Form I-130 | F2A (India) | PD: Nov 2024 (20.5 Months Pending) – Worth reaching out to Congressman?

Hi everyone,

I filed a Form I-130 for my spouse under the F2A category (Spouse/Child of LPR) country - India.

Priority Date: November 2024

Time Pending: ~20.5 months (628 days)
Given the current processing times and backlog, I’m trying to decide if it’s time to reach out to my local Congressman/Senator for an inquiry.
Has anyone in a similar timeline or category had success with a congressional inquiry at this stage? Or will they likely just send back a template response stating it's still within standard processing times?
Would appreciate any insights or recent experiences!

F2A timeline question — is 30+ months for I-130 basically the norm now?

Hey all, trying to get a realistic picture of the timeline here. My situation: I'm a green card holder trying to bring my wife over (F2A category).

From what I've been reading, I-130 processing for F2A is running really slow — like 30+ months in some cases? Wanted to check with people who've actually been through this:

  • Is 30 months roughly accurate for I-130 processing time right now, or does it vary a lot case by case?
  • After I-130 approval, does the wait change much between consular processing vs AOS (assuming she's already in the US, she has a B1 visa though)?
  • Total timeline start to finish — realistically, what did it look like for you?

Basically trying to figure out if there's any way to shorten this or if it's just a long haul no matter what. Any recent experience (2025/2026 filers especially) would help a lot. Thanks!

Interview Held for i-485; More than 120 days; PD is current

Hi all,

I have an ongoing i-485 (F2A) since August 2023 and last month got a notification stating that an action was taken on my case. The case was still currently under USCIS' review though API update switched from FT0 to FT1. I am not exactly sure what does it actually mean though many posts on reddit claim that, probably, a supervisor may have received the file. Upon contacting USCIS after more than 120 days of my I-485 interview in San Jose FO, the officer on the call stated the case was under normal processing time and no action was needed. Officer didn't elaborate regarding the notification received, calling it confidential. Officer stated the normal processing time for 80% of the cases is 30.5 months so technically, the case's deadline is Feb 2027 if PD is August 2023.

Does anybody saw those notifications and attempted to contact USCIS for more information? What are the questions did you ask? Please state your FO's processing time. Does anybody received decision within 120 days after the i-485 interview? I have always maintained legal status and clean history. Some of the people I know, got their cases approved an year or couple of years ago. I know every case is different, why does officers delay the cases decisions?

I have I-130 approved since July 2024 and later on a medical RFE in Feb 2026. The interview in April 2026 for I-485 was 1-on-1 with officer and my spouse had to wait outside and no interview.
I feel kind of lost at this point as what could possibly be provided to USCIS to make a decision. Is writ of mandamus recommended at this point or shall i wait till Feb 2027? Any lead will be greatly appreciated.

Thank you so much, fam!

Interview Scheduled - Seattle FO

Sharing my timeline as Seattle has very limited data points…

130 Pd: 2025/01
485/131/765 concurrent Filed: 2025/05
EAD approved: 2026/02
AP approved: 2026/04
Interview scheduled: today

Anyone has data points about how long the interview will be? And how soon it will be approved after the interview? And if anniversary is approaching 2 yrs, with only a few weeks away and with pregnancy showing onsite, will the approval still grant only 2 years validity?

Thanks a lot this community!!

F2A AOS — Anyone with NYC FO received interview?

Hi everyone! I’m hoping to find some other F2A applicants whose local field office is New York and compare timelines.

Here’s mine:

  • Category: F2A — spouse of a Green Card holder
  • PD: Oct 2025
  • I-485 filed: Nov 2025
  • Field Office: Manhattan, New York
  • I-485 silent updates: 08/01, 08/13, 8/18
  • No new event codes
  • I-765: Not approved yet
  • I-131: Not approved yet
  • Interview: Not scheduled yet

Would anyone with the New York field office get any updates especially interview scheduled?

I’m mainly trying to get a sense of the current backlog and how quickly Manhattan is moving. I’ve been seeing quite a few West Coast cases moving very quickly lately, while NYC seems much quieter.

