I live in Texas, and years ago my then boyfriend, now husband, and I flew to Washington to meet his stepdad and his stepdad’s new wife for part of their vacation.
We camped near the Hoh Rain Forest and spent one of our days exploring it.
I had never seen anything like it.
Everything was impossibly green. Moss hung from branches, ferns covered the ground, and enormous trees disappeared into the canopy. Coming from Texas, it felt like I’d stepped into another world.
I was completely overwhelmed by how beautiful it was.
We stayed on the trail, taking pictures and messing around. There were tourists everywhere. Families talking. People stopping for photos. Cameras clicking.
It wasn’t an isolated or scary place.
At least, it shouldn’t have been.
After a while, I started feeling like I was being watched.
It was subtle at first. I’d catch movement just outside my line of sight. A shadow shifting between trees. Something moving and then stopping the second I turned my head.
Every time I looked, there was nothing there.
Then a bush about twenty yards away shook violently.
I immediately pointed.
My boyfriend looked, but by then it had stopped.
Nobody else reacted.
I told myself it was a bird or a squirrel. We were in a rainforest. Obviously there were animals.
We kept walking.
But the feeling stayed.
Something was watching me.
Later, a branch above us suddenly bounced upward like something heavy had just jumped from it.
I looked up.
For maybe half a second, I saw what looked like a huge talon gripping a branch.
Then it disappeared into the canopy.
I stared after it, trying to figure out what kind of bird I’d just seen.
Weird, but okay.
There had to be an explanation.
Then I felt someone breathe against the back of my neck.
I spun around.
Nobody was there.
My boyfriend and his family were ahead of me. The other tourists were too far away.
I hurried to catch up.
That’s when I started getting cold.
Not chilly.
Cold.
It felt like it was coming from inside my body.
Eventually, I fell a few steps behind everyone to check my phone.
And suddenly I couldn’t move.
I don’t mean I was scared and froze.
My body would not move.
I could hear people talking and laughing around me. My boyfriend and his family were walking ahead, completely engrossed in some story.
I tried to call for him.
Nothing came out.
Then something scratched the back of my neck beneath my ponytail.
Sharp.
Quick.
Like a fingernail.
I tried to run.
My legs wouldn’t move.
Then I felt one freezing finger touch the top of my spine.
Slowly, it dragged downward.
I was wearing a shirt and a jacket.
There was no possible way I should have been able to feel a fingernail against my skin.
But I did.
It moved all the way down my back and stopped at my waist.
Then two ice-cold hands grabbed my hips.
That’s when I started crying.
Because the hands moved.
They didn’t feel curious.
They didn’t feel accidental.
They moved over me slowly and deliberately, touching me in places and in a way that made their intention unmistakable.
One hand eventually moved up and closed around my throat.
Then something pressed against my back.
A body.
Except there was nobody there.
I couldn’t see anything.
But I could feel the shape of something behind me, freezing cold and solid, pressed tightly against me.
And then I felt something else through my clothes.
Something that made me understand exactly what kind of attention this was.
Exactly what this thing wanted from me.
That realization terrified me more than anything that had happened yet.
The freezing breath returned against my ear.
Then it made this low, awful sound.
Almost a groan.
“You’re so pretty.”
The voice was barely above a whisper.
It sounded vicious. Hungry.
“Come with me.”
The hand around my throat tightened while the other held my waist.
“I want to taste your soul.”
Then it started pulling me backward.
Toward the trees.
I fought.
Or tried to.
There was nothing to grab. Nothing to hit. Nothing I could even see.
Whatever was pressed against me didn’t respond like a person would when someone fought back. It didn’t lose its balance. Its breathing didn’t change. Its grip didn’t loosen.
It just kept pulling.
And all around me, people were laughing.
Taking pictures.
Walking down the trail.
My boyfriend was only a short distance away.
I remember thinking, I’m going to disappear into these woods in broad daylight, surrounded by people, and nobody is going to see it happen.
I tried to scream again.
This time something came out.
Barely.
A weak cough or wheeze.
But my boyfriend heard it.
He turned around.
I watched the smile disappear from his face the second he saw me.
He came straight back and put his hands on my face.
“What’s wrong?”
Everything vanished.
Instantly.
The hand around my throat disappeared.
The hands on my body were gone.
The thing pressed against my back was gone.
The breath in my ear stopped.
And suddenly I wasn’t cold anymore.
Then I heard birds.
I hadn’t even realized they’d stopped.
I stood there crying while my boyfriend kept asking what was wrong.
For a minute, I couldn’t speak.
And when I finally could, I realized what I would have to tell him.
That something invisible had put its hands on me.
That it had touched me in a way there was no misunderstanding.
That I could feel a body that wasn’t there pressed against mine.
That it whispered in my ear while trying to drag me off the trail.
I knew how insane it sounded.
So I told him I’d seen an owl.
It scared me.
He laughed and told me to stick closer to him.
I did.
I held onto his arm for the rest of the time we were there.
I’ve never been back.
That boyfriend eventually became my husband.
And to this day, he thinks an owl scared me so badly in the Hoh Rain Forest that I cried.
I’ve never told him what actually happened.
I don’t know what was in those woods.
I don’t know what I saw in that tree.
And I don’t know what would have happened if my husband hadn’t heard me.
But there is one thing I’ve never questioned.
By the time it whispered in my ear, I knew exactly what it wanted.
And whatever it was, it was trying to take me somewhere no one else could see.

Why is it that ghosts are often captured on camera, but we cannot see them with our own eyes? Furthermore, if they appear on camera, it implies that light is reflecting off them. If light is indeed reflecting off them, why don't they cast a shadow? Ultimately, if a camera lens can capture them, why can't the naked eye?"

From a terrifying encounter caught on a doorbell camera to creepy footage inside a possibly haunted apartment and disturbing images that supposedly show alien beings. These scary videos were never meant to exist. 👀

I (M33) live alone in a 1 bedroom in Bangalore, India. I moved here about 6 months ago. On 3 different occasions, 4 different friends have heard someone talk in the background:

1. The first time was a group call with 2 male friends. They went quiet for a few seconds being like what did you say. They heard people talking in the background. I was alone. This was post midnight. It happened 2 months ago.
2. About 10 days ago, I was talking to another friend who was unaware of the above incident, and she cut the call in the middle because she heard loud high pitched snickering. This was around midday and I was alone.
3. Last night my friend who knows of these incidents recorded the audio here. I was alone again and watching reels on my phone. I cut the call when my friend calls my name (for anonymity reasons), but this went on for 10-15 seconds more. And another 10-15 seconds before she started recording, as per my friend.

The weird thing is that I haven't experienced anything bizarre myself. It's been peaceful, I've gotten good sleep etc.

The only rational explanation I have is the possibility of cross connection. Or maybe my mic is picking up reel audios. But I don't recall watching any the first two times. My parents have heard this over traditional calls a few times and I attributed it to cross connection. What is happening? Any clue?

Back on Christmas Day of 1996 I was living in Gastonia nc about 30 miles south of Charlotte. We usually go to my grandma's house on Xmas Day in Durham NC. This year we did a day trip. On the way back about 3 or so we were riding down a paved country road,and I looked out to my right side of the car and I saw 2 suns that appeared to be a good distance from each other. I told my dad who was driving. My sister said oh great the antichrist is coming. Of course I blew it off as sarcasm. When ingot home there was nothing on the news about it that night or the next day. To my knowledge this is the only time this happened it that I saw it. Again as far as I know there was no explanation or reason given for this. of course I didn't have a camera so I didn't have any evidence other than my eyes. Can any explain how this could of been possible. Thanks .
