My answer is yes. While I'm not the target demographic, I'm open to the idea of more Kids Resorts since they're a much-needed shot in the arm to compete with Disney in the family-friendly theme park market; which they dominate in. I already have ideas for the lands & attractions that would go in these parks (to differentiate it from the Texas one), but I'm not sure on locations. I do have some candidates for where the next UKR could be built like Phoenix, Arizona, Denver, Colorado, Atlanta, Georgia & Columbus, Ohio.
As for the lands & attractions, here they are:
-Kung Fu Panda - It's the only IP featured the DreamWorks Land in Orlando that's missing in the new Frisco park; an obvious pick if you will. We also already know what a Kung Fu Panda land would look like since there's already one in Universal Beijing. Assuming they allow dark rides to be built, we could get an interactive dark ride where Po & the Furious 5 teach guests how to do kung-fu with these air sensors that detects people's hand motion. Other than that, I can also see the land having a restaurant like Mr. Ping's Noodle Shop in the movies.
-How to Train Your Dragon - We all know about the land in Epic Universe, so this one's obviously going to be different since it'd be built on a smaller budget. I can't really think of much since it's been a while since I've seen the movie, so all I can really come up with is a suspended family coaster that makes you feel like you're flying on a dragon. I included HTTYD despite its presence at Epic Universe since it's one of the more popular family-friendly franchises Universal owns the rights to with the live action remake having just come out last year & that being a big thing.
-The Wild Robot - I think this one makes sense, since the movie is fairly recent, it was critically acclaimed, and there's a sequel coming out sometime in the next few years. For the headlining attraction, it could be an omni-mover that either tells the story of the movie or a new story altogether. And I think a Wild Robot land would work due to the combination of nature & futurism. And it'd still have visual interest which would make up for the lack of depth. (since it's a kids' park after all)
-Animal Crossing - This isn't 100% likely since Nintendo is strict when it comes to licensing their IPs as they don't want their brand feeling cheap, but there's a chance they could approve of this since it's less popular than Mario (which is obviously off the table since they're clearly not going to clone Super Nintendo World & plop it here), Pokemon (which is better suited for the destination resorts due to the mass appeal it has) & Zelda (while that franchise is family-friendly, it has mature themes that make it an inappropriate choice for a park like this). That & Animal Crossing is a laid-back franchise that'd make the land simple theme-wise as all it really needs are a few flat rides, carnival games, restaurants & shops.
-Fast & Furious Spy Racers - Since the new Frisco park has Jurassic World Camp Cretaceous, I decided to include another kid-friendly animated Netflix series based on a 1 of Universal's flagship PG-13 movie franchise. I've never seen the Fast & Furious movies, but I do think that the headlining attraction would either be the roller coaster that Hollywood & Orlando are getting but with the thrills scaled back, or something akin to Test Track at Disney.
-Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles - Since Universal has an existing relationship with Nickelodeon (given the SpongeBob land in UKR Frisco), I think TMNT would be my vote for a third-party property land. As it sells a ton of merchandise & the franchise is always getting new media every few years. It'd be themed to the current iteration, that consists of the Mutant Mayhem movie (which is getting a sequel next year) & Tales of the TMNT Paramount+ series. Not sure what attractions would go here, but the theme would of course be New York since it's home to the turtles. Dining would be easy as well since they're associated with pizza.
Plan your “kidcation” now! Tickets, on-site hotel packages, and the park’s first annual pass option are now on sale. https://www.universalkidsresort.com/en/us
And now it's opening date is next month?
No real pictures, no updates along the way, no soft open for months like epic universe did - we saw pictures of construction and what was going on without it being an animation.
Does this park even really exist ?? 😆 or is this rollercoaster tycoon.
Looking for thoughts on whether folks think this theme park will be more of a Disneyland experience or more of a regional theme park experience. Is this going to be more like going to Six Flags (for kids) or is it a unique experience like Disney?
Trying to adjust my expectations on whether it’s actually worth a trip or better suited for people who are already in the area.
So I live in Texas and I'm hoping for a Texas discount of some kind. Right now the only pass is Silver. Should we expect Gold, Platinum, and Resident Passes as well like the other Universals? Also, website says Silver Passes are unavailable?
How does the 1.5 day admission work?? I don’t get two full days even if I book the package and it advertises “enjoy early park entry” ???
Do you just buy season pass with parking for 1 vehicle? Or you need to buy that for your whole family? Buy 1 $169 season with parking, and all the kids just buy $129?
