My index is now an overpriced paperweight now

Both of my base stations went out, and now I can't get new ones because Steam doesn't make them anymore. I would wait for their new Steam frame but I have no clue when that will be out and how much. Should I just buy an HTC base station? Can I fix it myself? what do i even do to the whole index if I decide to buy the steam frame?

Any way I can fix this reflection effect?

I know its not very visible in the video, but there's some kind of blinding effect in my headset, as if the image shown by the screens reflected on the lenses themselves. I somehow managed to capture what I see with my phone, and that weird reflection is a bit annoying because I struggle to read most of the text. I didn't had that issue with my old htc vive, so im a bit clueless as to why it's doing this. If it helps, I usually clean my lenses with a tissu and some spray made to clean glasses and sunglasses, but recently I stopped using the spray because I was afraid it might be damaging the lenses.

Also that issue is more visible on the left eye, but because my phone's camera is on the right, I had to use the right lens instead.

Best base station placement for an L-shaped room

Hi, the living room of my appartment has a wall that basically cuts my playing area in an L shape like the drawing I shown here.

In red is how I placed my base stations, right now it works okay but full body tracking is not getting tracked flawlessly 100% of the time.

Any recommandation? I'm open to buying a third base station if needed.

Need Suggestions.

So for context, I have been only quest standalone on the quest 1, 2 and pro. I've been wanting to upgrade to a valve index headset including full body, but the sad thing is i don't have enough room for a PC in my bedroom, so I am looking for a suitable gaming laptop which could run unity / PCVR for vrchat.

My budget is roughly ~ 1500 - 1000 or lower.

Does anyone have any good suggestions?

Cant use 144hz on valve index (rx 6650 xt, latest drivers)

I wanna use 144hz for gorilla tag so i can use throttling behavior to go back down to 72 hz to play the legal lowest amount in this comp leauge (Dont judge me) ((other ways of changing max fps is illegal)) but when i go to 144 hz the HMD does not display image and the lights at the front are blue, also on the steam vr status when i go on 144 says im on 60 hz which is not supported by the index (probably the reason why its not displaying) also when going in windows settings to change the max hz 144 hz is not one of the options all the options are 60, 90, 120. then i borrowed a much older video card the 1070 ti and then the 144 hz worked but i could only borrow it for one day not forever so we know its a gpu thing. if anyone has a fix or has the same issue please feel free to text. thanks in advance

what should i do in the event something brakes with the index being discontiuned

so currently nothing is broken on my index or its base stations other then a controller not having touch tracking anymore on the joy stick however i am worried about keeping it maintained in the future as i don't really want to buy a steamframe due to it using camera tracking im not comfortable with that.

so just wondering what i should do in the event a base station dies, cable dies, the index itself dies or brakes in some way. how would you go about maintenance or replacement of the discontinued product

Right control loosing tracking constantly, but controller is not the issue?

As the title states, my right controller is constantly losing tracking. It either floats away, jerks around, or disconnects completely. I know the controller itself isn't the issue because I paired my boyfriend's controllers to my headset, and the same thing happens.

I've covered all reflective surfaces and positioned my base stations properly, so I'm assuming it's a headset issue. The left controller works fine for the most part. Every once in a while, it loses tracking and floats away too, but nowhere near as badly as the right one. I have no idea what the fix could be. Any help would be greatly appreciated

Replacement cable or Steam Frame?

I have a index cable that's starting to really wear down with black screens and sound cutting off. I thought about getting a replacement but I also figured the Steam Frame could come out sometime this year. Should I get the replacement cable anyway if want to sell my index at some point?

RIP thumbstick

I wasn't manhandling it or being rough with it. It just fell out. Now, the thumb capacitive sensor doesn't work right anymore to where it always thinks my thumb is resting on it. I guess I will try to see if I can RMA it.

is there a way to get a new/used right index controller that’s not over priced

the strap broke on mine i tried looking for a replacement one but all of them are either selling pairs or 300-400 while the left one is 150-200 why is the right one so expensive? Valve sets them new for 150 each so????

Today i took out the index motherboard because i have no use of the whole headset.

Right Index Controller Randomly Losing Tracking

For the absolute life of me I cannot figure out why my right index controller keeps randomly disconnecting. Whenever I play any vr game, absolutley randomly, my right index controller will freeze in the air. The only fix is turning it off and on again, which only works for a minute or so. I made 2 other posts about this earlier, https://www.reddit.com/r/ValveIndex/s/4GWWMnqdq9 and https://www.reddit.com/r/ValveIndex/s/EUpi5G2Gl3 , but absolutely nothing worked (The issue in the first reddit post with the tracking issues for both controllers was fixed). I covered all the reflections, the right controller still disconnected. I turned off haptics, the right controller still disconnected. I ran the unpair command, the right controller still disconnected. I reached out to steam support with my issue, they told me to fuck off. IFixit does not seem to have any guides for this issue. Could this be an issue with using a vive pro with the index controllers? At this point do I just buy a new controller?

Edit: I bought a quest 3

Index Controller not tracking

SOLVED - explanation at bottom

Hello. I have a problem with index controller. I have recently bought a used pair, bought 2 new steamVR dongles, connected them to PC to test them out - everything worked perfectly, tracking, buttons, no stick drift. Controllers worked flawlessly, except for being very filthy, as the previous owner did not clean them at all. So I decided to clean them up, especially the straps. I disassembled the controllers carefully (the only disassembled area was removal of the top plastic circle around buttons and joystick, so that I could remove the straps), the buttons areas and joystick were cleaned using dry cotton swabs, straps were carefully removed, hand washed and completely dried. After re-assembly, I have taken a tissue, slightly dampened it with water and soap, removed most of the moisture and carefully cleaned the controllers (I was careful enough to not let any moisture enter the controller). Then I have cleaned them one more time using a dry tissue. Charged both controllers, waited for a week to try them out again (couldn't earlier due to high heat outside, not ideal for VR). Started up SteamVR, connected both controllers, but left controller does not track no matter what I do.
Things I have tried already: Re-pairing the controllers, restarting SteamVR, restarting PC, changing USB ports of the dongles, slapping the controller (as advised by some other users).
The controllers connects to the dongle and otherwise works perfectly, tried testing the button layout, and all inputs works as they should. Practically everything works except for the actual tracking. Right controller works flawlessly.
I could use some help please, and I appreciate any advice.

Edit: I have also tried installing SteamVR on a second PC with almost fresh windows install. I have connected my VR setup on that PC, and it had exactly the same results: everything works except the left controller tracking. I suspect a hardware failure now.
Edit 2: I have managed to fix the controllers - it seems like it was not a software issue, but a hardware one. What I have done is that I have taken the controller apart almost entirely, stripped it of as much components as I could, then flushed the entire thing with WD40 Contact Cleaner. After it has dried up, I have re-assembled the thing, turned it on, and it worked just like it did before. No idea which exact part was causing it, I guess I will never know, but Im glad it works as intended. Thanks to everyone with their suggestions!
