Halloween fun and let’s show you off

UOW students / Wollongong creatives — want to do something weird for Halloween?

I’m organising THE HOLLOW, a new Halloween event taking over Crown Street on 31 October and 1 November 2026, and I’m looking for students and emerging creatives who want to get involved.

This could look like a chance to trade as a stall holder on exchange at this event or our regular Markets in Shellharbour called The Nest Markets.

Maybe you’re an artist wanting to showcase your work, a performer wanting a stage, testing a small business idea, part of a student group, or you have a weird Halloween idea you’ve never had the chance to try.

Think Thriller flash mobs, murder mysteries, performances, art, cosplay, workshops, games, interactive activities or something completely different.

You don’t need an established business or a huge following. If you have an idea and want to try it with an audience, I’d love to hear it.

Comment below or send me a message. What would you create for Halloween in Crown Street?

Anyone looking to make friends at UOW ?

Heyy, I’m a UOW student and honestly don’t really know many people here yet 😭😭
Looking to meet some new people, hang out, grab food/coffee or explore Wollongong.
If anyone’s in the same situation, hmu :)

What is the age range of students at UOW??

Hi everyone I’m (24f) planning on transferring to Uow but I was working and started college later and am returning now at age 24. I’m wondering will there be people in my age range as well or will it be weird for me to make friends and acquaintances. I also don’t mind of course making younger friends and I would like to be involved in campus things but I don’t know if it would be weird and I am nervous of this. Thank you!

Trying to figure out what young Australians actually want from a money app

I'm currently at Uni and trying to build a small app called Larna. It's just me at the moment. It connects to your bank through Australia's open banking system, sorts your spending automatically, and tries to tell you something useful about it. No manual entry, no spreadsheets.

Before I build any more of it I want to know what people actually need instead of being stuck with what I assume they need. I've. tried to put together a short survey its under 5 minutes, anonymous, no bank details, nothing to sign up for.

What I'm hoping to learn: what your bank's app already does well, where it falls short, and which features are worth building versus which ones sound good and would never get used. Honest answers help me far more than encouraging ones. If something on the list sounds pointless, say so.

These answers go straight into what gets built. It'll be free for uni students. Please let me know if you have any feedback for the survey as well.

Also happy to post a summary of the results back here once responses are in.

No proof of funds required for Student Visa?

Anyone here from a Level 3 country who recently got a visa grant without having to upload any financial documents (like bank statements)?

From the Immigration website's Document Checklist Tool, it doesn't list evidence of financial capacity as part of the requirements since UOW is considered a Level 1 university. I'm just wondering if anyone here successfully got their Student Visa application approved even without uploading any proof of funds? :)

Just asking for a second opinion to see if it aligns with my education agent's advice

Anyone else finding it hard to make friends at UOW?

Hey guys,
I’m a student at UOW and I’ve been trying to make friends on the main campus, but honestly, it’s been harder than I thought 😂.
I see people around campus all the time, but actually meeting people and turning that into proper friendships is a different story.
I’m just looking to meet some chill, genuine people who are down to hang out, grab food or coffee, study together, go out, play sports, or just have a good chat.
If you’re in the same boat or just looking to meet new people, feel free to comment or DM me.
Hopefully this reaches the right people 🤞🏾.

Is AI making me dumb?

Yo guys, I have been using AI now for a long time now, for typing my emails and proofreading my writings and cleaning out stuff, also a lot of programming now to a point where I’m actually having trouble writing emails or do ang basic stuff what I used to do back even in my high school before uni. Any feedback or suggestion will be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Is it possible to get a good ATAR even after bombing the internals?

My main question is: Is it possible to get a 90 Atar with a 60% internal?

Hi, so due to some personal and family issue i couldnt perform well in my year 12! nearly failed my trials! but my overall marks range 60% - 75% in all my subject. I do Maths adv, maths extension 1, Bio, chem, legal and English standard. My ranks are average ( within top 12 in all subj as I have a small cohort ). My school rank is mid. Its just a local public school. Did anyone face something like this yet managed to get a good atar (90+) with a high performance in HSC? Or am I being delusional?

I would really appreciate if someone can share their experience if they overcame their low internals in HSC.

i just wanna know if something like this is possible! Will it worth to work sleepless to perform the highest in hsc?
