Chat is this real?
Incoming y1 international student, have received two of this kind of sus emails. I heard that some universities send fake phishing emails to students to test their antiscam skills, is this one of them?
Has anyone taken this Game Design class? I have a question.
I was hoping to take this Game Design class in addition to a Computer Science class.
However, I realized that I might need the information I learn in the Computer Science to do well in the Game Design class.
So I’d like to know what knowledge do I need to be coming into this class with?
Thanks in advance, Happy Independence Day to all who observe.
Question about insects
Hi wildcats, I’m an incoming international student of 26 Fall. Laugh if you want but I’m super afraid of insects/arthropod/most of creatures with more than four legs. I’m not sure about how common to encounter them in UofA but I’ve heard about rumors about scorpions, kissing bugs and black widows in Tucson. What the odds that I encounter any one of them in my four year journey if I live in the dorms? Please answer from your real experiences and don’t mess with me, insects are the one thing that I can’t bear down with, thanks🙏
Edit: please don’t share pics of insects you encountered, word description is enough. Seeing any will make me sick for the the entire day if not more. Peace🙏
AP Scores
To anyone that is going and sent their AP scores to the U of A, has anyone been able to see their scores? I know that many students at other colleges were able to access these by going to their transfer credit and application portals. CollegeBoard indicates that scores were sent on June 25th, yet there is still no update on transfer credits or unofficial transcript.
Scholarships HELP PLZ
With all of the criticism that surrounds scholarship universe, what are some secondary options you have found success with on being granted scholarships?
I am over scholarship universe and want an actual possibility to be granted some funds so i’m not drowning in debt.
PLZ ANY INSIGHT HELPS🙏🙏
Wildcats, what surprised you most about Tucson once you actually lived here
the city has a reputation that doesn't quite match living in it day to day. the heat, the desert, the vibe, the stuff nobody warns you about. what caught you off guard once you settled in?
Pay raises for front line staff?
Any word on pay raises for front line staff? Pay raises for the last few years haven't kept up with inflation. Thoughts?
Parking at Main Gate Restrictions.
I will be living at Oliv next year and noticed the restriction that says, "Reminder: Students living in non-university-owned housing adjacent to campus within the Main Gate Overlay District, are not eligible for a parking permit in Main Gate, Tyndall Avenue and Park Avenue garages." I was planning on parking at either Main Gate or Tyndall. Also, how will they know if I live at Oliv? It is not on my student profile.
Working for Wildcat football, living in a new city. Help, warnings, advice
Basically the title. I’m from Midwest and recently applied to a dream job with wildcat football doing creative media. It’s been a dream to work in collegiate athletic media, and I know Arizona is a big school especially with sports. I’m just curious about the city and school.
I’m from a small farm town around 2000, I now live in KC. I’ve heard that Tucson feels like a bunch of towns that collide into a big city. Is that true? How is culture and people there? I’ve never been to a desert, nor Arizona. How are people? Culture? Desert feel? Will working for uni help make friends as I am 25 and know no one there. That’s a big fear, being alone in a massive city and school. However, I feel like job within athletics can help.
How is the city? I’m old fashioned and just briefly looked at living, yes I know it’ll be expensive. But I have like a weird draw back. Is it just the style of houses to have security bars on your house? I’ve always seen that as a way to know you’re if a rough area, but that isn’t always true as some homes are older and the areas around it are nice. It’s probably just a small minded person thing which I can get over. Good neighborhoods around the city that are about 20 mins away from the university?
I’m kinda a guys guy. I like college football (obviously), bonfires, rodeos, video games, movies, nights out sometimes, bars, and all that. My frat party college days are done, but I don’t want to be a hermit in a city I don’t know.
Lastly, how is crime and your host thoughts on Tucson and Arizona? I know it’s hot, like hot hot. Like walk outside and get mail just to burn kinda hot. How is Arizona? It looks beautiful. Tucson looks like it has everything you need and you can “get out” and away from the city if you want to sometimes
Thank you!
Chem 152
How is chem 152? I took 151 in the spring, and I’m just wondering how 152 compares in terms of difficulty of the class and the lab
How is dorm AC?
I applied for housing after April 1 because I was still deciding where I wanted to go, so IDK my dorm yet. I will probably be assigned one of the following dorms since I only selected these:
Honors
Stadium
Coconino
(I also selected cochise but it's full I think - the selection got cleared)
My question is how is the AC in these dorms? I'm used to living in 81 degree AC (my parents are frugal) and have never been able to use a blanket in the summer. Will I be able to use a blanket and should I bring a blanket?
