Is it just me, or is this weekend moving in slow motion? 😂 Hopefully we all have some luck this week and those disbursements finally start hitting since classes are ending for most of us!
So I start classes for a masters in the fall. In all the things I have read, textbooks are primarily digital.
What does everyone use to read them? Tablet? PDF reader like Scribe? I really don't want to do all my reading on my laptop or computer.
I'm nearly done with my bachelor's in communication, and I'm debating on getting a second bachelor's in marketing, or just going for my Master's. Graduate students, do you think getting your Master's was the right decision? Those with two UMGC bachelor's, what is your opinion? Thank you.
I will be finishing my last class in about 2 days, But my degree wonty be conferred untill the send of the semester in august.
Will i be able to start my graduate classes during august or will i have to wait a whole semester longer?

Hello, I am in a Basic Photography class and struggling. I feel like I am guessing on what the professor wants us to actually do. I get docked points for only adding the required photos, then docked for adding too many photos. The rubric is vague in what sets Exceeds/meets/approaches/does not criteria. I am normally a straight A student. I am barely getting a C.
2 weeks AFTER class began, he posted a "How to get better grades post" but that information is NOT in the rubric or assignments instructions, or syllabus.
The class average for most assignments is around 50%. This is a basic photography class though.
Oh and photography is a hobby of mine. I wont say I'm GOOD- but I am not turning in unfocused shots of trash or something. I emailed my military education coordinator but I feel really demotivated, and nervous. Will I have to pay back my TA?
Does anyone know if we'll be dealing with delayed disbursements for the upcoming Fall semester in August as well? Will this be the new norm?

When I first started at UMGC, I had a lot of questions and not many answers. I know how frustrating that can be when you are trying to figure out what to expect and how to plan your journey.
I am in my last four weeks of the HR Capstone and my final week of BMGT Capstone, so I wanted to offer help where I can. If anyone has questions about classes or professors, feel free to reach out. I can share my honest version of the good, the bad, and the ugly for the classes I have taken.

Hello I'm transfering to UMGC. I should have enough credits where I may only need my final 12 or 14 classes. Assuming they take call my Sophia and community college credits. I got my Business Administration degree from AACC.
I only work on the weekends bartending which gives me an incredible amount of time to dedicate to school during the week. How many classes should I attempt to take?
I'm a transfer and a Psychology major.
I don't like how the AAR looks. It needs to be more compact.
Is there a recommended way of the order you should do your classes as a psych major at UMGC? Like a template or something?
I prefer the design that my old community college used to keep track of classes and progress way more!
Am I better of making a table of my progress in Google Sheets?
UPDATE: I did manage to call someone late last night. It came out they were having confusion because they had an application with me under a different name and a different overseas address. I could not recall ever having applied to UGMC so they forwarded me to three different IT‘s.
WE FOUND THE REASON… they still had me listed under my married name from when I applied to attend when I was in the army in Germany… OVER TWENTY YEARS AGO!!!! This was back in 2002 (we divorced in 2005) and didn’t remember it being through UGMC and ended up not taking any classes nor paying the fee. Why the heck do they still have an application from over 20 years ago???
Anyway, they’re requesting I send proof of name change and they can also change the username on my account if I wish so that is what I am doing. Off to a rocky start but still hopeful.

I applied over a week ago and received the initial “what to expect next” email but never received my login info to pay the application fee.
I contacted the school via their chat just now and was bounced around between 3 people because they claimed I failed the verification because my address was wrong… it is/was not wrong. It’s the same address I’ve used for the past 2yrs. They wanted to know my CMR… I don’t know what that is and had to look it up and learned it’s another word for my military FPO box number… which is connected to the address I applied with.
So now I’m waiting to get another email to “correct” the wrong address… but the address isn’t wrong… I feel like I’m stuck in limbo with this place.
For those getting status changes and disbursements, did you apply before 4/26? I did mine right after the freeze on 4/28 😢 has anyone received a change in status or disbursements update that filed after 4/26?
I keep calling but no real information or updates. I will call again in the morning and hopefully i will get some good news. This is my 1st semester with UMGC and the 1st time getting financial aid under this bs bill... Never had financial aid delayed like this before. Praying for this aid to be dispersed in the next week or two...some of us depend on those funds to help balance work, school, adult responsibilities.
I am taking 4 courses online this summer as I am trying to finish my degree in spring 2027.
Due to financial aid not being able to he processed, I have been on a payment plan to be able to take these courses. I spent a $550 down-payment in May, the last of my savings. $1500 was due on June 15th, and I was unable to pay for that, mostly due to my vehicle breaking down which ate up that possible payment.
I called in to see my options, and was told that if I do not make the full $1500 payment, I would potentially be dropped from my last two courses! We are almost halfway through and the drop/add refund period is over.
They said there is a chance I wouldn't be dropped? Additionally my balance would be sent to collections and I would be unable to sign up for more courses until that is paid off.
Meanwhile financial aid is supposed to cover everything as I made virtually no money in my last 3 years of school.
There isn't an option to put everything on hold, or make are partial payment. Why is UMGC being this inflexible, given the massive hiccup of financial aid being delayed months? How can I possibly make this work when I am taking 12 credits -- not being able to find enough side hustle work to make that kind of money?
Anyone else the GI bill, but also get pell grant?
Usually pell disburses before the school gets paid from the VA, and then I get a refund of the pell. Since the VA has paid the school already, will I still get the pell refunded to me or will they not use it since the VA paid everything already?
Glad they’re finally releasing funds! I’m still over here checking an unhealthy amount of times because I’m stuck on “Not Ready” and undergrad 😭
I can’t remember from last semester, but does the dispursement page usually go from not ready to ready and then to dispursed? Or does it go from not ready to dispursed? I’m hoping it’s the second option so I can have hope that I’ll get my aid tomorrow lol
I tried calling student first today and it says their closed . Is this an error ? I also can’t transfer to other departments .
Anyone ever failed a class? How was your experience and this is my first time ever failing a class at UMGC? How will this affect my aid?
I am awaiting my veterans certification for the summer semester (June 10th-August 4th) and I am kind of nervous because it’s the 28th of June as of this post and I’m hoping that I get paid on time. I already did spring classes before and am waiting for my enrollment verification again for this month still. If the new certification is late will I still get paid for the month or am I (for lack of a better term) cooked and will have to wait for next month? Or maybe even just get it later for July?
Looking for some new classes to take! Majoring in Communication. Have already transferred over Into to Nutrition :)
