Japanologie - mit teil-Zeit Job schaffbar?

Hallo,

Took the "wrong" exam for my specific module - is this an issue?

This is my first semester as a master's student here and I took the 2025W fourth sitting of a particular exam instead of the 2026SS first sitting. It's still showing up on my transcript as 5 credits gained, it's still showing up in the right area, under the class I took. Is this gonna be a problem is or it fine? I have no idea how I picked the wrong exam. The exam had the same questions, because I checked with my friend in the same class after I got my results back. Has anyone else done this? Was it an issue?

STEOP requirements for non-degree students

Hello!

I am a student at Comenius uni in Slovakia, and wanted to take a few math courses and I saw that there is a newly launched English program that offers the courses I want. I wanted to do 3-4 courses in total, and when I contacted the SSC they said I had to complete STEOP as this was a mandatory requirement for almost all courses. Does anybody know if there is a workaround, or any way I can register for a couple courses without having to complete STEOP?

Thanks

Which book(s) are you using to prepare for MFDS- Mathematical Foundations of Data Science admission exam?

Hello,

I want to hear from people that are currently enrolled in this program as well as from people that are taking entrance exam this year, which book are/were you using to prepare?

Are questions from last year exam available on the internet?

The university only provided us with the lecture topics that will be covered on the exam, but they didn't specify any particular textbook to study from. I've heard that people who took last year's exam used several different books, such as Mathematics: Analysis and Approaches HL 2 and the Pearson Higher Level textbook by Ibrahim Wazir and Tim Garry, among others.

Im using Pearson's, and I'm worried that there might be questions on the exam covering topics that aren't included in that textbook.

About exam itself, I heard there will be around 13 questions, you will have 2 hours and its multiple choice. You either get full marks or no marks at all.

Also, anyone who's going to take an exam and want to connect feel free to text me.

Thanks in advance.

Can I get my application reconsidered after rejection?

I received a rejection for the Bachelor Mathematical Foundations of Data Science, as I failed to hand in required English certificate before the deadline. Surprisingly, they still gave me a slip for the July entrance exam.

Two questions:

  1. Should I take the exam?

  2. If I pass the exam and get a valid English certificate later, will they reconsider my application through appeal?

I’m confused why they rejected me this early while admission processes last a long time. Anyone had similar experience? Thanks for any tips.

Zulassung zur Universität

Hallo zusammen!

Hi everyone! I am planning to move to Vienna in two years to study. Since I love languages, I am really interested in linguistics, especially German studies or general linguistics. I would love to hear some firsthand experiences from current students. I am also grateful for any advice: What should I pay attention to right now? Or does it make more sense to wait with the detailed planning since the move is still two years away? Thanks a lot for your help!

Wie groß ist Aufnahmetest (Rechtswissenschaft)?

Hallo!

Danke Lg 🥰

University of Vienna closed my application over missing VFS competence check – any chance of reopening?

Hi everyone,

I am an international applicant from India for the Bachelor's programme in Mathematical Foundations of Data Science at the University of Vienna.

My application was recently closed because I did not complete the VFS Global competence check. Unfortunately, I genuinely did not know that this was a required step before the application could be processed. I had already submitted my apostilled Class 12 documents, English proficiency certificate, subject list, paid the application fee, and even received an invitation/admit card for the aptitude test.

Because the University informed the Austrian Embassy that I did not fulfill the admission requirements, my Schengen visa application for the aptitude test was also refused.

I have now contacted the University of Vienna and requested an opportunity to complete the competence check and continue my application.

My question is:

Has anyone experienced a similar situation where the University of Vienna allowed a missing requirement to be submitted later or reopened an application after a misunderstanding? How flexible are they in cases like this?

I would really appreciate hearing from anyone who has dealt with the admissions office or the VFS competence check process.

Thank you.

Residence permit timeline

Hi everyone,

I’m an international student applying for a bachelor’s degree. I received my admission letter and I’d like to know how long it usually takes to get a residence permit approved — and if anyone has tips on speeding up the process?

Wie bekomme ich über 16 ECTS im 1. Semester?

How long do appeals (Beschwerde) normally take?

Hi guys, I want to ask if anyone has gone through the appeal process (Beschwerde) against a University of Vienna Master admissions rejection (regardless of successful or not)? I filed mine on 12 June and received confirmation the same day. They also said it can take up to 4 months, but I'm an international student trying to plan my visa timeline and would love to hear from anyone who has been through this, how long did it actually take to get a result in your experience? Is there a "typical" timeline, or does it really go for 4 months? Any experience would be very helpful, thank you!
