Umiami honest thoughts

Would you say Umiami prepares you well for getting into medical school or the pre health field. Do you think it was worth the money along with the college experience?

Reasons to go to University of Miami for Florida residents?

Why would you go there if bright futures will pay for a public university? are there any benefits to going to a private university?

* **Personal Narrative:** College essay focuses on overcoming a fractured foundation following a fatal medical malpractice incident in Pakistan, moving to the US, and using that personal history as the driving mission behind pursuing a career in medicine. this is my essay intro for example College Essay
Living in a house built with structural compromises is deceptive, it may look flawless on the outside, but eventually it catches up to the foundation’s integrity.
One structural compromise was when a medical malpractice in Pakistan led to the passing of my father. As I grew up I learned how working in the medical field doesn’t just matter about the hours or the pay but about how your one action can save or break a family’s future. Like that single preventable error dismantled my structural baseline as a kid, forcing my immigration to the US. I lived with the hole that so many tried to fill, then watching my mother navigate not only a new landscape but also trying to shield me from the fracture of my loss. Growing up I didn’t have any personal memories of the tragedy but no one failed to remind me how I always looked away at the sight of a father buying his daughter cotton candy.
* **Demonstrated Interest:** Applying via the binding Early Decision 1 (ED1) timeline. Visited campus in July, emailed regional officer regarding pre med. voices after undergrad such as grad school and or med school and maintains active engagement across university social media channels.
hopefully end of senior year grades [Fall (Mid-Year): Medical Assisting (A), AP Calculus AB (A), DE American Government (A), AP Chemistry (A), ACT Prep (A), Economics Honors (A), DE Sociology (A), Leadership/Aide (No credit). \rightarrow 4.5 high-rigor credits calculated for Semester 1.
Spring (End-of-Year): AP Calculus AB (A), AP Chemistry (A), DE English Comp II (A). \rightarrow Remaining full-year and spring semester credits completed.]

Do I have a good shot for spring 2027 admission?

For some context I got waitlisted from these schools: UF, SCU, CWRU, and GETTYSBURG.

I want to apply to umiami for spring 2027 and I wanted to if I have good shot to see if its worth it to take a gap semester.

My HS stats are 3.3 gpa, 1340 sat, my senior gpa was 3.8 and I had a rigorous course load considering my HS ( Ap physics 1, Ap Bio, AP calc BC/AB, and apes.

My EFC is 15k a year and I am pell grant recipient. My non-custodial lives in the US and his income is around 140k.

For my knowledge Umiami is not very generous for families with my non-custodial income.

Do I have a good chance to be admitted and to receive a generous aid package? Should I take the gap semester?

Scholarship opportunity for international students?

I am a student from Nepal who dreams of studying bachelor's in the United States. I recently came across many posts saying that UMiami is a great destination for international students. I have a strong academic record, with a 3.92/4.0 GPA and A+ (4.0) grades in Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, and Computer Science. However, in Nepal, extracurricular activities are not emphasized as much, so I don't have a strong extracurricular profile. I will be taking the SAT in August and am aiming to score above 1500. Given my academic background, do I have a realistic chance of receiving a full-tuition scholarship or a full-ride scholarship at UMiami?

THesis hotel

I just got assigned to thesis for the upcoming year. Never been there, don’t even know what the place looks like. I lived in Pearson last year so I’m sure how thesis works. Had a few questions:

- do u think the double queen room is big enough to fit all my stuff from storage?
- Do they have closets? Is there separate dedicated space between me and my roommate?
- Is there only 1 desk? 🤦🏾‍♀️
- Ik there isn’t exactly a dining hall, so do the restaurants at the hotel take meal swipes or would I have to blow all my money on food?
- is there a laundry room? Do they charge?
