Visa problem

I have been accepted to the Bachelor of Law at the UZH. But unfortunately my Visa has been declined because of the suspect that i wont leave Switzerland after i finish my studies. They want me to guarantee that i will leave the country and if i get a good enough proof i have a chance of getting the Visa.Does anyone have experience similar to this and has anyone actually proved they wont stay after it?

Also, are there any Students at the UZH law that would like to explain to me how the first week of Uni works, are there any workshops, pre-classes etc

Bsc Mathematik

Hallo.

Exams in UZH

Hello guys, I am enrolled in UZH for the MSc in Biology. I wanted to ask if any of u know if the exams are hard. Also I heard that the exams are exactly after the lectures without any time in between to study (that all exams are like in December or smth). Is it true?

First year of Bachelor

Heyy yall!

I’m starting my first year at UZH in Business and Economics and was wondering if you have any essential tips for surviving the first semester 😂

Anything you wish someone had told you before starting? Especially regarding courses, studying for exams, things to avoid, student life etc.

Any advice is appreciated!! 🫶🏻

ETH ---> UZH

Is UZH on leave these few weeks?

I was interviewing for a PhD position couple of weeks ago but I haven't heard back since. Just wondering what is an appropriate time to email.

HSG is my target, but how good is UZH as a Plan B for working in Switzerland?

Hi everyone,

I’m currently planning my Master’s and my main target would be HSG, particularly for Finance/Management. However, since admission is quite competitive, I’m also seriously considering the University of Zurich (UZH), especially the Master’s programs in Finance or Management.

I’d really appreciate some honest opinions from people who study/work in Switzerland, especially Zurich.

My main questions are:

- How well regarded is UZH by Swiss employers, particularly in finance, banking, consulting and corporate roles?

- If I don’t get into HSG and instead do a Master’s at UZH, would I still have a realistic chance of finding a good job in Switzerland after graduation?

- How does UZH compare with HSG specifically from a career/recruiting perspective? Is the difference actually significant once you are already studying in Zurich?

- How is the current Swiss job market for recent graduates, particularly international/EU students?

- How important is German? I’m Italian and currently around B2 in German, but I would aim to reach C1 by the beginning of the Master’s. Would C1 German + fluent English make my profile reasonably competitive for the Swiss job market?

- Are there realistic opportunities to do internships, working student/part-time jobs, or jobs within the university during the Master’s? I would ideally like to work alongside my studies to reduce the financial burden, especially considering the cost of living in Zurich.

- Does being physically in Zurich and having access to the local finance/business network make UZH particularly useful for finding internships and eventually a full-time position?

The Master’s would be a significant financial investment for me, so I’m trying to understand whether UZH is a good enough platform to justify moving to Switzerland even if HSG doesn’t work out.

I’d especially appreciate answers from current UZH/HSG students, recent graduates, or people working in Switzerland who have experience with recruiting from these universities.

Thanks!

math 3rd semester

I completed first year of math now as a major and I was wondering what courses to take in 3rd semester. They suggest Analysis III, Topology and Algebra. However last year two main courses like Ana II and LinAlg II were really hard to do, even though they are only 21 ETCS together.

Do people usually do all three main courses (total 27 ETCS)? And extra?

Or would you suggest just do random "Wahlmodule"? Is it common to take a seminar already?

Any insights would be helpful!
