How hard is it to get into the University of Debrecen

I have been looking at colleges in Europe and I was told my people on a different university forum that Debrecen could be a good place to apply to in Hungary but I am worried about my qualifications as a student from teh US and how they would perceive my transcript and how hard the exam would be for the programs there. For context I am going into my senior year with a 4.0 unweighted gpa and even though I sadly procrastinated APs until this year I plan to take 4 which I can hopefully get past. But I was looking into Debrecen's English Psychology program and although there is an entrance test/interview I couldnt really find any reviews on how hard they are or acceptance rates as Debrecen doesnt post them so I would just wondering if anyone had any insight into that or had experience taking the exam and its difficulty and or how good of a transcript you had and were able to get in. (Sorry for the wording if there are really long sentences)

Campus Hotel Appointment Booking

Hello everyone!

So I got a place at the Campus Hotel for my dormitory. They said that we need to book an appointment for our check in and the appointment booking should open today, August 19 2026.

However, I am having trouble accessing the website. Can anyone let me know how to access it or is another way to book the appointment for my check in to the Campus Hotel dorm?

Thank you!

Monthly living expenses in Debrecen as a student

The University of Debrecen mentions that the average expenditure for a student is about 800 USD (250,000 HUF or 700 euros) total per month: https://edu.unideb.hu/p/cost-of-living

How much do you spend per month on average, excluding the rent? I excluded the rent because it can vary widely for everyone.

 1. < 60,000 per month
 2. 60,000 - 80,000 per month
 3. 80,000 - 100,000 per month
 4. 100,000 - 120,000 per month
 5. 120,000 - 140,000 per month
 6. > 140,000 per month

Please choose one of the above options and feel free to mention your rent as well.

From Budapest airport to Debrecen

Hi, I'm a first year student (SH holder) at Debrecen. Has anyone here experienced the shuttle bus service of the University. Is it worth it? Or any recommendations besides that?

University of Debrecen entrance exam advice

Hey everyone,I’m planning to apply to the University of Debrecen for Medicine for the 2027/28 intake, and I wanted to ask anyone who has taken the entrance exam what topics I should study and what you’d recommend I focus on. I’d also really appreciate hearing from anyone who got accepted recently, especially if you’d be willing to chat with me about the exam and your experience. Thanks in advance

hungarian language for students studying medicine

hello everyone! i'll be studying dentistry and since im in the medicine sphere its required for us to take hungarian classes (starting on the 25th since i'll be a first year this year) and i was wondering if anyone has actually learned the language near mastery? if so what resources did you use/how did you learn? im currently watching some youtube videos so im not completely lost in class but from the many grammar videos i've watched the only thing i know is to say my name and hello. and second of all, what is the purpose of teaching only med students hungarian and the students of other faculties? what happens if you're not able to learn it (asking out of curiosity)

Thank you in advance!

How important is the orientation?

Hi everyone! There's a chance I may not be on campus in time to attend the orientation and I was wondering if I would miss a lot of information.

For current students or alumni: Did you attend orientation, and did you find it genuinely useful? What would I miss by not attending ?

Thanks!

📱 What’s the best mobile data plan in Debrecen? Looking for 100GB+ without breaking the bank

Hey everyone!

I’ll be moving to Debrecen soon and I’m trying to figure out which mobile provider to go with. I’ll mainly be using mobile data on my phone, so calls/SMS aren't really important to me.

Ideally, I'm looking for:

 • 📶 100GB+ per month — unlimited would be even better
 • 💰 Around 5,000–7,000 HUF/month
 • 🚀 Good 4G/5G speeds
 • 🏙️ Reliable coverage around Debrecen, especially around the city centre/university area
 • ❌ Preferably no long-term contract
 • 📱 Either physical SIM or eSIM is fine

For anyone actually living in Debrecen:

Which provider are you using, what plan do you have, and how's the speed/coverage in real life?

Would you recommend Yettel, Telekom or One, or is there another provider/plan I should look into?

Also interested in hearing about any less obvious/cheaper plans I might have missed.

Thanks! 🙏
