Some images from our trip in mid-June. Surprisingly, the city was not packed as expected, so there were very few tourist photobombs. We can’t wait to go back. They told us September and November are the best months to visit, although it could get cold. Ciao!
Have been visiting Venice for a few days now for the Biennale and having such a great time. I‘ve yet to have any pizza though(!) and tonight I‘m keen to get some.
The question is: where to have pizza in Castello (am staying here)? Happy to walk elsewhere and if it’s quieter for a Sunday evening that would be great.
hi ! I am a student in medical school in EU, applying to transfer to Venice. If I do get accepted, I will have almost no time to move in and adjust to life since my classes would start immediately. I do not know anybody in Italy, so I was thinking to ask the Internet.
What I want to know is what is life like for locals? The good and the bad. How expensive is rent ? And how hard is it to find rent - also where to find? I just worry to not get cheated because I am not Italian. I want to live alone, not sharing by the way, so I am not opting for that option. What are people like there? In general any information about anything would help me a lot :) Especially regarding rent. As I do not know anything, and don’t know anyone there. Also, the hospital I would work/study in is in Castello area, so inland is where I would live. Please be kind. Thank you !!
Is there anyone to contact to help this poor turtle? It's stuck under a cable and can't move. Or is there anybody living in the area with a stick or pole that's about 3 meters to lift up the cable? Let's rescue this turtle or it will die.
Update: the Firefighters came and rescued the tartaruga.

Hi! I’m going to Venice and I’m looking for affordable, authentic restaurants that aren’t touristy. Any hidden gems locals actually go to?
What have been peoples' recent experiences with the new entry-exit system (EES)m at Marco Polo Airport (VCE).
I have been reading reports of long delays at some European airports, but I have not seen anything reported on VCE. I am less concerned about entry than knowing how much time to allow to get to VCE for our departure. We will be leaving Venice on a Thursday just after noon on a flight leaving the EU. It looks like most flights through VCE are intra-EU (in the two hours before our flight I see flights to NY, DC, London, and Shanghai outside of the EES zone) and flights to Manchester, Toronto, London, and Atlanta in the hour we depart, so maybe lines aren't terrible?
Anyone have any recent experiences?

Hi! I need to exchange usd to euros to pay my accommodation and a course I’m doing in Venice. Since I’m from Argentina I’m not able to withdraw Euros from my account, I have to exchange them in cash. Western Union offered me 1,938 euros for USD 2,400 I thought it was a bad deal! Do you know any other place where I can safely make the exchange?
I m planning a trip to venice this winter and I’m trying to figure out footwear for possible acqua alta / flooded streets.
I know rubber boots are usually recommended but I really dislike wearing them. I m much more confortable in leather boots and I m wondering if a good pair of pull on boots could realistically work.
Has anyone actually worn leather boots in venice during acqua alta ? Was is ok or did you regret not bringing rubber boots ?
Good morning,
We're flying into Venice on 9/4, and our family was really hoping to take a private water taxi to our hotel. We know there are other options, but this is a splurge we'd like to make as our introduction to Venice/Italy. :) Unfortunately, we can't book anything through the official water taxi site since they have the first two weeks of September blocked out due to the Film Festival. Are there any trustworthy, private operators we could contact for booking instead, or is this a lost cause?
Thanks so much!