With the possibility of F2A retrogression, I’m getting a little worried about whether there’s enough time for the case to reach the interview/adjudication stage before the dates move backward again.

Any recent data points would be really appreciated. Thank you!

Interview Scheduled - PD: September 2025

Sharing to keep this community updated about current processing timelines.

Today, I received an Interview Scheduled notice for both my I-130 and I-485 applications. Last week, I sensed that an interview notice might be on its way based on the account API activity between 1 August 2026 and 14 August 2026, and the API patterns observed across other Reddit posts.

API Pattern To Watch For:

1 August 2026: Silent API update for I-485; timestamp indicates this was a system update for Priority Date becoming Current.

12 August 2026: Silent API update for I-485 and I-130 (with the exact same timestamp); this simultaneous update is the key trigger to watch for

Timeline:

I-130 Filed: 11 September 2025

I-485, I-765, I-131 Filed: 23 October 2025

Biometrics Completed: 24 November 2025

I-765 Approved: 29 July 2026 (~9 Months processing time)

I-131 Approved: 3 August 2026 (~9.5 Months processing time; 1 Week after I-765 approval)

Interview Scheduled Notice Received: 17 August 2026 (~11 Months processing time; 2 Weeks after Priority Date became Current)

Processing time?

Anyone waiting to hear from the Chicago office? It’s been exactly 8 months since I submitted my docs, and when I check online average processing times is seen as 9.5 months. Any insight is appreciated.

I-485 Approved! 🎉 Card in Hand — F2A | Chicago FO | Full Timeline

After a long journey, I can finally close this chapter. I wanted to share my timeline since this subreddit helped me tremendously throughout the process.

My Timeline
Category: F2A — Spouse of LPR
Field Office: Chicago
Country: India
03/28/2024 — I-130 filed online
09/09/2024 — I-485 filed (My status - H1B at the time of filing)
08/05/2025 — I-765 + I-131 filed
08/06/2025 — Biometrics reused
05/2026 — EAD + AP approved
05/26/2026 — I-485 interview scheduled
06/12/2026 — I-485 interview at Chicago FO
Interview was about an hour.
Officer asked for additional bona fide marriage evidence.
I had the documents with me, showed them during the interview, and uploaded them to my USCIS account the same day.
Officer told me not to worry/relax and said to expect a decision in approximately 2–3 weeks.
07/06/2026 — I-485 backend update / FTA1
07/17/2026 — Another I-485 backend update / FTA1
08/06/2026 — Silent update on I-485
08/07/2026I-130 APPROVED
08/2026I-485 APPROVED!
08/17/2026Physical green card in hand! 🎉
No RFE. No NOID. No second interview.

A few things I noticed
I was checking the USCIS backend/API throughout the process, and there were several updates that never immediately appeared on the public case status page.
The most interesting part was seeing the I-485 silent update on August 6, followed by the I-130 approval on August 7, and then the I-485 approval shortly afterward.
Obviously, I can’t say that a silent update means an approval is coming, but in my case there was definitely movement behind the scenes before the final approvals.

Final thoughts
This process has been a long one, and there were definitely times when I wondered when it would finally be over. The interview itself went well, but waiting afterward was probably the hardest part.

Today, I finally have the card in my hand and can say:
I am officially a U.S. permanent resident. 🇺🇸
A huge thank you to everyone in this community who shared timelines, answered questions, explained USCIS updates, and gave hope to those still waiting. I spent countless hours reading posts here, and they genuinely helped me navigate the process.
For everyone still waiting — hang in there. Your approval is coming.🎉🇺🇸

F2A: Can I Interview at My Old Field Office After Moving?

Hi everyone,

I’m in the F2A category and recently moved from Kansas to Connecticut. My interview was scheduled at the Kansas field office after I had already updated my address with USCIS. The interview notice has my correct Connecticut address, but the interview is still scheduled in Kansas.

Has anyone been in a similar situation? After updating your address and moving to a different state, were you still able to attend your interview at the field office near your old address?

I’d especially appreciate hearing from anyone in F2A who has gone through this. Did USCIS allow you to keep the original interview, or did you have to transfer your case and reschedule? I am so stressed out.....

Thank you!
