Title: UPES vs Graphic Era Deemed University — is the extra 7–9 lakh really worth it?

I’m trying to decide between UPES and Graphic Era Deemed University, and I want a serious, honest opinion from people who actually know the situation.

The difference in total cost is around 7–9 lakh. I can manage it, but it is still a big amount, so I do not want to waste it if the value is not there.

What I have heard so far is mixed:

some students say UPES is losing placement strength

some say Graphic Era has improved a lot in placements and opportunities

a few people also told me that some companies avoid or blacklist UPES. I do not know how true that is, so I want clarity from actual students/alumni

I also want to know whether the brand value, peer group, internships, coding culture, and overall exposure are actually better at one of these colleges

I am not asking for random hype. I want the real picture:

which college is better for placement

which has better companies visiting

which gives better ROI

which one is safer if I am focusing mainly on career outcome, not just campus name

If you are from either college, or know the placement scene properly, please answer honestly. I would rather hear the ugly truth than fake marketing.

Thanks.

Quick note: This version sounds more serious and gets better replies because it asks for exact decision factors and avoids sounding like a fanboy post.

Some hostel + daily expense doubts.

Hey everyone,
I’m joining UPES Kindoli campus this year for BBA and will probably take the official hostel (double sharing attached washroom, non-AC).

Just had a few quick doubts:

  • Are kettles and induction allowed in hostels?
  • How strict are hostel checks?
  • Also, realistically, how much monthly pocket money is enough for a decent student lifestyle including occasional cafes, outings, ordering food, and misc expenses — without overspending unnecessarily? 😭

Would appreciate honest answers from current students/seniors.

I am taking in admission in UPES for btech CS and economics. This is a new course but it intrigues me so I took it. In case I wanna transfer my course, can I? Also does anyone have any idea about this course?

Few genuine doubts about the overall college life there.

Hey everyone,
I’m joining UPES this year for BBA at Kindoli campus and had a few genuine doubts about the overall college life there.

Would love honest opinions from seniors/students about:

  • How’s the overall crowd in BBA?
  • Is the environment fun/social or more boring/isolated?
  • How are the fests and events at UPES? Are they actually enjoyable or just average?
  • What’s student life like after classes?
  • How are the cafes and food options inside/around campus?
  • I’m planning to take the official hostel (double sharing attached washroom, non-AC room). Is it worth it?
  • How strict are hostels regarding entry timings, outings, visitors, etc.?
  • How’s the hostel food honestly? Manageable or terrible?
  • Also, if anyone has lived in that room type specifically, how was the experience?

Would appreciate real answers instead of brochure-type promotion 😭

what kind of wardrobe

Hey guys,
I’m joining UPES Kindoli campus this year for BBA and I’m confused about what kind of wardrobe I should actually build for Dehradun weather.

I’ll probably join around July/August, and I don’t want to spend too much on summer clothes and then regret it after 2 months if winters start early 😭

Can seniors guide me on things like:

  • From Aug–Dec, do you mostly wear summer clothes or winter clothes?
  • Around when does the weather actually start getting cold?
  • Should I focus more on tees/polos or hoodies/overshirts?
  • How many winter clothes are realistically needed for hostel life? Also if possible, can someone suggest a practical beginner wardrobe structure for a fresher? Something like:
  • how many tees
  • hoodies
  • jeans/cargos
  • shorts
  • shoes etc.

Trying to build a smart wardrobe instead of randomly overbuying clothes 😭
