WHAT DOES THIS EVEN MEAN?

So, I am a student and im gonna appear for cuet ug exam and as I was not able to find any official information regarding the cutoffs for courses at UoH, i decided to file an RTI application and this is what they sent to me in reply. What does this even mean? - "Selection is based upon 1:10 ratio"

Regarding UoH

I have two options in hand right now , with a score of 169 in life-science , I can either take animal biology course in UoH ( which isn’t good, after talking to some students who are already studying there) or to take a drop. I’m so confused as to what should be my decision. Any suggestions?

"I hope you will find your laptop, and also my body at the bottom of Buffalo Lake" UoH student dies by suicide

The incident took a different turn on Sunday, May 17, when four more laptops went missing- two from the reading room beside the library, and two more from the hostel.

When the victims confronted Mayukh accusing him of stealing their laptops and demanding him to return them, Mayukh informed them that though he had stolen the laptop of the intern, this time it was not he who stole the rest of the 4 laptops.

The issue escalated to the point where the activists of Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) got involved. According to some students, the ABVP activists made a huge scene, and at least one of the students who spoke on condition of anonymity, informed Siasat.com that Mayukh was beaten up by some ABVP activists on late Sunday night, after the chief warden had dispersed the crowd at around 2.30 am.

On Monday morning, May 18, when Mayukh was nowhere seen on the campus, his roommate informed his parents about it. A search of his room revealed a suicide letter, in which Mayukh wrote: “I hope you will find your laptop, and also my body at the bottom of Buffalo Lake.”

He apologised to his mother for breaking her trust and taking the easy way out, and urged her to be strong.

In the same letter, he also mentioned that his mother’s health condition was not fine, and submitted that though he couldn’t take care of her medical needs, he took loans for taking drugs.

Based on the suicide letter, his body was searched and found inside the Buffalo Lake on Tuesday morning, May 19.

The university authorities informed the Gachibowli Police about the incident. The police shifted the student’s body to Osmania General Hospital for a postmortem.

The students claim that the issue was being side-tracked by using his ‘drug abuse’ problem, instead of focusing on the humiliation he has been subjected to, the reason why he took the extreme step.

There is an all-party meeting which will be held at UoH campus on Tuesday night, where the students are expected to issue a joint statement on the issue.

MA Sociology @ University of Hyderabad

Hey folks!

I'm confused about choosing the Institute like should I go for DU, JNU, Or UOH. I'm local (Hyderabad) and I've heard that locals won't be getting hostels inside the campus. Is it true? And how true are the posts of hostel condition? Is it really that bad???

And the important question

How's Sociology in University of Hyderabad? Like is it worth it? What opportunities will I get in my career if I choose to do sociology from this university?

Mca in uoh

Hi everyone,

I'm considering university of Hyderabad for my MCA and wanted some honest feedback from current students or alumni.

  1. How are the placements for MCA? What kind of companies visit and what’s the average package?

  2. How are the professors and teaching quality, especially for MCA subjects?

  3. Overall, would you recommend it for MCA in 2026?

Any pros/cons or things I should know before joining would be really helpful. Thanks in advance!

Need help regarding management quota fees in Hyderabad colleges 😭💔

https://preview.redd.it/v8ebs17fca1h1.png?width=736&format=png&auto=webp&s=05ff43b635546a9c6e257eb3a518ec240cbd4446

Hello yall, I’m not from Hyderabad/Telangana and I’ve shortlisted these colleges for Btech CSE:

  • CBIT
  • VNR
  • Vasavi
  • Gokaraju
  • CVR
  • KMIT
  • Vardhaman
  • BVRIT
  • MGIT
  • Sreenidhi
  • Narayanamma

I’m mainly trying for admission through management quota, but I honestly haven’t been able to find proper info or a trustworthy counselor regarding the fees/process for these colleges.

If anyone knows the approximate management quota fees for these colleges, or knows someone who can help/provide legit info, it would genuinely help me a lot 😭

Also if anyone could rate these colleges or share any real insight about placements, campus life, opportunities, strictness, coding culture, etc., that’d be super helpful too. Thanks gng :)

HCU MA History + SSC CGL Preparation — Is It Manageable?

I’ll most probably be joining University of Hyderabad this year for MA History, and I wanted to ask are academics very hectic there?

My first priority rn is SSC CGL while JRF/academics is more like a backup plan. So especially in the History department, will I realistically get enough time for CGL prep alongside MA?

Also, I’m from North nd honestly one big reason I’m choosing HCU over places like DU nd BHU is because I really want to experience South Indian culture and explore a new environment. So do you think this decision is worth it overall?

Summer vacation doubt about fans

I am a first year at uoh, I had recently bought a pedestal fan due to the intense heat and I use it every day. I had thought I could keep it safe since it'll be in my room and my roommate is a PhD student.

But now I'm being told by residents of the hostel that if I don't dismantle the fan and keep it inside my cupboard, the hostel staff may take it.

Is this true? Would I have to pay a fine because I got a fan?
