What is the cause of this slight rotation in the shifter? Mk7.5 MT

Originally the shifter knob was coming loose but I fixed that with blue loctite, now the whole shaft seems to have some rotational play. Any ideas?

Any suggestions?

I know there’s a bit of rust but that’s under warranty so ignore it for now. Water pump going in Monday. Let me know what you think!

ECS Handbrake cover installed

Got the ECS Tuning handbrake cover installed today, the oem one is a real pain to get off. The profile around the button is a bit off but besides that I can't complain, definitily better than the peeling leather on the oem one!

Valkyrie's Update and a Thanks to you all

I've been trying to respond to as many of the messages and posts as I can as I see them according to if enough people responded with the proper responses or not, which a lot of people have been giving a lot of good advice. but since the coolant leak debacle of last year before loe show (wedding anniversary location). I decided to pull Valkyries motor back out take everything all apart and redo it piece by piece the way I would do it for most other people when building their motors. and since i only I have eight cars here to finish (finally not swamped for a one man crew) and having already having my car registered for this year's show. I am hunkering down and getting it done. pairing with Octomotive's founder Brandon, and Colorfittings co-founder Daniel... I've been able to do a gorgeous proper tuck solution for wiring and the AN fittings I needed created for hiding the entire upper coolant system above the valve cover. I kind of had to create my own style of heat shield to protect stuff from the downpipe as well as having a turbo blanket and exhaust wrap, but I think she is going to be just a bundle of joy.

sorry for the ramble I just want to put an update. thanks to everyone in the community for being who you are and it wasn't for the car scene in general, esp the vw world, i would be where I'm at out here being able to help whoever needs it 🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾 🚗🧑🏾‍🔧

Anyone using a roar pedal on their remapped Golf R or stock VR6?

Are they worth it on either one of those cars? We have a VR6 Atlas and she's a real pig off the line (hauls ass once going) and wondering how she'll respond on that naturally aspirated block? Also I'm 93 remapped for my ECU and TCU with IE and wondering if I even need that?

Part code says it fits, looks different. Will it still fit up?

Before I go to the trouble of ripping my seat out and embarking on this project, do we think this will fit? I don't mind that it looks different, I just don't know if the contours of the foam underneath will be the same. It seems like yes? I'd just rather find out now and maybe exchange it now.

Vehicle is a 2016 Golf Sportwagen, Limited Edition

Seat cover is 5GM-881-405-AQ-EQZ.

Any thoughts?

Mk7 8 speed auto -> 6 speed Manual swap?

I have a 2020 Jetta s (1.4t and 8spd auto) with around 185k miles now, and I know my auto trans is not gonna last me forever. My question is, would a O2M 6 speed work? Considering the 8 speed is the O2S? I don't know. Just really want to know if the manual swap is possibke as I don't want to replace the car for something like a bad transmission.

ACC sensor faulty - GTI performance -17

Hi!

I removed the original emblem to put on a black one, didn't know that would trigger the ACC system. Went for a calibration and it didn't work. Tried putting back the original emblem and calibrate, still doesn't work.

Bought a new ACC sensor and put on the old emblem, still doesn't work. Also noticed that when i tried putting the original emblem back, it's kinda damaged and it doesnt sit as tight as it should, is that maybe the problem? It's a bit broken so can't get it to sit 100% correct. Does the emblem need to sit fully perfectly?

Intermittent oil sensor warning

I have a 2017 Golf (automatic transmission). For a few months I’ve been getting an intermittent oil sensor warning. It lasts for a second or 2 before disappearing. Usually on longer highway drives.

When it started I went and got my oil changed at the shop (ahead of schedule). The mechanic said the oil and coolant levels were good, and so thought it was a faulty wire causing the sensor to trip. I opted to live with the occasional alert because it wasn’t happening that often. I check my oil every time the alert comes on just to make sure I’m not in trouble.

Well, it’s been 35 degrees lately in southern Ontario, and while doing some highway driving yesterday the alert was coming on every 5 minutes. Again, only for a second or 2 before disappearing. When I got home I checked the oil level and colour, which was fine.

I had the thought to check the oil temperature, and this was going on (video).

This morning the outside temperature was 28 degrees when I started my car for the first time. The oil temperature immediately read 52 degrees. I assume that reading was false. I drove a couple blocks to work and by the time I got there the oil temperature was 135. I have a hard time imagining the oil got so hot so quickly.

Is it safe to say the oil sensor is just bad, reading temperatures 20 degrees high than actual? Seems like a relatively easy thing to fix, but not sure if I’m missing anything more serious.

2017 VW TSI- leaking oil drain on factory plastic pan

Dealership wants to charge a thousand dollars to put in a new plastic one, Said they also had to do the PVC valve and oil separator at the same time?
I am seeing aftermarket steel ones for less money, but Id have to go with an independent shop (I have done oil pan replacements in the driveway before, not fun).
Thoughts? 2017 golf sportswagen with 110K miles and a manual transmission

Anyone have any resources for oil cooler replacement procedure?

2015 GTI, CXCA, oil cooler is leaking into the cooling system. Planning on replacing it myself as turning wrenches and cursing at cars is my favorite hobby, but I can't find much online as far as the procedure. Alldata wants me to pull the compressor but I'm trying to avoid that, I did find one video where it's accessible by removing the intake which I'd be more comfortable with. If you have any tips, tricks, or resources it would be greatly appreciated

Misfire Issue

Hi guys, just wanted to get some advice on an issue with my Volkswagen golf mk7 1.4 tsi.

Previously I've had issues where I see logged misfires every 10000km or so but they occur on different cylinders, I never noticed it while driving but just see them on my obd11.

I have replaced all the spark plugs, coil packs and had the car walnut blasted to clean the intake valves.

Today it was a kind of cold day and I started the car and heard the engine stuttering instantly and then engine light was flashing. I turned the car off and then turned it on in 10 seconds later and car started and drove fine. Anyone have any clue what it could be?

Thanks
