla since Water went viral, I also love her and I love her even more when she said that she was a Rihanna fan, that she inspired her and that she literally wanted to be Rihanna. And she also a lot of other influences like Aaliyah is my fav, MJ, she hasn't mentioned SZA & Ariana Grande but the song Butterfly & On and On, is really reminiscent of these 2 ladies. Anyway, we love similar taste in music so it was logical to follow her, I've defended her tho all the unnecessary hate and all but now this one, I don't know.
Like I said above, Rihanna is a huge superstar, and with that a lot of scrutiny, and especially I want to say when you're a Black woman in a position like Rihanna. Rihanna was already dealing with the another rumor of Asap Rocky cheating, with these stans, a Black man is always cheating, and especially when they are near a Non Black woman.
Imo, Tyla, didn't have to respond and add her commentary on why she's in the picture and not talking about Rihanna. I guess because she was Navy, so she said that Rihanna is not a mean girl, but she was just busy. But Rihanna doesn't need tyla's protection.
Now people are saying that Tyla is on a cardi B-Nicki Minaj lane. Anyway, so naturally fans are fighting I don't know why. I'm also seeing a lot of people saying that Rihanna is jealous, jealous of what??? I'm seeing people trying to bash Rihanna in the name of Tyla but I keep noticing that the people doing so were actually fans of other act like Beyoncé, Ariana Grande etc.
So i wanted to know if the fan feel similar to the people on Twitter. I wished Tyla kept it for herself and let the convo continue with her involvement
In 2017-2020 .. media and BLACK AMERICAN media like the breakfast club said that NICKI MINAJ was scared of competition and jealous of the new girls because she didn’t "EMBRACE" them, and many supporter other talentless artist out of spite, only to turn out that RIHANNA also don’t embrace the girls like that especially with tyla.. but is justifying Rihannas action but yet degraded Nicki Minaj for the same action. Why do people set a standard high for nicki but give passes to women like Rihanna and cardi b ?
