I just finished out my first year of computer engineering and honestly it was a train wreck. I finished out with a 2.4 GPA and grades that I’ve never seen in my entire life. I’ve been a straight A student all my life up until now and I just don’t know how to wrap my head around this. This is really taking a toll on me mentally. I’m in danger of losing all my scholarships I worked so hard to get and I feel so awful. Please tell me it gets better.

Was today the big movement day for waitlists? I haven’t received anything and just wanted to ask to confirm. I applied for Neuroscience and apparently Miami doesn’t consider second choice majors so I kind of shot myself in the foot by being unaware. This is likely the highest chance to get in today correct? If someone could please let me know if they got in today or if they know if today was the big wave that would be much appreciated thank you!

I'm currently a freshman in cc and got into the U for Biology and I wanted to know what it's like being a Bio major or premed at UM. I have volunteer hours and I'm planning on doing some shadowing over the summer rn but I would definitely want to do research and clinical experience once I'm finally transferred. I know UM's great for research so I wanted to know if any premeds have had experience with this or what recommendations they have in general!

Hi, I have been admitted to UM but have not yet accepted my offer. I know Miami is known for its Spanish-speaking population. Is there a significant part of the student body that uses Spanish for social interactions? Is there a divide between the English-speaking population and the Spanish-speaking one?

I just got in off the waitlist, and I committed. However, my final semester grades are not the best—I have a mix of B+s a B-, an A+ (in an elective) and a D+… (My GPA when applying was a 3.829 UW)

I do have circumstances that contributed to this situation at home, but I’m not sure if I should bring attention to them now proactively, or wait bc I’m not even sure if it warrants a problem.

I am also on basically a full ride from grants and FA, with a 12k a year merit scholarship.

Please let me know what I should do!!!

hello guys I applied to UM as a transfer student and i sent in all my stuff by late February and I still haven’t heard back from them. I wanna email the school but don’t wanna seem needy or demanding if I ask why I haven’t received anything from them. Not sure what I would say either🫩🫩

No, my family didnt pay a 1 million Initiation fee for Shell bay ):

my folks are coming down to visit for the end of the semester and my dad is already complaining about miami traffic in our group chat. last time they visited I took them over to south beach and it was an absolute disaster. Way too loud, my mom hated the club music playing at 6pm, and the prices baiscally gave my dad a panic attack

Im trying to keep them strictly around the gables or coconut grove this time so we don't have to deal with I-95 at all. I booked a table at Bayshore club for friday afternoon cause we can catch their happy hour and honestly looking at the sailboats usually keeps my dad quiet for a little bit. But I still need like three more solid places to feed them over the weekend.

it needs to be quiet enough that they don't have to yell across the table (so definetly nowhere near sandbar or anywhere directly by campus) and ideally not a place that charges 45 bucks for a basic salad..

where do u guys usually drag your families when they come to the U? my social battery is already draining just thinking about navigating this weekend.

i tried logging in to my housing portal and it says i signed in successfully but don’t have access to this resource. it’s the same for any other UM-related page (like when i go to sign up for the q&a). anyone else experiencing this issue? i remember them saying that on the 10th at 5pm they’d be doing maintenance. could that be it?

helppp i rly want to get off i already sent a loci to the admissions email and changed my financial interest to no. however i haven’t even heard back from my regional counselor. should i call the office and ask questions ab it?? i saw ppl saying they called and got off but i also don’t want that to be a red flag. anyone who has info or who has gotten off this year or in previous years pls lmk
